Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Finally Adopted

He kept staring at her as her face flushed from the awareness she felt.

"Mom, dad," the sweet voice broke the stare-off.

"Chuxi," Xin Yan smiled as she stroked her hair affectionately.

"I am glad you chose to be our child; I promise you will not suffer while you are with us," Xin Yan continued, despite the fact that she had made this vow several times since they met.

This was done to put Xin Chuxi’s mind at ease because she had been without love since birth.

"Then I will be counting on you, mom and dad," she said with the biggest smile she could muster.

Li Qiang smiled and nodded enthusiastically. He loved it when she called him ’dad.’ His happiness had no bounds.

"Should we go see your new room?" Xin Yan inquired, and she responded with enthusiasm.

The couple passed their time in Xin Chuxi’s new room. Xin Yan frowned as she watched the girl jump on the bed in delight.

"What are you thinking about?" Li Qiang’s voice rang out behind her, almost making her yelp.

"You scared me," she said, placing her hands on her chest and taking deep breaths to calm down.

"I did not mean to, but you seemed lost in thought, which made me concerned about you," Li Qiang explained to her, and she nodded in agreement.

"I want to redecorate this room because I do not like the way it is, I have to make sure little Chuxi feels comfortable, the walls need to be painted in her favorite color, and she should have toys in the room," Xin Yan went on and on about what she wanted and did not want in the room.

"Fine, everything will be done according to your and Chuxi’s wishes; now, will you have dinner?" Li Qiang inquired in a soft voice.

She gave him a sheepish smile as the three of them made their way to dinner.

*The following morning*

Xin Chuxi moved slightly, her eyes flickering open. When she turned to the left, she saw Li Qiang. Her adorable face lit up with a gorgeous smile. She turned to her right and saw Xin Yan, her smile widening.

"Now I have a complete family," she thought to herself before falling back asleep.

An hour or two later, the family was all dressed and on their way to the car. It was a spectacular sight to behold.

"They look great together," the chef remarked, and the housekeeper nodded.

"I just noticed that the little girl resembles the Mistress and also has some similarities to the Master," the housekeeper said with a sigh.

"You noticed it? I thought I was the only one," the chef replied, surprised. He thought his eyes were deceiving him, but it turned out he was not the only one.

"Forget about it; it is not our place to discuss it," the housekeeper shook his head as they resumed their duties.

"Do you not think we should notify the elders of our upcoming actions? "They should be aware of it," Xin Yan asked him, tilting her head.

"You are right, but I can not wait for Chuxi to be called Li Chuxi; once we are finished, we will notify them," he told her, and she agreed.

His words made a lot of sense. She then noticed that Xin Chuxi would no longer be known as Xin, but rather Li.

’Li Chuxi,’ she murmured to herself as she smiled at Chuxi.

They spent an hour on the road before arriving at the Civil Affairs Bureau. It was intended to finalize the legal adoption.

"Chuxi, are you thrilled?" As the three-person family entered the building, Xin Yan asked the little girl.

"I am very excited; it still feels like a dream," Xin Chuxi exclaimed enthusiastically.

When they walked in, one of the employees recognized the couple and rushed over to them.

He was curious as to what the couple was doing at the Civil Affairs Bureau, especially with a young girl. It took him by surprise.

"Greetings, Mr. and Mrs. Li," he said, looking at Chuxi with curiosity.

Xin Yan and Li Qiang replied with a nod.

"What brings you to the CAB?" He inquired, but his instincts told him that the couple was about to go through the legal adoption process, and it should be the little girl in hand.

As expected, Li Qiang opened his mouth and said, "We would like to adopt this little girl, but we want to keep it a secret."

The staff just nodded. Though he was suspicious, hearing Li Qiang admit it surprised him greatly.

"I will bring you to the director so he can work on it," the staff said, suppressing his emotions as he led them to the director’s office.

Fortunately, no one else was present; otherwise, it would have turned into a scandal.

The staff brought the family into the director’s office, and when he realized what they were there to do, he had the same expression as the staff earlier on: shock.

After recovering from his shock, he returned to normal while rushing to meet their needs.

Minutes later, they had completed the legal procedures and the papers were ready. Chuxi was now a member of the Li family, having been given the name Li Chuxi.

"Thank you for your assistance, director," Li Qiang thanked the director, who wiped away his sweat.

"President Li, you do not need to thank me; I am just doing my job," he said, waving his hands frantically. How could he possibly accept President Li’s gratitude?

"That is good, I want to keep this quiet; if I ever find out that people are talking about Chuxi and my family, you will be the first person I go after," Li Qiang threatened as the director swallowed.

"I promise to take this to my grave," he said firmly, or else Li Qiang would not believe him.

"Hmm, let us leave," it said to Xin Yan and Li Chuxi as the three-person family walked out.

"Where are we going right now?" Li Chuxi asked cutely.

"Do not worry about going to Grandpa’s place; he will love you just as much as I and your mother do," he assured her, and she nodded.
