Rebirth: The Heiress Plans Her Revenge -
Chapter 28: Dad?
Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Dad?
’Is this a proposal?’ she asked without hesitation.
He awkwardly scratched his nose and admitted, ’You could say that.’
"Getting married is impossible without the family register, which my mom keeps locked up in her wardrobe." Strangely, it felt like planning a secret elopement.
"We can easily ask your mom; there’s no doubt she’ll hand it over without me needing to play hardball," he said with absolute confidence.
"You are quite confident," remarked Cheng Luiying, as he nodded.
"Naturally, being part of the Xins, I must carry myself with confidence to avoid disgracing my family," he said firmly as she erupted in laughter.
*Li’s Enterprises*
Li Qiang occupied his office chair, working diligently on documents. Due to the wedding, he needed to handle a lot of paperwork.
His phone ringing out of the blue made him frown. His personal phone number was known only by specific people.
He picked up his phone, frowning. The number didn’t look familiar. Regardless, he chose to answer.
"Hello," he gently mumbled.
"Li Qiang, it’s been a while. I hope you remember who I am." The woman’s overly familiar behavior made his frown deepen even more.
He honestly couldn’t identify the lady who gave him a call.
He inquired, "Who are you?"
"Sweetheart, it looks like you forgot about me. Why is that?" the unfamiliar lady asked sadly.
Since we don’t know each other, why should I treat you like I do?" Li Qiang spoke harshly.
"You’ve hurt my heart, Qiang. No need to worry, my love; I’ll stay right by your side," the call was abruptly ended.
Li Qiang squinted at his phone, anger creasing his brows. He sent a text right away. He sensed that something was amiss.
’Great President Li, even though you just got married, you’re still working,’ Tang Mo declared as he burst into his office.
’What exactly are you doing in here?’ Li Qiang asked as he massaged his forehead and stared at the unexpected guest.
"I just came here to check if you’re really at the office, and you didn’t let me down. Tell me about your wedding night. How did things go? With a playful expression," Tang Mo posed the question.
Li Qiang glared coldly at him and he trembled slightly, ’I just asked a question,’ he said meekly while lowering his head.
Of all the friends, everyone was most afraid of Li Qiang. Although he spoke rarely, his words struck fear into everyone whenever he opened his mouth.
Li Qiang sneered and said, "Why don’t you get married to experience what a wedding night is like?"
"I’m not interested in getting married yet because marriage confines me. I want to enjoy life to the fullest," he softly confessed.
"Since your parents have made promising plans for your future, why would you hurt them with selfish considerations?" Li Qiang expressed his worry.
Tang Mo had made a pledge to remain single. He always felt that marriage would hold him back. Because he saw a loved one suffer similarly, he reacted in this manner.
"You know exactly why I hesitate to get married. I also want to, but I’m scared. "I fear my spouse might leave me like my brother’s wife left him," he said while pinching the bridge of his nose and sighing.
Li Qiang shook his head gently. He knew what he was talking about. Tang Mo’s older brother, Tang Jingsheng went through a marriage that ended when his wife left him.
When his elder brother lost his senses, it made Tang Mo afraid of committing to a marital life.
"Why do you allow the past to dictate your future? You won’t share the exact experiences as your brother since you’re both unique individuals," Li Qiang noted.
"You have no idea, Qiang," Tang Mo cried out. I saw my brother losing his sanity with my own eyes. "He nearly died but fought for two long years and only now is he returning to normal."
He absolutely wanted to avoid it. He found it terrifying.
"Do you let your fears dictate your life? Are you living the sort of upbringing that your parents desired for you? I am honestly disappointed by your actions."
Had it been another individual, he wouldn’t have paid them any attention. This was Tang Mo, the one he grew up alongside. He offered his advice since he fully understood him.
Tan Mo grimaced and closed his eyes. Li Qiang’s words appeared to lift him out of despair.
"What do you advise me to do, brother?" he asked, as a smile spread across Li Qiang’s face. He had been waiting to hear him say this.
Li Qiang lightened up the mood with a joke suggesting Tang Mo only pursue women who are single, since chasing someone else’s partner isn’t desirable. His comments made Tang Mo chuckle.
Feeling awkward, Tang Mo doubted the girl would want to reunite since she forgot about their first interaction.
"Wait a moment, you fancy someone?" The news came unexpectedly.
"I really like her, but she doesn’t remember meeting me. This is so frustrating, man," he scratched his hair.
Li Qiang laughed heartily at his pathetic appearance.
"You’re making fun of me, right?" Tang Mo pouted oddly for someone his age.
Li Qiang fought back his laughter and asked, ’I’m sorry, can you tell me who she is?’ as he tried to help his friend with the problem.
"It’s Zhou Mian," he answered.
"Is it the Zhous’ young daughter?" Li Qiang inquired, receiving a nod from Tang Mo.
"Confidently pursue her; she’s truly commendable," encouraged Li Qiang.
The police had already detained Yuan Renshu at the station. He chose not to shout or cry out, realizing they wouldn’t listen anyway.
He sat patiently as if waiting for someone, and eventually, it seemed like his wish came true.
"Yuan Renshu, someone’s here to see you," He excitedly stood up and grasped the prison cell bars.
"I knew you’d show up," he exclaimed with excitement.
’How have you been?’ inquired the person.
"I am okay, Dad," he beamed.
