Chapter 136: Race I
Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Race I
Coach Zhen sensed that a fight could break out if he did not do something, and thus, he stepped into the middle as he tried to mediate between the two sides.
"That is enough, Fu Ji, the race will begin soon, I suggest you go prepare as you were late," Coach Zhen was biased towards Xin Yi, it could not be helped, after all, he had witnessed his growth, what else could he do?
Fu Ji glared at Xin Yi for a while before he took his leave.
"He is all bark and no bite," Zhi muttered as soon as he left.
"Be careful of your words, Fu Ji is dangerous, and also, keep your eyes on his people, they might try to resort to foul play, I will be counting on you guys while I am on the track," Xin Yi gave out his instructions.
"We understand Brother," the boys chorused.
Xi Yi did not even need to tell them, they understood what they had to do perfectly. Fu Ji was dangerous, and they could only put their guards on concerning him.
"Thank you for your hard work, I will treat you all to dinner after the race," he promised, and there were cheers all around.
Meanwhile, the family was watching them from the gallery. It was the best place to watch the race from, and they could have an aerial and perfect view of what was going on.
"Luiying, brother will be fine, have faith in him," Xin Yan noticed Zhang Luiying’s quiet look, and she walked to her, offering her words of consolation.
"I know, I just can’t get rid of the thought that Fu Ji had something planned against him, I am worried for his sake, if I had known, I would have advised him against accepting the challenge, but I was worried about his reputation in the racing world,"
Zhang Luiying confessed as she rose from the sofa. Xin Yan exhaled, she had no way to calm her down. If it were Li Qiang who was to race, she would also feel the same way.
It was her brother there, she was also worried, but it seemed her worry was not as intense as Luiying’s.
"Luiying," they suddenly heard her name being called, and they all turned to the source.
"Mom, brother," she called out as she breathed out before walking to them.
"Greetings Matriarch Xin, Patriarch Xin, President Li, Xin Yan," Zhang Jun, Luiying’s mom greeted.
"No need for such formalities, our son is married to your daughter, that is enough to break the bridges, just address us the way you would address the old man in your home," Grandpa Xin was quick to correct them.
"You are too kind, Uncle Xin," Zhang Jun called him informally, showing she had already considered him to be one of the family.
"Good, you are here to support our son, please have a seat," Grandma Xin stood up as she made space for them.
"You don’t need to do this, we can just stand to watch the race," Zhang Caixuan spoke up.
It would be wrong to squeeze in between the both of them.
"Mrs. Zhang, please have my seat, I will stand to watch the race," Li Qiang graciously offered his spot.
Zhang Jun smiled at him, before sitting in his spot. The reason for this was because the number of chairs in the gallery were not enough for the people present, and the little kids could not stand for too long.
"I will also stand to watch the match, I have to see if he is worthy of my sister," Zhang Caixuan joked. This was to lighten the mood of the tense atmosphere.
"Brother," Zhang Luiying whined at her brother’s insensitive words.
"I am sorry, I just wanted to cheer you up, you have not smiled since I showed up, and I am worried about you," Zhang Caixuan was worried about this little sister of his.
"I am fine, brother, I am just worried, you are not aware of how dangerous Fu Ji is," Zhang Luiying mentioned as she played with the pendant around her neck, it was given to her by Xin Yi yesterday, before they slept.
"It is a fine sister-in-law, everything will be fine," Xin Yan draped her arms around her as she pacified her.
Zhang Luiying sighed as she looked through the window. She could see that the two competitors had already taken their places at the beginning of the racetrack.
Zhang Luiying prayed in her heart for Xin Yi. She was not the only one as the others said a word of prayer in their hearts, before watching the race which was about to begin.
At the racetrack, both men were seated in their sports car, Xin Yi casually glanced at the side, and he raised his brows just to see Fu Ji looking at him.
’You are going down,’ Fu Ji mouthed, before turning his face away.
Xin Yi was confused, but he did not take it to heart as he waited for the host to announce the rules.
He looked towards the gallery, and he noticed his family, especially Zhang Luiying who was staring at him with worry.
He did not know if she could see it, but he smiled at her with a reassuring look, before turning to look away. His eyes briefly glanced at the massive crowd, before focusing on the racetrack.
What Xin Yi did not know was that Zhang Luiying had noticed the smile on his face, and she felt a bit relieved.
Fu Ji had informed his fans about the challenge, and Xin Yi’s fans caught wind of it. This was the reason for the massive crowd.
"There are four laps in this race, and of course, dangers around each bend, it is up to the drivers to maneuver their way around it, and finally, no foul play, if caught, the driver would be disqualified immediately, and the challenge is off, good luck to the drivers," the host explained.
And as soon as he was done, the whistle was blown, signifying the beginning of the race, as both drivers zoomed out amidst the cheering of the fans.
