She shifted uncomfortably on her seat as she stared at him, opening her mouth to ask, "dad, why are you staring at me that way?"

"This invitation is for you, care to tell me if you know anything about it," her father questioned, narrowing his gaze at her.

Tang Mei frowned. She wondered why her dad did not seem to trust her that much.

But she had forgotten that this was caused by her own self. Her actions had always caused her father to think otherwise.

"I do not know anything about it," she denied.

Of course, she knew what Invitation that was. It was sent by Wu Tang, but it was best to act clueless. Her father was smart, and any slip-up from her, he would notice immediately.

"Are you sure about that?" He asked with squinted eyes.

"I am, father, I know you do not trust me due to my actions in the past few days, but you have to believe that I do not have any knowledge about that invitation, if you do not want me to go, then I won’t," she even squeezed out a few tears to make her lie believable.

Her father sighed. At the end of the day, she was still his daughter, and she has been well-behaved in the last few days, so he felt that he was being unnecessarily harsh on her.

"I am sorry Mei, I was being inconsiderate about your feelings, if you are willing to go, then you can go, you have been cooped up in the house for a long period of time,

I think it is time for you to step out of the house," he consoled her immediately, and she gave him a smile, while wiping her eyes, 𝑖𝑡 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑎

"Thank you father, I should also apologize, I have done things which I am not meant to do, I promise I am a changed person," Tang Mei decided to be more convincing.

Our family would have been destroyed," he pleaded with her, and she nodded while trying to force a smile on her face.

With a stiff smile on her face, she promised, "I will not do it again, this is my promise to you."

"Good good, I will call for a stylist, my daughter should be the most stunning lady," he smiled at her, feeling pleased at her change, before he exited the dining room, going into his study.

"May I have the invitation?" She asked the butler who was holding the envelope.

The butler stared at her for a while, before he handed it to her. He did not trust that she had changed, but there was nothing he could if his master wanted to believe his daughter.

He looked at her a for a while, before going after his master.

Tang Mei glared at his back, before she focused her attention back on the envelope.

She glided her fingers over the envelope, and smiled. Perhaps, it was not so bad to partner with him.

It was late in the night, the time for people to go to bed, but it was different in Wu Tang’s mansion.

There were hustle and bustle as maids moved around.

Wu Tang stood on the stairs as he watched the maid’s movements, he smiled in satisfaction.

They were almost done, and it was almost time for the guests to show up.

He licked his lips slightly, eager for the show he was going to put up later on. He was in a good mood as he whistled, walking to his room.

As the host, he had to look good.

Thirty minutes later, guests trooped into the mansion, and they were in awe of the designs.

Wu Tang was standing on the stairs, a smirk on his lips seeing the looks on their faces. This was one of the major reactions he wanted.

Meanwhile, in Li Qiang’s Mansion, the couple were having dinner.

"Did you receive the invitation from our Li Qiang asked as he watched the female who was enjoying her dinner.

With her mouth filled up, she responded, "yes, I did, it was sent to my grandparents’ house, and it specifically requested for me to show up."

"Will you be going?" Li Qiang asked, he wanted to know as that would determine his next course of action..

"If you are going, then I will go, I know you received one, but I will have to say, I get weird vibes from him, and I do not wish to be in the same room as he," Xin Yan replied with a frown on her face.

"I will be going, but I do not wish for you to be there, there will be a huge show later on, and I do not want you to get hurt,

If you do want to attend, you have to stay close to me," Li Qiang explained to her, and she smiled. She was seriously considering whether she was to go or not.

"It is fine, I would rather you even stay at home, but I will listen to what you say," he said to her, and she smiled at him.

This was why she loved him. He always listened to her, and would also give her opinion a trial.

Li Qiang paused as he turned to look at her, he was not expecting her confession, thus, he felt startled.

"I am sorry, it just came out, and I..." Xin Yan paused, she did not know how she could explain herself.

"Why are you explaining? It is already decided that we love each other, so why are you embarrassed about professing your love?" Li Qiang was in a good mood, so he decided to tease her.

"Nothing," she hastily stood up from the dining table, and walked away.

Li Qiang smiled as he watched her run away from him. If one looked clearly, her ears were red, she was shy and embarrassed.

"Cute!" He muttered with a smile, as he watched her leave. He knew she had decided to attend the banquet, and he was sort of worried.

He knew what Wu Tang was planning to do, and he only hoped she would be safe. This was why he instructed her to stay by his side throughout.

After some moments, the couple were ready.

Xin Yan smiled seeing the Li Qiang who looked dashing in his suit.

"You are really looking attractive," he complimented her, and she tucked a strand of her hair behind her ears.

"You do not look bad yourself," Xin Yan cleared her throat while she avoided his eyes, as they sat on the sofa.

Li Qiang smirked a bit, but did not say anything else.

They had both decided that they would arrive late, it was for maximum effect.

They stayed for a while as they discussed, having no idea when the time passed.

"I feel we should go now, it will not be nice if we show up too late, after all, we live quite close to each other," Xin Yan suggested, and he sighed.

They finally arrived at Wu Tang’s mansion. Li Qiang had a deep look in his eyes as he watched the bright light of the mansion.

They finally walked into the mansion, and the effect they wanted was what they got immediately.

The men could not take their eyes off Xin Yan, she was looking really attractive and elegant in her simple black evening gown.

Whereas, the women could not help but drool over Li Qiang. No wonder he was called the cream of the top in Beijing, he was just too attractive.

Those with partners could only stare at them with envy and jealousy seeing their partners drool over the couple.

Tang Mei had arrived earlier. She was in a corner as she stared intently at Xin Yan.

When she had arrived earlier, the men could not take their eyes off her, but now, Xin Yan had stolen all the limelight from her.

She dug her fingers into her palms, she only had to remain calm as she took in deep breaths. She did not know what Wu Tang was planning, but she was looking forward to it.

He chuckled mirthlessly. Wu Tang put a lot of effort into this. It was normal though, after all, he was making his in Beijing.

It was not bad to show people that he could not be trifled with. All these could work for the people who were not as rich as he was, but definitely not Li Qiang and Xin Yan.

"He really put in a lot of effort just to show off," Xin Yan took Li Qiang’s words out of his mouth as their eyes swept over the decorations with nonchalance.

"Indeed he did, he wants to gain a foothold in the city, what better way to do so?" Li Qiang shook his head at the level of childishness displayed.
