Chapter 41: The Prince’s Evolution

(The Present)

’’Remember to channel mana flow your highness.’’

’’Shush Godfrey. I want to focus.’’

’’Apologies...’’ he whispers.

Conrad has his eyes closed and is solely focused on the task at hand. He’s sitting on the ground with his legs crossing one another and his hands pressing against each other. He slowly starts thinking of the steps he needs to take for him to activate his power.

He cancels the external noise until the only thing he can hear is the rush of the wind through the leaves. He takes a slow and deep breath, and slowly opens his hands to open a small gap between them.

After he opens the gap, a bright light starts to shine from his stomach, and where his heart is positioned, it starts getting cold. His mind becomes at ease for a moment, and he sees what his power is.

He finds himself in a room made of ice, and there’s something glowing in the middle of that room. He steps closer to the glowing object and reaches out to touch it and the moment he comes to contact with it, the object explodes.

’’Godfrey... I’ve found it! I’ve found my unco!’’ He tries to become excited but stays composed as he fears he might ruin the process.

’’Good, good. Now summon it.’’

Godfrey takes a few steps back and as he can feel the temperature changing and the wind currency changing with it. Conrad maneuvers his hands in circles and pattern trying to summon his power while his eyes are still close and sitting in the same position.

A diamond shaped ice the size of his hands appears between the space of his hands, and he slowly opens his eyes. Excitingly jumps to show Godfrey the results and almost dropping it.

’’Godfrey look! Look! I’ve finally done it! Look!’’

’’I can see it, after all that hard work you’ve finally figured your power. Now that the first phase is accomplished, we should move on to the second face.’’

’’What? What do you mean second phase? I’ve already followed every single step you’ve thought me these past weeks.’’

’’Yes, those we the steps for activating your power. Now I’ll have to teach you to control and use it to your will.’’

’’So, you’re telling me I did all this work for nothing.’’

’’I never said that. You had to do that in order for you to move forward. There’ll always be a next phase in life, doesn’t matter what it is, there’s always something to overcome. Come on let’s get started.’’

Conrad is distracted by his unco, it is reflected in his eyes. He couldn’t stop himself from smiling.

’’Your highness, come on now.’’

’’Can I keep this?’’

’’You can do whatever you want with it, it’s yours after all.’’

Hans in his room writing and preparing for his meeting with other leaders. The queen enters the room and is excited.

’’Hey son, how are you?’’

’’Afternoon mother. I’m fine, just a little nervous.’’

’’There’s nothing to be nervous about, these are people you’ve met before. Nothing has changed.’’

’’I know that, but this is different, it’s not a social meeting as usual. The difference with this is that this meeting with not only regard the nation’s future but my future as the leader of Algoria.’’

’’I know love, I know. But just remember to calm down and not allow your fear to overcome your ambition. This is what you’ve been working for, for most of your life. You’re almost there, now it’s time to take a new step.’’

’’Mother... thank you so much. For being there for me when I needed it.’’ He gets off his chair and rushes his arms around her, and hugs her tightly.

’’Son.’’ She smiles and starts becoming emotional. ’’Oh, how much you’ve grown.’’

A knock comes from the door, and it’s one of the servants.

’’Yes?’’

’’Apologies your majesty, your highness. I was sent by his majesty to tell his highness that they should prepare for the gathering as the guest are on their way.’’

’’Okay thank you. We’ll get there now.’’

The servant bows and leaves.

’’Mother, were you crying?’’ He chuckles

’’No, I wasn’t... okay I was, so what of it?’’

She gives him a light slap on the shoulder as he laughs at her.

’’ You better get going and prepare for the meeting.’’

Hans heads straight to the conference center where the meeting will be held. When he gets there his father is already assessing the decorations and preparations being done. Hans goes and stands next to him.

’’Father. Seems like everything is moving accordingly.’’

’’Yes, it seems so. But all of this won’t matter if you don’t get your message across to those who’ll be sitting in front of you. Other than that, are you ready?’’

’’I don’t know yet... I think I am-’’

’’Son, if you’re not ready today when will you ever be? Remember this if for us to move forward as a nation. If you can get that message across to them, things could go smoothly. Remember that these people are here to listen to what you have to say, this is not about them, this is all about you. ’’

’’Father... do you really think I’m ready to be making such huge demands at my age? I know this is what I want but, I haven’t even done anything to prove that I could lead them into something like this.’’

’’Then lead them with this. And your age has no factor in this, I believe in you. We believe in you.’’

His father’s words were meant to be reassured to him, but he felt more pressure from his words. He decides to leave his father’s side and go to someone who he believes would give him the strength for this.

He decides to suppress these feelings and focus on what he has to say and how he says it. Minutes later, the first guest arrives. Him and his father both go to the front door to greet the guests. The moment the first guest steps into the door and shakes his hands all of his nerves disappeared.

’’Your highness, Your majesty.’’ The man bows in front of both of them.

The king nods and allows him to walk inside and he follows one of the servants to the conference room. The rest of the guests finally arrive and all of them wait at the conference center. Both Hans and the king join them at the room and all of take a stand as they enter.

’’You may take your sits... Welcome gentlemen. I’ve brought you all here to discuss the future of Algoria.
