Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Cheng Nan Is Causing Trouble.
Cheng Luiying let out a sigh after the manager had left her office. She had no idea her small shop was already gaining popularity.
The ladies of high society all want her handcrafted jewelry.
Yes, this was Cheng Luiying’s business scope.
She had a natural talent for making jewelry, and when she noticed her mother’s apparent negative attitude toward her, she opened the shop.
She would design the jewelry, then go to the beach to collect jade and seashells to make it.
Her first product was worn by a prominent fashion icon. She was her first customer and was the one who recommended the shop.
Honestly, she did not want the shop to be in the spotlight because it would expose her. She preferred something small that made her feel at home.
But this was obviously not the case at the time. Currently, she had ladies in high society vying for a piece of her work.
What she did not expect was for her younger sister, Cheng Nan, to want something like this.
She had promised not to wear any low-quality materials, so why was she willing to purchase a piece? Could it be that all of her friends have such jewelry or are planning to purchase one, and in order to avoid being left out, she could only break her previous vow?
Cheng Luiying’s eyes sparkled, as if she had just discovered a huge secret. She broke into a wide smile.
She scoffed at the design that Cheng Nan had chosen. The design may appear simple at first, but only she understood how complex it was.
Clearly, her sister was looking for trouble.
If she changes it, there may be complications. Cheng Luiying could only stare at the design with a heavy gaze.
She had no idea where to begin with the design, which was extremely complicated. Not that she did not know how to do it, but the design had several options, and she was not sure which one to use.
Cheng Nan desired a bracelet, but she chose the most intricate design available, and she needed it quickly. This was one of the reasons she chose her order, aside from trying to get under her skin. Her employees will not be able to get it.
What kind of design was it that made her feel that way?
A delicate, handwoven gold mesh resembles tangled vines. Tiny, polished jade leaves and small, shimmering opals would be scattered throughout. A miniature, golden "seed" pendant shines at the center, surrounded by a subtle, hand-stamped pattern of Chinese characters that mean "hidden truth."
She looked at the design; she knew her sister had always had a talent for design, but this was extraordinary.
She gave a small smile. She intended to complete the task. Nothing could intimidate her. If she did not, she could not be Cheng Luiying.
Thankfully, she already had all of the necessary materials in her workshop.
With the design in hand, she entered her personal workshop and worked for two hours solely on the foundation.
She decided to go for a drink because she was feeling dehydrated.
She walked into her office and was greeted by outside noises.
A frown appeared on her face as she decided to investigate. When she stepped out, she noticed something unusual.
Her sister was present in the shop, and she appeared angry as she scolded her employees.
As she approached her, she was filled with rage: "What do you think you are doing?" She pronounced every word clearly.
"What exactly are you doing here?"
"Thank God you are here, boss."
Cheng Nan and the manager spoke simultaneously.
"Boss?" Cheng Nan inquired, turning to face Luiying with a puzzled and surprised expression.
"Are you surprised by this? Yes, I am the owner of this business; what are your problems with my employees?" Cheng Luiying inquired in a professional tone.
"You really are the boss?" Cheng Nan looked surprised and pointed. She felt as if she was dreaming as she secretly pinched her right thigh, but the pain made her realize otherwise.
"Would either I or the staff be lying? I am the boss here; tell me what your problem is." Cheng Luiying was tired of answering the same question over and over.
Cheng Nan composed herself before saying, "I placed an order a week ago and still have not received my bracelet; the style I chose was simple, but why is it taking so long? I am going to give your shop a bad review, and believe me when I say that no one will patronize you if I do what I want.
Cheng Nan threatened as she looked at Cheng Luiying in disgust.
"Are you certain you gave a simple style?" Cheng Luiying inquired in an imposing voice.
Cheng Nan’s expression darkened slightly before she nodded vehemently.
"Of course I did, I know the style I gave," she said confidently, remembering that Cheng Luiying knew nothing about design, or so she thought.
"I will ask again, are you certain your design is not complicated?" Cheng Luiying squinted at her.
She appeared to know what was going on. However, she did not understand why she was doing this.
"I understand what I am saying; why are you asking the same question?" Cheng Nan was losing patience as she glared at Luiying, who was smirking.
The workers all looked at them, perceiving an unusual atmosphere between them. They seemed to know each other quite well.
But they seemed to despise each other. It was as clear as day, and everyone could see it.
"Then, if you will follow me, I would like to show you something," she said, smiling as she gestured for her to do so.
Cheng Nan had a bad feeling, but she tried to suppress it. If she said she would not go, they would doubt her, and her self-image would crumble.
"What would you like to show me, sister?" Cheng Nan asked, whispering as she followed Cheng Luiying.
"Shh, you will find out soon, and I will appreciate it if you do not call me sister; remember, I severed ties with your family after I married," Cheng Luiying told her, and Cheng Nan sneered in response.
The manager who was accompanying them was stunned to learn the news. It turned out that they were sisters, but the older one had severed relations with them. It also seemed their boss was married.
It was extremely exciting news.
