The beam of light hit both of them head-on, burning Leo. However just like she said, it did not affect her as she took it head on, on the contrary, it filled the black patches on her skin with a purple hue.

"See, I told you it won’t work."

She taunted Leo while looking at his face, the pain was impossible to withstand, but he knew it.

A slight smirk appeared on his face and he began to laugh as his skin began to shred from the attack.

He powered through the pain, pushing the woman aside and swinging with his knuckles as she was in the middle of trying to regain her balance.

Leo’s eyes sparkled as he could see the purple hue protect the woman from his strike, and as soon as it did that, the magic energy hit her.

Her cries of pain were almost as loud as the laser burning them.

<Finally found a reliable solution, took you long enough!>

’Just don’t cry from the pain.’

It was so obvious now that he succeeded in going through their defenses.

The corruption could only prevent one type of damage at once, so striking it with a physical and magical attack at once would bypass the protection.

She tried to jump back, but he kept barraging her with attacks, getting faster with each one.

Now they could no longer rely on the serpent’s beam as it slowly lost power until completely fizzled out.

To both of their shock, the woman they were fighting seemed confused herself how he managed to hit her.

"But he said that I would be invincible!"

Out of the blue, she decided to ditch the battle and dashed toward Solaris, using as much of the stored energy as she managed to absorb.

Leo was about to go after them too, but the damage he soaked was far too much and he was about to fall to the ground.

Ruby ran up to the wounded summoner and offered her shoulder to support him.

Deep down she wanted to go fight more, however, she pushed that need aside to help Leo.

"So what now?"

She asked him while slowly going back to the battlefield.

Even from over here, they could see the veil of fire created by Solaris, and then the Slimy Pearl going headfirst into the veil.

Aboard the ship stood the mages from the Adam’s party, chanting spells and preparing to unleash them.

"Now Nyssa!"

The Slime Overlord shouted while fighting the conjurer. Right behind him stood The Fearmonger who tried to use her Hellwings to occupy the corrupt powers absorption.

However, it had no effect as Solaris just snapped his fingers, controlling the fireballs that were about to hit him and fizzling them out.

As he did that, Nyssa jumped out from the side and punched him in his guts with Gideon.

His stomach began to rumble as the intense shockwave of the attack almost surpassed his absorption effect.

At the exact moment that they could see him getting hit, a barrage of spells was unleashed.

"You think such mere spells could harm me?!"

He still had no idea about the weakness of the corruption, and as he was about to take all of the spells, the short woman fell through the fire veil.

"Ionora! What are you doing?"

All of the spells hit him head-on, he could feel some pain, but as much as they would expect.

Seeing this confused her, how come she lost all the resistance the moment she was struck, but he would only be partially weakened?

"Ho-how..."

A smirk appeared on his face as he took off his shirt, there were more dark patches all across his chest, and almost a fifth of his body was covered.

"You were just weak, dear sister."

Solaris put his sword back in the sheath and took a pair of iron claws, slowly bending his knees and extending both of his arms.

[Primal Swipes]

All of the energy he had stored was unleashed as he bounced from the remains of the fire veil.

With each bounce, he gained more momentum, and the claws left behind a devastating attack.

Adam’s party was almost entirely killed as the strikes turned them into pieces one by one.

Leo’s party ran to hide in one of the holes created during the combat.

While Amelia was running her previously sprained ankle acted up and made her fall to the ground.

"Amelia!"

Nyssa shouted and was about to run to help her, but Trevor put his arm on her shoulder.

Without a word, he jumped out of the hole and ran towards the wounded nun.

He took out his shield and hugged her closely to protect her with his body.

All she could hear were the sounds of the claws ripping through Trevor’s body, no cries for help, only the sound of flesh being pulled apart.

She placed her hands over her ears and closed her eyes to stop them from reaching her as tears welled up.

Slowly, it took longer for each strike to hit, until the last one came, knocking Trevor to the ground.

Exhausted Solaris stood there and watched around as the remains of both parties trying to kill them got out of their covers.

"tch I was hoping more of them would have died."

Next to him laid his sister, who didn’t find a cover in time, barely breathing from the wounds of his attacks.

Her face was filled with tears as she tried to crawl towards her brother.

"Brother... please help me..."

He looked at her with disgust in his eyes, before grabbing her and trying to run away towards the place from which the fake Hydra came.

One of the mages on the deck of the Slimy Pearl chanted her final spell before succumbing to her wounds.

A mere Frostbolt was the only thing she had time to create, and as she shot it toward Solaris, she too died.

Spotting this mage’s resolve, Gloppy summoned a slime aboard the deck and told it to fire the cannon at the fleeing man.

The two attacks landed perfectly at once and made the conjurer suffer great damage, as half of his hand was blown off and fell to the ground.

Instead of stopping, he only sped up, as he knew that there was no way he could defeat them in such a state, especially with the baggage of his sister.

Entirety of the Fire Veil disappeared as Leo and Ruby reached the remains of the battlefield.

It was a massacre, bits of human flesh and tattered clothes filled the entire area, and in the middle?

Barely breathing Trevor and Amelia kneeling next to him with tears in her eyes.
