Chapter 48: Rival; Gu Shi

Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Rival; Gu Shi

The girl fixed her gaze on Xin Yan, who smiled warmly in response. She hoped the little girl agreed, but if she didn’t, she would not force her.

"Will I be able to eat tasty food?" The girl posed an innocent question. Xin Yan gave a positive nod while fighting back tears.

"And to be protected from the rain and sun?" The little girl inquired, and Xin Yan nodded, a tear falling from her eyes. She felt sorry for the girl and wanted to help her.

"Then I will follow you, Aunty," she agreed, giving Xin Yan a bright smile that contrasted with her gloomy appearance.

Xin Yan laughed, while Chen Wenling secretly wiped her tears. It was a truly heartwarming moment.

"Good, then I will call you Xin Chuxi; Xin is my surname and Yan is my name; I promise you that you will not face any problems while you live with me." Xin Yan squatted to her level, holding the little girl’s shoulders.

"I believe Aunt Yan," the little girl, now known as Xin Chuxi, said, smiling.

The little girl appears to have smiled more frequently after Xin Yan’s promise.

"Then, will you accompany Aunt to get new clothes, and after shopping, Aunt will take you to meet her grandparents? How does that sound?" Xin Yan asked, her eyes bright.

Xin Chuxi nodded cheerfully, which made Xin Yan happy as well.

"Chen Wenling," Xin Yan said, and she knew what she needed to do.

"I will get the car ready," Chen Wenling hurriedly replied.

"Let us go," Xin Yan said as she stood up and extended her hands to Xin Chuxi, who gladly accepted them.

The girl smiled as she looked up at Xin Yan. Xin Yan was the only one who did not regard her with contempt.

She only remembered growing up in the orphanage, and when she turned three, the orphanage closed down, leaving her with no choice but to leave and fend for herself.

Nobody wanted to care for her, leaving a helpless five-year-old to fend for herself. She grinned again as she looked at Xin Yan.

Xin Yan was like an angel sent to lead her out of the darkness. She promised to protect her and always be by her side.

The driver drove over, with Chen Wenling already in the passenger seat.

"Let us get in, shall we?" Xin Yan looked at the girl, who appeared hesitant.

"Can I really get into it? What happens if I get it dirty? "I do not want to dirty your car, Aunt Yan." Xin Chuxi reluctantly shook her head.

Xin Yan shook her head helplessly. "Do not worry about it, okay? "Just hop in."

Xin Chuxi, sensing Xin Yan’s persistence, climbed into the car, albeit reluctantly.

"To the mall," Xin Yan instructed.

When they arrived at the mall, they were treated with special care because the Xin Corporation was the mall’s largest investor.

"Chuxi, you will take a bath first, okay?" You will follow Aunty, and she will give you a nice bath," Xin Yan told her, and she clutched Xin Yan’s hands tightly, refusing to let go.

"Relax, I am not leaving you; I will go look for pretty dresses for you so you can look like the princess you truly are," Xin Yan reassured her, and she nodded solemnly before walking to the restroom with the Sales attendants.

"What are your thoughts on this dress?" Xin Yan smiled happily as she chose a blue dress. She examined it and nodded, liking it at first glance.

"President Xin, you would make an excellent mother; I can not wait for you and President Li to have children of your own," the other salesperson complimented her, and she paused.

Perhaps her words prompted her to fantasize about having children with Li Qiang.

’What the heck are you thinking about, Xin Yan? You do not even love him, so why are you considering having children with him? That is insane,’ she said, shaking her head to clear her mind of foolish thoughts.

She did not respond to her words as she changed the topic, "Please take me to see other dresses."

The salesperson sighed before smiling and directing her to the children’s section.

As soon as they stepped in, Xin Yan was drawn to a purple dress. It was stunning, and despite being hidden, it immediately drew her attention.

She rushed to the dress, and as soon as her hands touched it, it was snatched away.

She was perplexed as she looked at the person who dared to take the dress from her. She was familiar with him, but they were not on good terms.

"What is this, Gu Shi?" She asked the question, suppressing her annoyance.

"I love the dress and want to get it; is not that what it looks like? The person named Gu Shi inquired with a smirk.

"Gu Shi, my hands touched the dress at first; you can not just take it away from me; it is wrong," Xin Yan smiled as she attempted to reason with her.

"But I want it, and it is in my hands right now; there is nothing you can do about it," Gu Shi smiled triumphantly as she watched Xin Yan struggle to control her temper.

"Really, you think there is nothing I can do about it?" Xin Yan stared at her, as if she had gone insane.

"Please explain how things work here," Xin Yan gestured to the salesperson, who gladly obliged.

"According to our policy, the first person to touch the dress gets to keep it, whether or not he or she wants to pay for it; we have been doing this since," the salesperson said with a smug smile on her face.

This is because Gu Shi has always behaved like a tyrant whenever she wanted to shop, putting a lot of pressure on everyone else in the mall.

But they could not do anything because she had not violated their policies before, but now she had. She was now capable of putting her in her place.

Gu Shi gave an awkward smile. She had no idea there was such a policy at the mall.
