Chapter 47: Little Girl

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Little Girl

"It is not a big deal; all you need to know is their weakness, and then you exploit it," Li Qiang said, and they nodded, knowing they would use it later.

"Right now, I want you to go to the location he gave you; we need to save his family, and since he has agreed to cooperate with us, we need to keep our end of the bargain," Li Qiang ordered, and they nodded.

"I am leaving now," he said, and they led him to his car.

"Take care, boss," they told him before he drove away.

While driving down the isolated road, Li Qiang came to an abrupt halt when he noticed someone standing in the middle of the road. He squinted slightly, wondering who in their right mind would stand in the middle of the road.

He exhaled as he exited his car. He approached the insane person, but when he arrived, a frown appeared on his face.

"Tang Mei?" He exclaimed in surprise; she was Tang Mo’s estranged sister.

"Li Qiang," she said calmly, her arms folded.

"What are you doing here? He asked, his brow furrowing slightly.

"My car broke down," she said, pointing to a car, and he sighed with understanding.

"That is too bad; have you contacted the mechanic?" He inquired, his voice full of concern.

Tang Mei forced a smile upon her face. Was not it common courtesy to offer a ride? Then why did he act in this manner? But her expression conveyed none of her inner thoughts.

"I called him, but he did not pick up," she said, waving her phone in front of him.

"Then have you contacted your brother?" "I believe he will rush over to you," Li Qiang said to her, and she smiled as if she were about to flip.

"You should know Tang Mo and I are not talking; what makes you think he will answer my call, Li Qiang? Can you drop me off?" Because he was not intelligent, she had to be straightforward and ask the question.

"This? It can not work; I have an appointment; why do not you take a cab?" Li Qiang inquired with an innocent look that left her speechless.

"Li Qiang, we have known each other for a while now; do you want me to take a cab home?" Tang Mei questioned him, biting her lips.

Li Qiang tilted his head as he gazed at her. What was he supposed to do? He disliked having anyone in his car, with the exception of Xin Yan. How could he tell her?

"Here’s what we are going to do; why do not I wait until you get a cab before leaving?" This was the least he could do given her status as the Tang family’s Young Miss.

Tang Mei’s expression was one of shock. What exactly was he saying?

"It is fine, I will wait, you go ahead; I do not want to waste your time," she said to him. It was better for him to leave than to wait beside her, as she would feel uncomfortable.

"Okay, if that is what you want, I will be leaving now," he said, walking back to his car and driving away, which stunned her.

She stomped her feet in rage as she got into the car. She attempted to start the car but was unsuccessful. It was only then that she realized the car had problems.

"Darn it," she cursed loudly before dialing her mechanic’s phone number, which he fortunately picked up.

Li Qiang returned to the company. When he arrived in his office, he let out a tired sigh before getting started.

His phone rang suddenly, and he picked it up. He smiled as he received a message from Xin Yan.

He left his work to read the message with a smile on his face. Reading it once was not enough; he read it twice, and he smiled silly.

Gao Yang, who had entered the office to report his findings to him, was stopped in his tracks when he noticed his president smiling goofily.

He was dumbfounded. Only one person could cause the President to act this way. It was President Xin. His brow furrowed slightly as he wondered what message his president’s wife had sent to his president.

"President, I have made some findings," unfortunately, Gao Yang had to burst Li Qiang’s bubble.

Li Qiang unexpectedly sat up straight. He let out a dry cough. His assistant must have discovered him in his embarrassed state.

"What did you discover?" He inquired, his previous embarrassment having subsided.

Xin Yan was present on the construction site, along with Chen Wenling and the team.

"President, this land is ideal for building a supermarket; you have good eyesight," the engineer who appeared to be in charge approached her with a compliment.

She simply nodded, making her appear humble.

"Are you the one who acquired this land?" Xin Yan was startled by a very cute voice and turned to see who was making it.

Her gaze fell on a very lovely and cute girl, but she was dressed in tattered clothes.

Xin Yan’s heart clenched as she responded to the cute girl, "Yes, I am the one who acquired this land; what is your name, little one?"

The girl tilted her head, as if she was thinking hard about her name. "I do not have a name," she replied honestly.

Xin Yan and Chen Wenling were taken by surprise. They exchanged glances, and it was clear they both had the same question: why did not she have a name?

"Why do you not have a name, little one?" Xin Yan smiled as she asked.

"I am not sure," she replied.

"How about your parents? "Your mother and father?" Xin Yan asked, smiling.

"What are parents like? "I do not have a father or a mother," the girl replied, lowering her voice.

Xin Yan was astounded. Did it imply that this girl was an orphan.

"So where do you live?" Xin Yan asked.

"I live on this land that you have acquired," the girl said, pointing to the land being surveyed by engineers and surveyors.

Xin Yan’s eyes welled with tears. This little girl, who appeared to be five years old, had no parents, no place to stay, and appeared to be severely malnourished.

She held the girl’s cheeks, suppressing the pain in her heart, "Will you follow aunty? Aunty will give you a name, lots of goodies, and new clothes, as well as a roof over your head; will you be willing?"

Xin Yan sniffed, hoping that the little girl would accept.
