Chapter 58: Ionara

Everyone but Leo and his summons ran to the dead body of the Lizardman, there was nothing they could do as his body limped in their arms.

"Misther Lizhard! Pleashe don’th dhie.."

Leo wanted to run to him, too, even though they had known each other for only a few hours. He felt that he had to pay his respects.

However, the attack didn’t appear out of the blue, and he had to face whoever used it first.

On the horizon, a group of around 20 Climbers stood, the most decorated of them was arguing with one of his underlings.

Due to how far away they were, the summoner wasn’t able to make out any words that were being said between them.

The group was walking towards them without any hurry in their movements. Leo’s entire stood in position, ready to fight.

"I didn’t give the orders to attack soldier!"

A man coated in shining armor shouted at one of his recruits who had shot at the Prince. While the man was being scolded, not a drip of remorse was visible on his face.

Something sinister could be felt coming from that man, and one more person in the group, but who were they to judge?

"Why did you do it!?"

Leo shouted, hiding his tears, Nyssa did her best to translate their conversation. The confused knight looked at the summoner and scratched his head.

"Because it’s a monster, you idiot! Do you want to clear this gate or not?"

One of the swordsmen from their party approached to pull them apart, trying to defuse the current argument.

Both of them took a step back but still looked straight into each other’s eyes. Not for a moment did the tension drop.

They decided to talk it out after they buried Heinse’s body. To think that he would die so abruptly.

’At least he didn’t suffer a lot...’

The summoner said as they all stood on top of the hole they dug out for him.

Out of respect for the help they got from him, they gave him a minute of silence.

"Thank you for everything... King Heins."

Just to be extra sure they couldn’t do anything for him.

[No Soul found]

"How long can it take? We don’t have all day!"

Adam complained as they all watched the small group pay their respect to their fallen comrade.

Trevor straightened his back and walked towards the knight, towering over him. Tears welled up in his eyes and his voice was raspy as he spoke.

"Who do you think almost completed it on their own you runt?"

This seemed to be pretty effective as the knight scoffed and changed his tone, clearly understanding that they were joining at the end of the whole gate.

"I’m sorry, maybe we didn’t get off from the best side. I’m Adam of the Iron Wall Association."

He held out his arm towards Leo while introducing himself.

"And I’m Leo of the SoulCaller Guild."

Even before hearing Nyssa’s translation, most of them seemed to understand that sentence perfectly as talks about the summoner began between them.

Two people seemed even more interested in what he just said.

"Wow, Leo Astralis! The summoner from Japan! Can I get an autograph?"

One of those two people spoke in fluent English while running up to him, it was the same mage that Adam was shouting at moments ago.

A pretty short woman ran up to him, an oversized robe that she wore went all the way to the ground.

Adam looked at the main one of the mages with his eyes wide open.

"I had no idea Berta could speak Japanese."

The main mage looked back at him, clearly as surprised as himself.

"That’s because she can’t..."

Behind the two people, stood the other man, only a bit taller than the mage that just ran up to Leo.

He took off one of his gloves and put his arm on the grip of the sword in his sheath.

"An autograph?"

Leo looked confused, not understanding what exactly did she mean by it, and why she would want it now.

Without explaining it to him, she held out her arm with a piece of paper in it, the cloak she worse prevented him from seeing any of her features.

However as he was about to grab it, he spotted something, a patch of dark on her arm.

In an instant, he jumped back and took out his Spirit Sword. Before the other party could react, a veil of fire appeared around them.

"Didn’t you listen to doctor? We were supposed to hide ourselves Ionara."

She scoffed at his remark and jumped forward at Nyssa, throwing a beam of lightning magic at her.

Nyssa barely deflected it, making it hit her in the side but miss all her organs.

Adam’s party was devoured by a fire explosion as the man took out his sword from its sheath.

"Who are you? What did you do to our party members?!"

The man swung his sword, slicing through one of the tanks in an instant. Before he could finish his job, The Fearmonger moved his body towards the medics in the backlines.

"I am Solaris, the sacred knight."

Leo couldn’t see any black patches on his arms, however, his blade seemed to move weirdly in his grip, almost like the blade was made of liquid.

However, they had to get rid of the small mage in front of them first.

"Take care of that fire guy! We will talk once they are dealt with!"

He shouted to Adam, seeing him nod he turned back to his party, but before being able to speak, the short girl kicked him in his chin, knocking him up.

In an instant, she appeared in front of him in the middle of the air, her arm fully black as a magic circle appeared behind her elbow, then another.

And another.

And another.

Differently sized circles kept appearing on top of each other as she prepared a devastating attack.

Even with all of this, he knew the attack would hurt.

All of the magic circles compressed, growing denser and more compact.

Then with a swing of her fist, an attack huge enough to swallow him whole shot out, far stronger and faster than anything his serpents could shoot.

He flew almost a hundred meters away from the fight, as he was trying to stand up and catch his breath, she was already in front of him.

[Leo we are going to you.]

[It’s fine, send only Ruby and focus on Solaris.]

The short girl stepped on his stomach as he laid there, digging the base of her boot into his ribs.

"Big bro said that you are way stronger than this, I guess he is a weakling as well."

Leo took out his staff and summoned a serpent above them, making it shoot its beam right into them.

"Are you stupid? I thought you would know by now that it won’t work."
