Re-Awakening with the Summoner's Class -
Chapter 62: Contract Completed
Chapter 62: Contract Completed
Media ran off with the number of deaths and in only a week, the whole world knew about the incident inside the gate.
They did what they did best, feeding the general public with dramatized information.
Luckily nothing related to the people with corruption powers leaked out per Leo’s request.
It took a lot of time to identify all of the massacred bodies, which prolonged the funeral ceremony until today.
Hundreds of people related to the fallen Climbers gathered in front of a podium.
On it stood the entirety of the party that had come out of the gate alive. Behind them stood 52 coffins and something tall covered in fabric.
Everyone there wore black suits to respect the death as Adam spoke into a microphone on the podium.
Even though Leo didn’t understand any of it, he could tell what he was saying. The emotions in his voice ran deep into everyone there.
"Leo."
He called out to the summoner and held out the microphone to him.
"Is he sure?"
"Yes, there are translators there so you can speak without any worries."
Nyssa explained to him with tears in her eyes and snot coming out of her nose.
Leo walked up to the front of the podium and picked up the mic, tapping it lightly to check if it worked.
Loud static went through the entire area, making some people groan due to the deafening sound.
"I didn’t know most of these people... but I’m sure they were great people."
His terrible start of the speech already had some of the listeners rolling their eyes in disinterest.
This just made it even harder to continue, however, he knew that he had to.
"I knew one person, who sacrificed himself for one of our party members."
Halfway through this sentence, his voice began to get shaky, and his eyes watery.
"Even though he didn’t want to be there, worried sick about his family..."
As he mentioned those words, a small girl from the crowd looked up.
"He didn’t give up, pushing forward to close this NIGHTMARE of a place."
More and more emotions were bubbling inside Leo.
Yet they all died down as he inhaled deeply before continuing.
"And I’m sure that every single one of those 52 did their best to make sure all of us are here, safe and in one piece."
Only one pair of hands began to clap as he finished speaking. The same small girl cried as her hands energetically hit against each other.
Then another person joined, then another.
And in no time at all, the whole crowd was clapping at his speech, untied in their grief.
One of the staff members pulled the fabric from the tall thing behind them and revealed a marble statue of a hydra head pierced with a sword.
Under it were two slabs with names of the fallen Climbers and their levels.
With that, the main part of the event concluded as the grieving families got their last chance to say goodbye to the dead.
"Great job back there."
Nyssa whispered as he was getting off the podium.
"Let’s go say our goodbyes."
She offered, however, he put his hand on her shoulder and shook her head.
"We are not the ones who should grieve them right now."
He pointed towards the families standing in front of the coffins before he headed off to the van.
Inside was Zeph, waiting for them to finish outside.
"Are you done already?"
Her question was met with silence as Leo sighed and walked closer to her in the driver’s seat.
"What is it? You are acting weird..."
Leo searched for something in his inventory, he took out a small piece of Hydra’s heart which was still beating, to make sure it would continue doing so, he went to the fridge and grabbed a few ice cubes.
"Give this to your sister, I’m sorry for acting so harshly to her."
Without waiting for her answer he headed to the couch and fell onto it, ready to fall asleep.
[XP +90]
[XP +136]
<That summon XP share passive sure comes in handy, right?>
’It sure does~, however, I’m not so sure if it was a good idea to take it’
[Mind Library]
[Summon XP share]
[Summoner gets 120% of the XP enemies would drop if they are killed by his summons]
It wasn’t a huge increase, but it would let him catch up to other Climbers even faster, and it was a type of two-birds-with-one-stone situation.
[Once you are done with the resources on the 4th floor, you can take a break.]
He scrolled through the inventory again, it was now brimming full of different ingredients.
<With this amount of resources you would need to get very lucky to brute force the artifact>
Leo chuckled as he closed his eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep.
’Luck is also a type of skill if you think about it...’

The summoner was shook awake by Amelia.
"How chan you shleep in a sithuation like that!"
A huge pout was visible on her face, he was confused as to why since they had already mourned Trevor and took care of splitting the loot.
"sigh She did thell me you are qhuiet denshe..."
Amelia hugged him tightly, holding all the blood that would shoot out of her nose inside.
"Thank you sho much fhor teaming up with me"
Right after that, she ran off outside, hiding her mouth as blood dripped through her fingers.
He stood up and stretched his back, looking around confused as they found themselves in front of the Climbers Association of America.
Nyssa sat next to him and ate snacks while watching the TV on the wall.
"Where are we?"
Leo asked the girl, she looked startled as she was fully lost in thought.
"Zeph told us that we instantly needed to go here and ran inside the moment we got here. We even got a ticket from one of the policemen for parking on the pavement."
If she ran inside, it meant that she knew what he gave her, he ran inside and called an elevator, smashing the button as fast as possible to make it come faster.
As it came down he pushed the code to go to the secret hallway and waited while circling the whole area.
’I hope I’m fast enough.’
Just as it opened, he took out his Spirit Sword for extra agility and in a few steps was in front of the room of the runecrafter.
"What did you do!"
He shouted as he saw the scene in front of him.
Zeph’s sister was screaming in pain as energy was collecting inside her body.
"I-I just placed it on her... I didn’t know that it would end up like that!"
Without much thought, Leo summoned as many serpents as he could and commanded them to shoot away from the room to spend all of his mana.
Then he put the palm of his hand on the heart, absorbing half of the energy being created and elevating the pain the poor girl felt.
It didn’t take long before the screaming pain turned into a soothing relaxing breeze as the heart was slowly being absorbed into the runecrafter’s body.
