Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Accompany Her Home

"How did you end up this way?" Cupping his forehead in frustration, Jiang Zhengzhou said, ’The spy planted in the office is the only reason I found out.’

"I’m really sorry, Dad. Xin Yan has changed, and I genuinely don’t know what happened to her or what she went through, but she isn’t the person we all once knew."

This matter also concerned him. She made a sudden change and married Li Qiang, which shocked him.

"You don’t need to bother about this matter. I have applied for your bail, but because Li Qiang is involved, it’s going to be tough. Don’t bother, I’ll bring you out," assured Jiang Zhengzhou.

I trust Dad completely. He felt glad that his dad was already involved.

"How is Jiang Lanfen doing?" He smiled tenderly at the mention of his daughter.

’She’s feeling insecure and believes I don’t love her anymore, so I took her straight to get married,’ he said, his fists clenched.

He only liked Jiang Lanfen and took her opinions seriously.

"What, you got married?" Jiang Zhengzhou found it difficult to believe. He never expected him to marry her so soon.

He scowled while pondering different ways to talk to his daughter. She was growing willful and this could hinder their plans.

"Yes, Dad. Have you heard from Uncle Yu? I still can’t get through to him." Yuan Renshu deftly shifted the topic when he noticed his father’s hesitation about their marriage.

Jiang Zhengzhou rubbed his forehead, anticipating an approaching headache. ’I still can’t reach him, but I’m pretty sure he’s been discovered.’

"How? How are they going to find out? The plan was perfect, yelled Yuan Renshu." His father shot him a glare, causing him to quiet down instantly.

Since Li Qiang is deeply involved in their affairs, he should investigate further. "He definitely found out something about him," claimed Jiang Zhengzhou, shifting the entire blame onto Li Qiang.

He completely ignored Xin Yan.

"How should we handle him? What if he snitches on us?" exclaimed Yuan Renshu in a panic. Once Li Qiang got involved, he couldn’t help but panic.

Unwilling as he was, the menacing devil which was Li Qiang filled him with dread.

"We shouldn’t worry about him. If he tries to report us, which I doubt, I’ll make sure his family suffers." Jiang Zhengzhou’s eyes gleamed menacingly.

"Are you serious?" Yuan Renshu asked with ecstasy.

"He understood the consequences of accepting this mission, so he swore his loyalty to me. I have control over his wife’s and children’s lives, so he won’t dare speak."

"I trust you, Dad," Yuan Renshu said, now able to breathe a sigh of relief. Since his dad was already handling things, he didn’t need to worry.

Jiang Zhengzhou said, ’You get some rest. I’ve got to go; I’m on my way to Lanfen now.’ Yuan Renshu didn’t even have the chance to speak.

He thought to himself, hoping he doesn’t hurt her, having witnessed his ruthlessness firsthand.

He knew his dad felt upset about their marriage. It may hinder their plans, but what could he do about it? He wanted to provide a sense of comfort to Jiang Lanfen.

At the same time, Li Qiang stayed in his office paying attention to the discussion. A smirk instantly crossed his face.

’Bingo!’ he exclaimed quietly to himself before pulling the plug.

*Xin Corps*

Surrounded by a pile of documents, Xin Yan poured herself into work.

"What are your thoughts on this project, Wenling? Should we fight for this?" Xin Yan handed the papers to her.

She swiftly read it and nodded in agreement.

She suggested that acquiring this land from the government would enable them to create a spacious supermarket for the villagers.

Xin Yan’s curiosity sparked immediately, asking, ’Why do you say that?’ Others will say malls but you chose to build a supermarket, what’s your reason?’

"The remote location of the land makes building a mall impractical, as residents need to travel long distances for their necessities. The best option would be to choose a supermarket that matches their lifestyle and offers lower prices."

In delight, Xin Yan’s eyes lit up. She intended to build a supermarket as well. After studying the living conditions of the town, she determined that constructing a supermarket would be ideal.

"You did an excellent job, Wenling," she praised as the girl beamed a joyous smile.

"The bidding for the land is tomorrow, and we need to prepare a convincing proposal to win it," she said with a smile.

"Yes, President! I will work hard," Chen Wenling assured, making Xin Yan burst into laughter.

She shook her head and said, ’I believe you,’ as they both dove into other matters.

As they carefully studied each document, time moved on.

Out of nowhere, a phone rang, cutting through the quiet atmosphere. Xin Yan lost her focus when she looked at her phone.

’Li Qiang,’ she murmured softly, picking up the phone.

"Hi," his deep tone reached her ears, causing them to turn red inexplicably.

She cleared her throat subtly before greeting with a ’hello’.

"Are you still at work? It’s late already," he said with a tone of complaint, but she shook off her strange thought.

She looked out the window and realized the sky had turned dark.

"I didn’t realize it was so late; I got too caught up in my work," she said, noticing the weary look on Chen Wenling’s face.

Seeing her work so earnestly and without complaint, her eyes softened in response.

"Wait for me. I’m on my way," said Li Qiang, disconnecting the call suddenly.

"Would you like a lift from Li Qiang, who’s picking me up, or do you have another way to get there?" Xin Yan questioned Wenling.

"Thank you, President, but I can order a ride on my own," she responded with a smile, and she nodded.

Minutes later, they found themselves on the last floor and noticed every employee was gone; it was just the two of them in the company.

Without realising, Xin Yan beamed at the sight of Li Qiang’s discreet Bentley.

"Good night, Wenling," she said, making her way to his car.

"Your assistant?" Li Qiang remarked as she got into the car.

Xin Yan responded, ’She said she would book a ride.’

It’s too late for a girl to go home alone. ’Gao Yang, escort President Xin’s assistant home,’ Li Qiang instructed, surprising Gao Yang.
