Chapter 145: Chapter 145; Daughter? Father?
Under Su Feng’s watch, Zhou Yuxi slept, lying unconscious and untouched.
The corridor outside Zhou Yuxi’s ward remained unnaturally quiet, the tension thick enough to choke on. It states like that for the next few minutes.
Later inside the wardroom, the doctors moved silently, ensuring that nothing disturbed her fragile rest while they ran some medical checks on her.
Outside, the hospital’s security team stood as a living wall protecting her from any danger that could be coming to knock at their door.
Su Feng could walk into the wardroom and to the corridors from time to time doing checkings and patrols.
A few minutes later, a word reached Su Feng through his communication earpiece, “Master Su, the Jin family is here asking for access to see Zhou Yuxi…” Su Feng excused himself from the wardroom door, adjusted his sweatshirt, and walked down the polished hallway, his shoes tapping softly on the marble floor.
He hadn’t dealt with the Jin family before, but the name carried weight in the city, even though he was abroad, he knew what was happening around the country.
At the reception counter of the VIP wing, the Jin family stood there all assembled. Their faces were wrinkled with worries.
Jin Boyuan was composed in an impeccable dark suit, the cool aura of a corporate predator cloaked beneath professional calm. His hands were pocketed, and he looked like he was straight out of the office.
Jin Zhenyu exuded danger in the subtle flash of rings and the faint scent of gun oil that clung to him; rumors said he commanded underworld loyalties with a flick of his fingers even though he was no match for Mu Yunchen.
Jin Zixuan, on the other hand, hovered behind his brothers, looking all lazy and nonchalant. He didn’t have any much emotions expressed on his face.
Jin Jishu, the youngest and only daughter, lingered by Jin Boyuan’s side intertwining their arms intimately, her pretty face arranged into a mask of well-bred sorrow, but her eyes darted restlessly, a practiced performer even in grief. She was ready to garner some sympathy even in such a situation.
Jin Chengyu was the only person who seemed to be really worried about the health condition of Zhou Yuxi. He was a young man and still a patriarch; they came over probably because he ordered them to, and they had no options.
Su Feng came to a stop before them after a thorough check on them from head to toe, clasping his hands behind his back lazily.
His eyes swept over the group, pausing fractionally on each face, reading power, threat, and desperation in a single glance. It wouldn’t take him forever to know their exact thoughts.
“Master Jin, Young Masters, Miss Jin.” He inclined his head politely but remained firmly stood in between them and the guarded corridor beyond, his beautiful face smiling from time to time, “To what do we owe this sudden visit? I didn’t think Master Mu would inform anyone to come over to the hospital.”
Jin Boyuan stepped forward with a professional smile hiding the strain in his jaw; he was polite but distant in front of this person he wasn’t familiar with. “We heard of Yuxi’s sudden condition. As her family, we came to see her and offer our support. I trust there is no problem with that, right? Where is, Third Master Mu?”
Before Su Feng could answer, Jin Chengyu clasped his hands together, leaning closer with an almost pleading tremor in his voice, “Mister… I am her father… I… I wish to see my daughter and see how she is doing… How is she? How is her condition? What did the doctors say?”
Jin Chengyu’s eyes shone with genuine remorse, you could see how worried he was. For him to beg, he definitely wished to see her.
“Daughter? Father?” Su Feng didn’t know this at all. Zhou Yuxi was a daughter of the Zhou family, and her last name was Zhou; where did they come from to claim relatives? Were they mistaken?
“Yes, she is my biological daughter even though we haven’t made any formal announcement… Please let me see how she is doing!” He looked nervous and worried. This guy was just in his forties and just returned from abroad.
Su Feng’s facial expression softened only by a hair’s breadth, but the protocol was steel-bound around his heart and had to be followed; this was for her safety. He shook his head once, calm but immovable.
“Master Jin Chengyu, I understand and your worries are valid…. But I stand here for Third Master Mu’s will. Miss Zhou is under strict medical care; no visitors are allowed at the moment, and there are no exceptions for the night. This is for her safety and peace of mind, and if you have any qualms with that, you would have to wait for Third Master Mu to talk to him, or give him a call…” It was shocking that Zhou Yuxi was their relative; then who was the ‘Zhou family’ to Zhou Yuxi? This felt too complicated and he needed to hear from Third Master Mu.
Jin Zhenyu’s mouth curled in a dangerous half-smile as he flicked ash from an invisible cigarette, annoyance vividly written all over his face, “So this is it? A family comes to see their own blood and they aren’t allowed? Do you know who you’re blocking, mister? Where is Mu Yunchen? Let him come out here and address us!”
Su Feng’s voice cut through the threat like a cold blade without a second thought, ” Third Master Mu is very busy tonight and if you want to receive his wrath, you can try to provoke him! I don’t care who I am speaking to, all I know is that tonight, no amount of threats or titles will open that door. If you wish to force the issue and your way in, you may try, but I will not guarantee you will leave this floor unharmed. Don’t blame me when the violence erupts.” Su Feng snickered, annoyed, as Jin Chengyu checked him out.
