Rebirth: The Heiress Plans Her Revenge
Chapter 55: I Like Him

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: I Like Him

"Grandfather, I am not sure why we adopted her; as you mentioned, there are many other ways to care for her, but adopting her seemed to be the most meaningful to me; despite only spending a little time with her, I have grown to love Chuxi a lot," Xin Yan smiled as she spoke about Chuxi.

Grandpa Li looked at her, and if he had not known her so well, he would have assumed Chuxi was her child.

However, this was not the case. He could only sigh in defeat. He did not have any options. They had already signed the papers, and there was no going back.

"It is fine; since she is one of our children, we have to consider her education; she is a Lis child, and her education should not be compromised," Grandpa Li informed them.

Li Qiang nodded, "I intend to enroll her in Beijing’s best school, the elite school; she must have the best from now on."

Grandpa Li smiled as he nodded. His grandson was constantly thinking about the future.

"That is fine," he said, nodding.

Two hours later, Xin Yan entered her company, followed by Li Chuxi.

The entire staff was taken aback by her actions. They were curious about her parentage.

One bit the bullet and inquired, "President Xin, whose child is this?"

Xin Yan came to a halt as she looked at the person who had posed the question. She cocked her head slightly, pursed her lips, and appeared to be thinking deeply.

Li Chuxi lifted her head to face Xin Yan. She questioned why she did not explicitly state that she was her child.

"She is my daughter, Li Chuxi, my first child; I hope you treat her well," Xin Yan finally responded as she walked into the elevator with a relieved Chuxi.

The employees were all stunned as they watched Xin Yan enter the elevator.

As the employees began to gossip, the atmosphere suddenly became charged with discussion.

Xin Yan was not concerned with what they would think of her announcement. She brought Li Chuxi along so that she could be recognized.

While the couple was adopting a child, one of their friends was having difficulty courting women.

Yes, Tang Mo was having difficulty courting Zhou Mian. These last few days have been a rollercoaster for him.

He would always run into her, but before he could make a move, he was cut off. Today was not any different.

Tang Mo went to a coffee shop only to discover her there. This time, he chose to ignore her, but fate had other plans.

He sat quietly on the chair, taking small sips of his coffee.

Suddenly, he heard a loud slam on the table and raised his head. His eyes widened when he saw Zhou Mian standing directly in front of him.

As she took her seat, she gave him a brief glance and said nothing. She appeared dangerous, and it scared him as he took a gulp.

"What exactly are you doing here?" He had barely managed to ask.

Zhou Mian squinted at him, wondering what had happened to him. This was the person who was constantly attempting to strike up a conversation with her whenever he saw her, but is he now hiding?

"I am here to drink coffee, just like you," she responded, and he nodded, causing the atmosphere to become awkward.

"You noticed me, did you not?" Zhou Mian could not resist asking a question.

She was a proud person, and his disregard for her hurt her deeply.

"Yes, but I decided not to bother you; you have made it clear that you do not want anything to do with me, so why should I waste my efforts?" Tang Mo appeared to have regained his lost voice as he vented his frustrations.

Zhou Mian looked at him, her face expressionless. It was official; he was an extremely dense individual.

He did not even understand the signals a lady was giving him. She looked at him, finally realizing her annoyance.

"You still need to take lessons," Zhou Mian said through clenched teeth. She wanted to open his head to find out what was inside.

"Lessons? "Why did you say so?" Tang Mo fixed his gaze on her with an expression of utter confusion.

"See, this is why you need lessons; does a girl have to explain everything to you?" Zhou Mian grimaced as she wondered why she was compelled to like someone like him.

Zhou Mian did, indeed, like him. She did not know when it started; all she knew was that she liked seeing his face and the attention he paid her.

Tang Mo looked at her with a puzzled expression. "Women are such a confusing entity," he thought to herself as he watched her display a variety of expressions.

"If you do not tell me how you feel, I might not be able to figure out what is going on in your head," he told her, hoping she would understand his situation.

"Urgh! It is not hard to tell that I like you, is it? Why are men such dense creatures?" She finally confessed, causing him to look at her with wide eyes.

"Do you have feelings for me?" He inquired, pointing at himself with doubt.

"If I do not like you, who should I like instead? Myself?" She inquired while looking at him with disdain in her eyes.

"So you really like me," he murmured softly.

"You truly like me," he exclaimed, drawing everyone’s attention to them.

He coughed in embarrassment, and Zhou Mian laughed slightly.

"Why are you so enthusiastic?" She inquired, resting her chin on her hands as she gazed at the man she had grown to love.

"Because you have no idea, I had wanted to give up, and I also thought it was karma for breaking girls’ hearts back then," he said sheepishly, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.

Zhou Mian smiled amusedly at him.

"This is true, you have a terrible personality when it comes to ladies; I wondered why my stupid heart still chose to beat for you," she said with a sigh, and he had a guilty expression on his face.

"I promise to love you and only you; you will be the only woman in my life," it was a bold but risky promise.

Zhou Mian stiffened because she was not sure whether she should trust him or not.
