Rabbit Must Die

Chapter 521: Chapter 133: Better to Reincarnate_1

Qin Shou was totally bewildered, he knew Asuras were fond of killing, but he hadn’t expected them to be so crazed, that they would actually exterminate the entire species in the Nether River! Just for a bite to eat, they could go on a killing spree of eighteen people...

Now, Qin Shou suddenly understood why Asaru was so excited to see him and immediately tried to catch him—it was all for a meal!

Qin Shou began to feel sympathy for Asaru and silently mourned for him for one second.

Then Qin Shou patted Hanyue’s thigh and said, "Feels really nice."

"Hmm?" Hanyue glanced at Qin Shou with a tilted eye.

Qin Shou quickly corrected himself, "I mean, from now on, I will take care of your meals. Those things are not fit for humans to eat, they’re just trash."

Hanyue looked at Qin Shou suspiciously, then pinched Qin Shou’s chubby face and said, "Quite chubby, but still not enough to eat."

Qin Shou’s forehead was suddenly covered in black lines, then he took out a table from the Black Demon Box and placed it on the ground, setting up two chairs as well. Finally, Qin Shou took out dish after dish of exquisite food.

By now, Qin Shou was increasingly grateful for his brilliant and heroic self back in the day, for having gone to the East Sea and robbed so much delicious food.

Looking at the table full of alluring dishes, Qin Shou’s appetite surged, and he said to the table, "Come on, take a seat."

In the midst of speaking, Qin Shou glanced at Hanyue only to see her standing there in astonishment, eyes glued to the food on the table, completely unresponsive.

Qin Shou cautiously asked, "Hanyue, what’s wrong?"

Hanyue turned her head to Qin Shou and said, "You... why did you prepare all this?"

Qin Shou, taken aback, said matter-of-factly, "To eat, of course!"

Hanyue looked at Qin Shou disoriented and said, "These things are edible?"

Qin Shou looked at Hanyue as if she were a fool, and said, "Of course they are!"

Hanyue leaned in and closely examined a dish of braised willow fish, shaking her head, "Such nice-looking things, they’re not just for show? You can actually eat them?"

Qin Shou was about to retort with an eye roll: Can’t you tell by the smell that it’s food?

But Qin Shou quickly realized something was off. Even though Hanyue was close to the dishes, she had no reaction to them, only admiring their appearance, without saying they smelled good or fragrant or anything of the sort. Could it be?

Qin Shou instinctively asked, "Hanyue, don’t you think this smells really nice?"

Hanyue frowned at Qin Shou and asked, "Smell?"

A chill ran through Qin Shou as he picked up a dish and brought it closer, saying, "This is sweet and sour shark, take a whiff, it’s tangy and sweet."

Who would have known Hanyue would push the dish away, looking somewhat downcast as she turned her head away with a touch of sourness and a hint of defiance, "I can’t smell it."

Upon hearing these words, Qin Shou’s heart ached.

Hanyue followed up, "To eat is just to live, isn’t it? Why bother with such fuss?"

After saying that, Hanyue sat in the chair, picked up a small fish and threw it into her mouth. As she ate, she said, "Food with color, much easier to chew, but I still prefer something harder, with more of a bite. Rabbit, why aren’t you eating?"

Qin Shou, sitting opposite, stared straight at Hanyue and asked, "Don’t you think the dishes taste even better?"

Hanyue said, "Isn’t it just good to chew?"

Qin Shou quickly picked up a piece of sweet and sour shark and passed it to her, saying, "Try this and see what it tastes like."

Hanyue, unaccustomed to using chopsticks, grabbed it with her hand, threw it into her mouth, and then swallowed it directly. She looked at Qin Shou with a strange gaze and said, "What taste? It’s the same as the one just now."

Qin Shou looked at the salted fish Hanyue had just eaten, then at the sweet and sour fish in front of him, and said nothing. He picked up a piece of each and threw them into his mouth. The salted fish was salty with a hint of sweetness, while the sweet and sour shark was naturally sour and sweet. The two were completely different in flavor; they were not the same at all.

But to Hanyue, there seemed to be no difference in the taste of the two.

Qin Shou suddenly understood; it appeared that Hanyue not only had an impaired sense of smell but had no sense of taste either!

In Qin Shou’s opinion, the happiest things in the world were to eat the most delicious food, be with the most beautiful women, and see the most beautiful sights. If he had to choose one of the three, Qin Shou would choose eating.

In Qin Shou’s eyes, if a person couldn’t even taste food, then their life was basically half wasted, too uninteresting to live.

Yet, Hanyue seemed to lack both the sense of smell and taste.

Looking at Hanyue, Qin Shou couldn’t help but feel a bit more sympathy, but Hanyue didn’t seem to care about that. She sat there with both hands moving, eating rapidly; several plates were emptied in an instant.

By the time Qin Shou collected his thoughts, all the dishes were gone.

Hanyue was licking the oil off her fingers, looking extremely satisfied as she said, "Good to chew means easy to swallow, so comfortable. I haven’t eaten this much in a long time..."

After speaking, Hanyue paused, then said with a touch of embarrassment, "Rabbit, I’m sorry, I... ate too fast..."

Qin Shou waved his hand, saying, "It’s fine, it’s fine, you like it, I still have more here."

Hanyue’s eyes immediately lit up.

Qin Shou promptly brought out a dozen more dishes, and Hanyue smiled happily.

Qin Shou found that although Hanyue could be fierce, she was actually quite adorable. At least, she was easy to satisfy... and when she smiled, she was indeed beautiful.

After eating their fill, the two sat on top of a mountain looking down at the endlessly rushing Nether River. Qin Shou asked curiously, "Hanyue, do all Asuras lack the sense of taste and smell?"

Hanyue shook her head, saying, "Of course not; taste and smell can enhance one’s combat abilities. When eyes cannot see and ears cannot hear, smell can be useful. Sensitive taste can detect poison in food before anything else. Asuras are powerful when it comes to anything that can enhance their abilities. It’s just that I don’t know what’s wrong with me... I’ve lacked these abilities since I was young. But it doesn’t matter, there’s nothing tasty in the Nether River anyway."

Looking at the woman before him, Qin Shou didn’t know what to say, so he heaved a sigh and asked, "Have you never thought about getting it treated?"

Hanyue smiled indifferently and said, "I saw doctors, nobody can cure it." After speaking, Hanyue leaned back against the Stone with a face of relaxed comfort, saying, "Not treating it anymore, I don’t even know how long I’ll live. Living in the Nether River, I’ve been prepared to die anyway. It’s just a pity..."

Hanyue stopped there, squinting her eyes as if enjoying this rare moment of peace.

Qin Shou waited for a while and, seeing that Hanyue didn’t continue, couldn’t help but ask, "A pity what?"

The smile on Hanyue’s face froze and disappeared; she curled up into a ball, hugging her legs, and said coldly, "You die and are liberated; we die and suffer even more."

Hearing this, Qin Shou hazily guessed something and asked curiously, "What do you mean?"

Hanyue stared intently at the Nether River and shook her head with a mix of anger and helplessness, saying, "Heavenly Dao dictates reincarnation; we are the ones not part of it. Once an Asura, forever an Asura through the ages..."
