Chapter 146: Chapter 146; I’m not here for pleasantries….
He felt like he had seen him somewhere but couldn’t pinpoint where, and with the kind of aura and dark eyes that were checking them out, he could tell he wasn’t any simple person to mess around with.
Jin Chengyu held Jin Zhenyu’s hand and stopped him from making the situation even worse.
Jin Jishu stepped closer, clinging to Boyuan’s arm for effect and support to her weak body, her soft voice trembling just so everyone could feel how worried she was. “Brother Boyuan, can’t we do anything? Yuxi is so lonely in there…”
Boyuan’s eyes narrowed dangerously. He heard Su Feng perfectly now, there was no bribing him, no intimidation that would sway him from being Mu Yunchen’s shadow. With a heavy breath, he turned to his father and spoke low but firm.
“Father, I guess we won’t be able to see her tonight. You can see her when she wakes up and asks for us herself. Forcing our way in now will only push her further away, and we all know their bond; we don’t want to provoke Third Master Mu.”
Jin Chengyu was already realizing that unless it was Zhou Yuxi who asked for them or Mu Yunchen allowing them to see her, they wouldn’t be allowed in.
He loudly sighed trying to calm down, “Tell her… tell her, her father came to see her. Tell her I will wait for her to wake up in the lounge area….” He couldn’t get any information from the reception to know what her condition was like at the moment and Su Feng was sending them away without a word.
Could her condition be worse? What was the situation?
Su Feng inclined his head respectfully. “I will deliver that message, Master Jin. Now, please, for her sake and yours, return to the general wing if you wish, you can patiently wait at the lounge. This floor remains closed until further notice.”
“All right Mister…”
One by one, the Jin family turned away, some with quiet regret of the time they had just wasted, some with cold fury they would need to unleash elsewhere.
Only Jin Zixuan lingered for a heartbeat longer, whispering a soft apology no one caught or heard of.
As they left, Su Feng watched their retreating backs, his own face expressionless. He murmured to the guards nearby, “Keep their movements noted, all of their movements!” Who knows, they might be the ones who attacked her. Su Feng has always been suspicious in nature.
Su Feng went back to the wardroom to accompany Zhou Yuxi and Li Meili.
The Jin family gathered in the plush private lounge reserved for distinguished guests, a marble-floored antechamber lined with floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the hospital’s manicured gardens, now ghostly under the moonlight.
They had no choice but to wait there, if they truly wanted to see her and confirm her condition. They could tell Mu Yunchen wasn’t around the hospital vicinity as he could have been notified and then choose to see them or not.
Jin Boyuan sat stiffly at the center of the low table, flipping aimlessly through the hospital’s courtesy magazine but not reading a single word.
Jin Zhenyu lounged on the far end of the velvet sofa, one leg crossed over the other, spinning a silver lighter between his fingers, accompanied by the faint click, click, click the only sound marking the passage of time.
Jin Zixuan hunched at the corner seat, chin resting in his palm, gaze fixed on the floor tiles. Jin Chengyu sat nearest to the window, staring out into the garden. He couldn’t go back home without knowing her current condition.
On the other hand, Jin Jishu seemed at ease or perhaps just more shameless than the rest. She perched elegantly at Boyuan’s side, her skirt arranged just so, her painted lips twisting every so often into a knowing smirk.
She broke the uneasy hush with a soft, almost innocent sigh,
“Honestly… does it not strike anyone else as strange? Third Master Mu is guarding that Zhou Yuxi like we are all her enemies…. Not even our father was allowed to catch a glimpse of her face, isn’t this too much?”
Zhenyu’s lighter paused mid-spin, his eyes lifting lazily to gaze at her. “Watch your tone, Jishu. You don’t want to get your tongue cut. Be very careful, Third Master Mu ain’t someone you can mess around with!”
But Jishu only giggled lightly, brushing imaginary lint from her sleeve, “Oh, come now, brother. I’m only speaking what everyone else is thinking but too polite to say it openly. Uncle and niece relationship? How close must they be, hm? After all, did we not all see them together last night at that club? Private booth, security blocking the whole VIP floor… a man does not guard a niece like that but guards his woman like that.” She was inwardly annoyed that Zhou Yuxi was close to Third Master Mu; apart from him being a bachelor, he was hot, like a masterpiece, beautiful, muscled, and mature. He was a desirable gem for most women.
Boyuan’s head snapped up sharply, his eyes narrowing dangerously. “Jishu, that’s enough. Do not spout filth that can’t be taken back. You should know walls have ears.”
She widened her doe eyes at him, dripping faux innocence. “Filth? I’m merely stating facts, brother; see, we can’t even be allowed to see her. If the media got hold of this, imagine how scandalous it would sound… Third Master Mu, the noble guardian, shares midnight wine and dances with his innocent niece in a hidden corner of a club. Then, today, she collapses, and no one may approach her but him. It reeks of something, unclean, don’t you think?” Zhou Yuxi and Mu Yunchen’s relationship shouldn’t be existing to begin with.
Zixuan shifted uncomfortably, mumbling under his breath, “Stop it, Jishu. All those media houses are controlled by Mu Yunchen, even if their relationship was more than that, what can you do? You don’t want to die right?” Who dared to go up against Third Master Mu?
Jin Chengyu turned around and coldly glared at her, his eyes hardening into a warning. “Mind your mouth, Jishu. Whatever she is, her shame would stain our name too. You forget that too easily. We will fall altogether, you better be careful.”
But Jishu only shrugged delicately, like they were wronging her. “I only hope Third Master Mu shows up sooner and finally comes here to speak to us so that we can know what’s happening to her.”
Zhenyu’s grin returned, cruel and amused as he flicked his lighter once more. “Jishu, tonight, keep that tongue of yours sweet when he arrives because not even father’s begging would save you if you offend that man. Don’t say no one warned you.”
Jishu smiled serenely, crossing her legs as if she had not just spit venom trying to create some rifts.
Outside the lounge, one of Su Feng’s men listened quietly at a respectful distance, his earpiece crackling as he murmured the entire exchange into the secured line.

At the Tang estate…
The Tang family residence was a fortress of old money and cold ambition guarded by several men.
But that didn’t stop Mu Yunchen from arriving with the subtle force of a brewing war. He was leading and his numerous men tagged behind him.
Black vehicles lined the driveway, and his men, suited and sharp, flanked the gates getting inside.
Inside, Tang Yanshi, the calculating old man, was already informed of the storm heading on his way. After his niece had died mysteriously at the dungeon in the clubhouse and his son was targeted, he knew things were about to go down.
Mu Yunchen strode into the grand sitting room without a care, tonight, he needed answers. Because this same person who had poisoned the tea was the same person who had sent people after Zhou Yuxi in the hospital.
“Mu Yunchen,” Tang Yanshi greeted coolly, feigning civility even though they rarely get to meet or have any business dealings together. “To what do we owe the pleasure of your visit at this hour?”
“I’m not here for pleasantries,” Yunchen replied, throwing the folder onto the glass table. “This is your son’s doing. The secret funds, shadow operatives around my company, and all the surveillance, all traced back to Tang Fenghao. I want to see him at this instance!”
