Chapter 520: Chapter 132 Eating Meat with Little Sister_1

Hanyue was gone for six hours, and after six hours, she returned and said while shaking her head, "I asked many people, but there’s no useful information."

Qin Shou said, "You could ask where there have been fights recently, particularly brutal ones."

Hanyue scoffed, "In the Nether River, for every breath you take, there are hundreds, if not more, people fighting. And with every blink, countless have died..."

Qin Shou was speechless... then muttered, "Your place is really chaotic."

Suddenly, Qin Shou realized something and asked, "Did you get into a fight too?"

Hanyue stretched lazily, her slender waist captivating under the light of the flames in the darkness; she then leaned against the Stone and said, "You should ask when I haven’t been fighting."

Qin Shou was speechless again. He turned to look at the turbulent waves of the Nether River and felt a surge of emotions.

Qin Shou remembered some scientists on Earth saying that no matter how rough the sea’s surface gets, it doesn’t affect the bottom of the ocean; the deeper the water, the calmer the sea bed. However, this statement clearly did not apply here. The Nether River’s surface may be turbulent, but there were no dead bodies to be seen. Below the Nether River, however, it was probably a river of blood by now... Qin Shou even suspected that the turbulence was likely caused by the Asuras causing havoc on the riverbed.

At the same time, Qin Shou looked at Hanyue with a bit of pity. He couldn’t imagine how a girl managed to survive in an environment where people were after your life at any given moment.

"Uh..." Qin Shou wanted to say something.

But then he found that Hanyue had already fallen asleep against the Stone. Even in sleep, her long eyelashes occasionally trembled slightly, indicating she wasn’t resting peacefully.

A gust of wind blew by, and Qin Shou silently took out a blanket from the Black Demon Box and walked over.

Qin Shou gently lifted the blanket and was just about to lay it down...

Clang!

A flash of cold light streaked past!

With the gust of wind, all that was left in Qin Shou’s hand was a corner of the blanket.

At the same time, Qin Shou saw Hanyue looking at him with cold light flashing in her eyes. He said helplessly, "Beautiful, is that necessary? It’s freezing; I’m just covering you with a blanket."

Hanyue glanced at the blanket in Qin Shou’s hand, her pretty face turned red, knowing she had overreacted, yet she stubbornly said, "Who needs your blanket? With my strength, this little wind isn’t cold!"

After speaking, Hanyue turned her head away, giving Qin Shou the cold shoulder.

Qin Shou looked at the girl who was stubbornly refusing to give in, shook his head slightly, clapped the blanket, and the torn piece turned into a shower of elements. The elements recombined into a fluffy blanket, which Qin Shou then gently placed over Hanyue.

Hanyue’s body twitched almost subconsciously, but she didn’t refuse it; she didn’t turn around or say anything.

Qin Shou knew she wasn’t asleep. He scratched his head and asked, "Do you always sleep so restlessly?"

Hanyue replied, "Those who sleep soundly are all dead."

Qin Shou was lost for words...

Qin Shou then said, "Is the security really that bad there?"

Hanyue asked, "What does ’security’ mean?"

Qin Shou was at a loss for words again. He really didn’t know how to explain and after thinking for a while, he said, "Well, ’security,’ is like... um... the feeling when everyone treats each other with the same regard as they would the Nether River Patriarch."

Hanyue chuckled coldly and said, "Isn’t that what everyone does? If you don’t kill the Nether River Patriarch, who can become the new Patriarch?"

Qin Shou was utterly dumbfounded. He realized that his own worldview was wholly incapable of imagining what kind of life the Asuras led! Besides, the conversation couldn’t continue any further.

Qin Shou patted Hanyue on the back, "Alright, you’ve exhausted yourself earlier, take a good rest."

Hanyue made a noise of acknowledgment and then fell silent; after a while, her breathing slowly evened out, clearly she had fallen asleep.

Qin Shou sat by the fire, looking at the alluring outline of Hanyue’s back due to her lying on her side. The physiological reaction he had in his eyes before was gone, replaced by a touch of pity.

From their brief time together, Qin Shou could tell that Hanyue was a woman who dared to love and hate. But underneath her fierce exterior lay a heart scarred with wounds.

She would kill him over a casual remark about her ugliness, yet would engage in a long conversation with him over a compliment. It wasn’t because she was naïve or stupid, but because such compliments were rare in the Nether River. No woman dislikes being told she’s beautiful, especially one who is actually beautiful but has been despised and ridiculed as ugly since childhood, and who could be killed by others at any moment, right?

What Qin Shou couldn’t figure out was why Hanyue was willing to help him so strenuously even though they had only met for such a short while.

Was it his own charm?

Even if he said so, Qin Shou wouldn’t believe it himself. How could he, a rabbit, have any damn charm!

Unable to figure it out, Qin Shou let go of the thought. He sat on the mountaintop, gazing at the raging Nether River, muttering to himself, "Baldy, oh Baldy, you better not be dead... That would be too boring."

Hell was always dark, void of the sun, the moon, and even the lanterns of the Netherworld that served to mark the passing of days and nights.

Qin Shou tried to estimate time solely by his biological clock... At that moment, Qin Shou truly wished he had a watch on hand, but unfortunately, he didn’t understand the construction of a watch and was unable to make one.

Two hours later, Hanyue woke up, threw off the fluffy blanket, and yawned, "Time to eat!"

Having said that, Hanyue pulled something out of her pocket, and Qin Shou, looking at the dark object, instinctively asked, "What is that?"

Hanyue matter-of-factly replied, "Food! Meat!"

Qin Shou asked, "What kind of meat?"

Hanyue replied, "I don’t know. I snatched it from someone else. Are you going to eat?"

Qin Shou nodded, "Give me a bit, I’ll give it a try."

Hanyue tore off a small piece for Qin Shou, which was actually nearly half the size, showing that she wasn’t stingy with him.

Taking it, Qin Shou sniffed it and found it smelled rancid, he licked it with his tongue and suddenly sprang up, running off and hiding behind a large rock before he started to vomit! The meat was bitter, which was bad enough, but the taste of blood mixed with the taste of earth was intolerable for someone like Qin Shou, who was accustomed to fine foods.

"Rabbit, what are you doing?" Hanyue asked.

Upon hearing her, Qin Shou hurried back, snatched the meat from Hanyue’s mouth, and flung it forcefully, turning it into a shooting star.

Seeing this, Hanyue became furious, "Rabbit, what are you doing? Why are you wasting food?"

Qin Shou took a swig of water and grimaced, "Damn food, it’s too disgusting to eat. You’re an Asura, right? Just absorb the Spiritual Energy of heaven and earth, why eat this crap?"

Hanyue snorted, "Are you stupid?" Then, remembering that rabbits are not Asuras, she explained, "We Asuras are different from other Immortals; our bodies require us to eat a lot. Otherwise, we’ll have problems! Rabbit, I know the outside world is abundant with resources, but this isn’t the outside world; this is the Nether River! In the Nether River, there are only Asuras; all other beings have been killed off. Asuras don’t produce, they only kill. In the Nether River, the most valuable thing isn’t any damn heavenly materials or earthly treasures but food!

The piece of meat you threw away earlier, I had to kill eighteen Asuras to get it."
