Rebirth to take revenge -
Chapter 107: Caught
Chapter 107: Caught
"Alex, now is not the time for you to act on your own," she said. "Do you know that someone wants to harm you? Do you know that Leander and I are their weapons against you? Do you know that by acting like this, you are seeking a dead end?" Claire’s face turned red with anger as she shouted.
"I know," Alex said, slowly standing up, his eyes still determined and persistent. Claire was stunned. She laughed helplessly and shook her head. However, Alex suddenly hugged her tightly.
"His name is Cole, right?"
Thinking of this, Mariah’s eyes flickered. She took out a lollipop that she had prepared in advance from her pocket and handed it over. "Good grandson, come to grandma."
Leander looked at the lollipop, blinked twice, and asked, "Grandpa Butler, is this candy very sweet?"
The butler frowned but remained silent. This child was young and wouldn’t be too suspicious.
Leander reached out, took the lollipop, sniffed it with his nose, and then smiled and said, "Hmm, it does smell good. I’ll save it for my mom!"
Upon hearing this, Mariah’s face changed again, and she smiled awkwardly. "Your mother is not young; she doesn’t like candy. Good boy, you can eat it."
However, Leander shook his head solemnly and said, "My mother is not old, but you, Auntie, who are you?"
Mariah was about to scold him but Leander interrupted, "I don’t seem to know you."
Claire’s body suddenly stiffened at his words. Alex felt her reaction and continued, "I have obtained all of his information."
"Even if I lost my memory, I wouldn’t forget that he took you away from me five years ago," Anna said. "Because this scene appears in my dreams every night."
Claire’s mind went blank as she stared at Alex, unable to believe that he had investigated the matter and even found the real culprit. Alex lowered his head and kissed her lips while she was still in shock.
"Mmm..." she pushed Alex away, but he paid no attention and continued to kiss her with dominance and tenderness. After a long time, they finally separated.
" Claire, I don’t want to be trapped in nightmares without any resistance every time," Alex said. "This time, I want to take care of him myself and protect my family. Will you trust me again?"
Alex looked at her with burning eyes, as if he wouldn’t let her go if she didn’t agree. Claire struggled with complicated emotions as she looked back at him. After a while, she sighed and said, "I can take you to see Leander, but you have to promise that no one will know about your connection with us."
"Why do I have to hide our relationship as your man, Claire?" Alex frowned unhappily.
However, Claire was used to his temper and said slowly, "You can refuse, but I guarantee you will never see us again."
Alex’s face changed unpredictably, feeling both angry and fond of her reaction. She was indeed the woman he had set his sights on. Her stubborn character was not something that ordinary women could match. Alex’s lips curled up, and he looked at her with doting eyes. He spoke in a playful tone, "Listen to your husband."
Claire blushed and turned her head shyly, no longer paying attention to Alex. Seeing this, Alex’s lips curled into a mischievous smile. He looked at Anna and said softly, "I’ll take you home."
Claire looked at him with displeasure and coldly snorted, "Sorry, Mr. Miller, I have to go back to work."
Alex raised his eyebrows and pouted his lips unhappily. He said, "You don’t have to go to work. I’ll support you."
Suddenly, Alex had an idea. He looked at Claire’s beautiful eyes and suggested, "You said that the Western Medical Clinic was a gift I gave you before. How about I give it back to you now?"
Upon hearing this, Claire refused without hesitation. She said, "There’s no need."
"If I really wanted to, I could open another clinic myself. The Western Medical Clinic is fine the way it is now."
Alex nodded disappointedly and said, "Let’s go. I’ll take you home."
Anna pushed him away unhappily and said, "Didn’t I say I have to go back to work?"
Alex raised his eyebrows and joked, "Aren’t you afraid that Cole will come back and harm you or Leander? Why don’t you follow my suggestion and stay at home with Leander for a while? I’ll support you. How about it?"
As Alex spoke, his eyes were fixed on Claire with a burning gaze, as if telling her: Follow me, and I’ll ensure you have no worries about food and clothing.
"Mr. Miller, you’ve misunderstood," Claire hurriedly explained.
"Hmm?" Alex pretended to be puzzled and asked, "What do you mean?"
Claire fell silent for a moment before saying, "Leander and I don’t need you to support us, so you don’t have to bother."
Upon hearing this, Alex immediately lengthened his handsome face and became very angry. "What, do you think I’m poor?"
Claire helplessly pulled the corners of her mouth and coldly snorted as she walked towards the red sports car at the door. Although it was true that they didn’t need Alex’s support, what Claire really wanted at the moment was not to have to work so she could stay at home and protect Leander.
She opened the car door and skillfully sat in the passenger seat. Her movements were fluid and graceful, as if she had done this countless times before.
Alex watched her, and the smile on his lips gradually widened. He got into the car and glanced at Claire, asking, "Where to?"
"The Western suburbs villa district."
At the same time, an unexpected guest arrived at the villa’s doorstep. Mariah stood at the door, looking around with surprise in her eyes. Mariah took in the huge and luxurious villa before her.
"I didn’t expect Claire to do so well these past few years. She even lives in such a luxurious villa?" Mariah’s eyes were filled with deep jealousy as she spat on the doorstep of the villa.
Just then, a voice scolded her, "Hey, what are you doing there, Auntie? Do you know who lives here? How dare you spit in front of the door?" A security guard in uniform walked towards her.
Caught red-handed, Mariah couldn’t help but blush. But when she heard the guard’s words, she also became angry.
"I am the mother of the owner of this house! What am I doing here?" she retorted.
"At your own doorstep, you can do whatever you want?" The security guard sneered. "Anyone can pretend to be someone else. The owner of this house is a foreigner. You don’t look like you have foreign blood."
Mariah’s face stiffened as she looked at the location on her phone in surprise. "Did I get the wrong address? This is the right place!"
At that moment, the villa’s gate opened. The old butler walked out with a stern expression and asked, "Who is making noise at the gate?"
Mariah was taken aback by the distinguished demeanor of the old butler. She immediately put on a smile and approached him, asking, "Excuse me, is this Claire’s home?"
The old butler became alert upon hearing this and asked, "Who are you?"
Before Mariah could answer, one of the security guards said, "Who else could it be? She’s here to cause trouble! Just now, I saw her spit on your doorstep!"
The old butler’s expression turned sour. He turned to the two bodyguards behind him and said, "Get rid of her."
Upon hearing this, Mariah became anxious and quickly said, "Wait, it’s all a misunderstanding! I am Claire’s mother! I’m here to see Claire."
The old butler paused in his steps and turned around to look at Mariah in surprise.
"Miss Claire never mentioned you. Per her orders, I cannot let you in."
Mariah was taken aback. She didn’t expect the butler to be so cautious. She looked around and said, "Claire is busy and just didn’t have time to tell you. She gave birth to a child and only just returned to the country. I’m here to see my grandson."
The old butler frowned. No one knew Leander’s identity. If it weren’t for Anna’s deliberate discretion, how did this woman in front of him know? Could it be that she really was here to see Leander?
At this point, the expression on the butler’s face softened a bit, with a hint of hesitation in his eyes. But before he could answer, the voice of Leander, with a childish tone, came from behind him.
"Grandpa Butler, who’s looking for me?"
Leander walked barefoot to the door and curiously poked his head out to look outside.
When Mariah saw Leander’s face, which was almost identical to Alex’s, she was stunned. At first, Anna didn’t believe it, thinking there couldn’t be two people carved out of the same mold in the world. But now that she saw Leander, Mariah felt uneasy! If this child appeared in public and was seen by the media, the Smith family would be in trouble!
