Chapter 42: Moving Forward
The room is silent and everyone is focused on what’s about to be discussed. Hans takes deep breath to calm his nerves and grins at the crowd of leaders infront of him.
"It does not come to my surprise that in the past decade our nation has flourished and reached their respective goals. And thank you for your hard work and dedication towards this nation.
And rest assured that your what you’ve done has not gone unnoticed. I would personally like to thank you for everything you’ve done. But... Today we should mark on new goals, something that will take us to new heights. Something that will not only evolve our nation but evolve the whole world itself.
We want to spread our influence toward the whole. Where the whole world follows the our beliefs and practices. Where Algoria is not only part of this continent but is the whole world. To put it simply.
We want to be leaders of the world."
Murmurs and unrest starts circling around the room, the people start feeling uncomfortable.
"People! Please be calm."
One them raises their hand to ask a question.
"Your highness I respect your dedication and desire to do such a thing, but doesn’t that put us at risk with starting a world war?"
" Indeed there are great risks that might put our country in turmoil, but I believe that if we all stand together in this we could overcome whatever problems we may face in the future.’’
Hans can see that the audience has been convinced by his statement, but he could tell they were dubious toward the idea.
...
(Later that afternoon.)
Hans is stands by his bedroom window enjoying the beauty of nature. He slowly takes his cup of tea from the table next to him. After savoring it’s smell he take a little sip that follows with a sigh of relief and comfort.
He wouldn’t be enjoying his peace for long as his mother barges in with excitement.
’’Mother! could you knock? I almost spilled my tea.’’
’’I’m so sorry son, mother is just so happy for you! Your father told me how great you were out there.’’ she run to give him a hug but he ignores it trying to protect the tea.
’’Yes mother, I get it. I was great.’’
’’ I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t expecting more excitement from. What’s wrong honey?’’
’’*Sigh* It’s just... I get it was a great event and all, but for me it didn’t feel like much. Mother, it didn’t feel like I’ve done enough. It felt like hey didn’t believe me, or what we could do.’’
’’You do know that every step you take won’t be a huge step right?’’
’’ I know, I know... but ma this isn’t just anything, this about me- us possibly changing the future.’’
’’I get that, and I know this is something you’re working hard on, but people are just as scared of change as much as you are. I just let it marinate into them, you’ve already planned thoroughly for. And there are things that could go against what you’ve planned, but I believe you’re smart enough to figure out whatever obstacle you’ll come against. Okay?’’
She hold his head with of her hand while giving him a comforting smile. He hesitantly nods at the comforting of his mother.
’’Now that’s my boy! Come on believe in yourself. No one wants a leader who doesn’t believe in what they want others to believe in.’’ She softly kiss his forehead before leaving the room.
’’Oh and don’t forget to join us for a family lunch. We’ll be celebrating you today!’’
He smiles at her as she leaves the room and closing the door behind her.
Although his mother’s word were meant to comfort Hans he still had a cloud of doubt over himself. The thought of taking such a big step for the human race is something that has never been tried by anyone before, especially someone at his young age.
He takes another look outside in attempt to forget about everything for once. Just as he’s about to relax, his father walks in the room.
’’Oh! hey father. Is it already time for the celebration?’’
’’No no son, I just came here to congratulate you about you’ve done today. I’m proud of you.’’
’’Thank you.’’
They slightly grin at each other. Than the room becomes awkwardly silence forcing his father to slowly leave the room without making a noise.
’’Father!’’
’’Yes?’’
’’I was scared... I actually still am... Were you ever scared when it came to things like this?’’
’’I still am. Everything we do, every decision and move we make represents our whole nation. The things we do and say could lead to war at any moment and place.’’
’’Yeah, I understand what you mean.’’
’’But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make the decision that will help or strengthen your nation. You should use that fear as your comfort and fuel towards your goal. Hans, you are destined to change this world for the better, even if I you don’t get to accomplish this dream, if you believe enough in it, you might be able to inspire others into carrying it into the future.’’
His father steps closer to him and touches his shoulder.
’’At the end of they day son, no matter what happens I just want you to know that you’re not alone, everyone is here to support and be there for you for you.’’
’’Thank you, father.’’
His father taps his shoulder than leaves the room. Hans closes his eyes and takes a huge breath and slowly releases it.
’’Okay, I might as well finish what I’ve started.’’ He whispers to himself.
He pulls out his journal and starts writing and expanding on his ideas that were fresh on his mind.
After a while one of the servants knock on his door.
’’Enter!’’
She bows ’’Your Highness, Her majesty asked for you to come downstairs.’’
’’Okay, tell her I’ll be on my way. I’m just finishing up on something.’’
’’Yes your highness.’’
She bows and leaves the room.
