Chapter 39: Conflict.

’’Okay men, we’ve hunted enough it’s time for us to go back to the village!’’

Andre encounters a bunch of Scyl me who were gathered around three carts that are carrying dead antelopes and other animals that contain meat. They prepare to leave but one the men stops them by lifting his finger and slowly scans through the area.

’’What’s wrong? We’re done we should get going.’’

’’Yeah, we should, but something’s wrong here. Someone’s watching us.’’

While Andre is in hiding spectating the men, a raven flies and sits next to him. He pays no mind to it, but the raven seems to be looking straight at him, and the more the bird’s eyes are locked towards him the more uncomfortable Andre started feeling.

The Scyl man starts scanning through the woods faster and moving at a quicker pace. His eyes have turned into the same eyes as the birds.

’’Hey hey hey. What’s going on?’’

’’Someone’s here!’’

Andre realizes what’s going on and immediately leaves his position, attempting to run. The Scyl men hear the noise made by the trees and get themselves ready to fight whatever is above the tree.

’’How many of is there?’’

’’I only saw one.’’

’’Okay then. You and you, come with me. The rest of you can leave us behind and take the food to the village!’’

’’Yes sir!’’

’’Alright men, let’s go!’’

They pull out their weapons out and start chasing after him.

’’Who do you think is it?’’

’’I don’t know, we’ll find out when we catch him.’’

’’Let’s cut to this path, we’ll get to him faster!’’

Alex arrives to the end of his trail where he meets a large river that leads to the ocean. It would’ve been impossible for the boys to cross the river because of how strong and fast it was flowing.

He thinks of two options, either follow the path of the river and keep searching or go back and wait for Andre to return from his search. But he decides to choose the alternative option and go to the Scyl on his own.

He returns to the same direction he came from, but this time he’s heading towards the Scyl gates. He doesn’t want to waste any time on waiting while his son could be in danger.

’’Apollo... where are you.’’

Andre hides behind one of the trees and waits for them to go past him. Suddenly a rope chokes his neck from behind the tree and the two of the men appear in front of him. One is holding two small axes and the other a thick sword pointing it to his neck.

’’Strip his weapons. And if I see any sort of resistance from you lad.’’

’’I don’t...’’ Andre taps on his neck indicating that the rope is too tight on his neck, and he’s slowly fainting.

The man with the lifts his hand to the man who’s behind the tree and he loosens the grip a little, Andre starts coughing.

’’We still need to question him.’’

’’I don’t... have anything!’’ He coughs nonstop.

’’We don’t want anything lad, but if you have something we want we’ll take it.’’

’’Then why are you chasing me?’’

The one with the sword presses the sword closer to his neck.

’’We’re the ones asking questions here.’’

’’Who are you?’’

’’My name is Andre Schmidt, from Algoria. I swear I didn’t want-’’

’’Algoria? Interesting I might say. Why would your kind be spying on us, we have nothing that you people want.’’

’’I’m... I’m looking for two boys, and their last whereabouts were in this area.’’

’’No one but the Scyl hang around these parts of the country lad. Whoever you’re looking for is probably far south where you’re coming from.’’

’’But we found some signs that told us they could be around here.’’

’’We? What do you mean we? How many of you are around here?’’

’’I... I’m alone now, the others went back to Algoria. They gave up on the search, but I still carried on with it.’’

’’He’s lying boss. He’s lying!!’’

He clenches harder on axe and lifts it up ready to swing it across his skull.

’’No no no no no!! Please no! I swear! I’m not lying! I’m telling you the truth! Please!! I have a family!’’

’’Listen... lie to me again I will kill you, do you understand lad?’’

He grabs Andre’s cheeks and squeezes them in a playful but threatening manner.

’’What are we going to do with him if we don’t kill him boss.’’

’’ Well, we’ll have to take some things from him, in order for him to pay us back by roaming around a place he shouldn’t have. I’m sure you understand, don’t you lad?’’

’’Yes, anything. Just don’t kill me. Please.’’

They start stripping everything from Andre taking it for themselves.

’’Hey why don’t we take the clothes too; I doubt he needs them.’’ They all start laughing and take off his clothes.

’’ Underwear?’’

’’Come on we not evil.’’

Alex arrives at the front gate of the Scyl and sees two guards standing in front of the gate. They close the gate after letting people with three different carts in. The moment they see Alex they both get their spears ready for a fight, but he is approaching them calmly with his hands in the air trying send a message that he isn’t a threat. When arrives in front of them he stands there while the spears are in his face.

’’You take another step forward we will be forced to attack you, sir. Slowly turn around and leave the premises. We have nothing to for outsiders.’’ A man from above the wall shouts the order towards him.

’’I’m looking for someone! My son! And I just wanted to ask a few questions.’’

’’Maybe I wasn’t clear the first time and I’ll elaborate for you! If you don’t have an invite from the Royal family, we don’t want anything to do with you! If you don’t remove yourself from our gates, we will execute you!’’

’’Sir please-’’

’’Guards! Draw your weapons!’’

Alex is startled but remains composed. He takes one last look at the men and leaves.
