Chapter 150 How to Catch a Person
Chapter 150: Chapter 150 How to Catch a Person
Whether it was intentional or an accident, there are others who will judge.
Once they captured him and recovered the Jade Buddha, Qin Huai’an’s crisis was resolved.
In the middle of the late night, Qin Huai’an ran back.
When he arrived at the village, it was already dark, and the villagers didn’t believe his words; they even mistook him for a bad guy and beat him up.
Qin Huai’an was furious. By the time he ran back to the village, it was past one in the morning. He felt uneasy, as the task Brother Mo gave him was still uncompleted.
Even when he offered money later, claiming there was really a circus to watch, those villagers didn’t believe him.
At this late hour, telling them there’s a circus to see?
Even Qin Huai’an himself found it hard to believe. If there really was a circus, the news would have surely spread during the day, not at night.
"You got beat up?" Mo Siyu opened his eyes to see Qin Huai’an standing in front of the car, panting as he said, "Brother Mo, those villagers just wouldn’t believe me, Brother Mo, what should we do now?"
"Back to Jiang City," Mo Siyu said.
Qin Huai’an looked at Mo Siyu dubiously and asked, "Brother Mo, if we go back now, we still haven’t caught the person."
Qin Huai’an was about to drive, but as soon as he opened the car door, he smelt a faint odor of blood and anxiously asked, "Brother Mo, has your injury reopened?"
"It’s fine." Mo Siyu closed his eyes again and said, "The person has been caught, and the Jade Buddha will certainly be found."
Hearing him say it’s fine, Qin Huai’an felt relieved. He had been running for hours and was starving, not realizing until then and asked in retrospect, "The person’s been caught?"
"Of course," Mo Siyu replied without opening his eyes, speaking calmly as if he was commenting on the day’s weather.
"Oh."
Qin Huai’an had just started the car when he immediately hit the brakes hard, looking at him incredulously and asking, "Brother Mo, really caught him?"
"Yes," Mo Siyu urged, "Your stomach is growling, aren’t you going to hurry back to the city and eat something?"
Suppressing his impulsive feelings, Qin Huai’an kept glancing at Mo Siyu. He looked toward the back seat – it was empty, but in the trunk, listening carefully, there seemed to be someone indeed.
"Brother Mo, how did you catch the person?"
"..."
Mo Siyu couldn’t be bothered to talk.
They arrived at the destination, and Qin Huai’an was dying of curiosity. Upon opening the trunk, sure enough, Shi San was lying there, blood still oozing from a hole in his belly.
"Hey." Qin Huai’an patted Shi San’s face. Shi San had been squeezed in the trunk the whole time, losing so much blood that he was about to pass out.
"He won’t die," Mo Siyu glanced at him, his sickly form sitting in the car was particularly conspicuous.
Qin Huai’an brought the man inside, and with their cooperation, Shi San had already confessed the location of the Jade Buddha. Qin Huai’an followed the lead to retrieve the Jade Buddha, and by the time they left, it was already five in the morning, and it was starting to get light.
"Brother Mo, let’s go have breakfast," Qin Huai’an promptly took Mo Siyu out for breakfast.
At five o’clock, it still wasn’t fully light, and most of the breakfast shops hadn’t opened yet; even the steamed bun shops were just starting, and the buns were not yet cooked.
Qin Huai’an sat there waiting, only starting to eat the piping hot steamed buns with Mo Siyu after they were ready, and followed up with some soy milk. Only then did he finally feel revived.
"Brother Mo, hurry up and tell me, how exactly did you catch the person?" Qin Huai’an excitedly looked at Mo Siyu; he had been pondering for half the day, and still couldn’t figure out how he had managed to catch the person.
"Want to know how?" Mo Siyu asked back.
Qin Huai’an nodded vigorously and said, "Brother Mo, stop beating around the bush. That Shi San is so careful and cunning. We’ve been searching for him for so many days without a clue to where he’s hiding. How did you catch him as soon as you arrived?"
"He delivered himself to me," Mo Siyu said, and it only made Qin Huai’an’s curiosity even more intense. After that, there was no follow-up...
No matter how much Qin Huai’an asked, he couldn’t get a straight answer.
Qin Huai’an’s personality was the kind that would pursue an inquiry to the end. If he didn’t get this matter clear, he probably wouldn’t be able to eat or sleep well.
"Brother Mo, just tell me."
"How exactly did you catch the guy?"
"That Shi San was hiding so well, how did he just bump into your hands?"
"And, Shi San clearly saw you sitting in the car, such an conspicuous vehicle, how could he have delivered himself to you?"
"How did you manage to do it?"
Qin Huai’an wouldn’t feel at ease without getting an answer, he found even the steamed buns and soy milk lost their flavor.
Mo Siyu leisurely bit into the bun and said, "The meat filling in this bun isn’t bad."
"Brother Mo, there’s more," Qin Huai’an pitched in, "The pan-fried dumplings here are also really tasty."
Qin Huai’an ordered another serving of pan-fried dumplings and passed them to Mo Siyu, saying pleasingly, "Brother Mo."
Qin Huai’an looked at Mo Siyu ingratiatingly.
Mo Siyu glanced at the dumplings before saying, "If you were Shi San, and you were cornered in a village, what would you do?"
"Of course, I would think about escaping," Qin Huai’an answered without a second thought. Carrying a life on his back and holding onto a Jade Buddha worth tens of thousands, he definitely would be thinking of escaping, then selling the Jade Buddha for cash. Even if he sold it in a hurry for less, getting a few tens of thousands would still be a substantial amount of money nowadays.
"Well there you have it," said Mo Siyu as he bit largely into the pan-fried dumpling. The taste was indeed good.
Qin Huai’an looked at Mo Siyu with a confounded face, his mind was somehow not keeping up. Mo Siyu’s answer was as good as no answer at all.
In the end, when Qin Huai’an finally learned how Shi San was captured, he was completely dumbfounded.
If he had previously suspected Brother Mo was pulling his leg, now he was sure and certain the Brother Mo was definitely teasing him.
What he did had nothing to do with how Brother Mo caught the guy.
"Brother Mo, Brother Mo."
Qin Huai’an excitedly walked up to Brother Mo, wishing he could swear to the heavens, "Brother Mo, I harbor no other feelings towards Tang Yue, no, towards little sister-in-law."
"Really, I can swear," Qin Huai’an looked pitifully at Mo Siyu.
"Brother Mo, little sister-in-law and you are truly a match made in heaven. My admiration and respect for little sister-in-law are like the endless flowing river," Qin Huai’an truly put all his learned flattery to use.
After a barrage of compliments, Mo Siyu finally nodded, "Hmm, I’ll convey your thoughts to Xiao Yue."
"Brother Mo, does that mean you forgive me?" Qin Huai’an asked timidly, looking at Mo Siyu. Yesterday, he ran alone to that godforsaken place for three whole hours, no, including the night, it was more than four hours, all things considered.
"When have I ever held a grudge against you?" Mo Siyu retorted?
