Rabbit Must Die -

Chapter 241: Chapter 238: The Study of Street Vending_1
Qin Shou couldn’t help but say, "Big sister, the Jade Emperor is still waiting on the mountain."
Ignoring the words, the woman continued to drink.
Minutes later, the woman set down the wine jar and exhaled deeply, "What kind of wine is this? It’s not bad, tastes like a blend of fruits."
Qin Shou was left speechless, as it seemed the woman didn’t take the Jade Emperor seriously at all...
For a woman who doesn’t even spare a glance for the Jade Emperor, what’s he, a mere rabbit, in the grand scheme of things?
But then again, he thought, what did he have to lose? If the woman wanted to kill him, couldn’t he just run away? If she was going to act, she would have already done so. Since she’s not killing him, what’s there to be afraid of!
So, Qin Shou relaxed his attitude...
There was no controlling one’s fate, but one could at least put on airs in the face of it! That way, if death came, it could come with some dignity...
Having come to terms with everything, Qin Shou sat down opposite the woman and said, "This is Monkey Wine, brewed by a bunch of silly monkeys who collected fruits for the winter. They stored the fruits in the dried-out trunks of trees, and for various reasons, fermentation happened... creating this wine."
"Monkeys..." The woman smacked her lips, "I thought they were only good for eating..."
Qin Shou was dumbfounded...
"I’m hungry!" the woman suddenly declared.
Qin Shou said, "That’s no use, you’ve got nothing but stones on this mountain. Even I, your clever rabbit, can’t cook without rice."
"You can cook?" she asked.
Qin Shou threw back his head, pridefully declaring, "The Kitchen God is my master!"
"From now on, you are in charge of cooking for me," the woman commanded authoritatively.
"Why should I?!" Qin Shou blurted out, agitated. He had no desire to stick around this woman. With her fierce demeanor, she could stew him on a whim one day when she’s in a bad mood.
With a slap on the ground from the woman, there was a loud boom...
One moment Qin Shou believed he was on a mountain peak thousands of meters high, the next, he realized... he appeared to be on flat land!
Which meant the woman had flattened a mountain that was millions of miles long, even longer and bigger, into the earth as if she were hitting a mole!
Qin Shou was drenched in cold sweat, looking at the woman before him. He grinned uneasily, "So... what would you like for breakfast tomorrow? I’ll go prepare the ingredients..."
The woman snapped her fingers, and a circle of light appeared in the sky. Then, with a plop, a Silver-backed Wolf Demon fell down!
Qin Shou recognized the wolf at a glance. It was a powerful Silver-backed Wolf Demon at the Earthly Immortal level!
The Imperial Garden was similar to Divine Wood Valley; intelligent beings that opened their spiritual wisdom were not raised here. Even with the strength of an Earthly Immortal, this Wolf Demon’s transformation was banned, leaving its intelligence muddled, but its combat instincts intact, very ferocious!
Under normal circumstances, Qin Shou wouldn’t dare provoke such a creature!
True to its ferocious nature, as soon as the Wolf Demon hit the ground, it got up, let out a loud howl, "Awooo!"
However, with one raise of the woman’s eyebrow...
The Wolf Demon’s legs went limp, and it fell to the ground, stuffing its tail between its legs, having lost all its ferocity from just moments before.
Instead, the creature desperately tried to stand up, but its limbs were too weak to climb... it could only struggle to crawl away, as if there was some terrifying presence here.
"Cook it," the woman said.
Qin Shou looked towards the mountain peaks in the distance, vaguely able to see the golden light emanating from the golden chariot, "The Jade Emperor is waiting for you."
"Let’s talk after I’ve eaten," the woman replied indifferently.
Qin Shou was at a loss for words. Since the woman was not going, and the Jade Emperor was not coming down to start a fight...
Qin Shou didn’t say anything else, "This wolf hasn’t been washed, I need to process it first."
The woman extended a finger and drew alongside her, causing the ground to collapse and transform into a river channel, from which springs of water bubbled up, rapidly forming a river right before their eyes...
Qin Shou stared at the river, wider than the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers combined, his jaw dropping in amazement!
He knew immortals were powerful, capable of moving stars and mountains, filling seas, and all that sort of thing.
But that was all hearsay... He had never seen an immortal actually create a river out of boredom.
Even Nezha, back when he destroyed a mountain, did so with an army...
If it were this woman, a flick of her hand would probably wipe out that mountain...
So, what level was this woman at? A Silver-backed Wolf Demon of Earthly Immortal level was scared into paralysis by one look, and with a flick of her finger, a river appeared... This power was beyond Qin Shou’s comprehension.
Splash!
While Qin Shou was lost in his thoughts, the Wolf Demon suddenly jumped into the river...
Then Qin Shou saw the Wolf Demon start scrubbing itself in the water with utmost seriousness, eventually hopping onto the bank and letting out a loud shout, followed by a pop—exploding!
The large Wolf Demon was gone, fur and all!
Its belly burst open...
It stiffly lay on the ground, dead!
Qin Shou looked at the Wolf Demon, then back at the woman. She seemed to have done nothing...
But Qin Shou felt as if his bones were about to freeze stiff; this scene was too eerie!
She wanted to eat the wolf, and the wolf had washed itself, shed its fur, and then mysteriously died...
What the hell was going on?
Although puzzled, Qin Shou was still quick and efficient in dealing with the wolf demon’s carcass, as he cut open its belly. It was then that he realized how the wolf demon had died—it had actually been scared to death, literally dying when its inner core burst!
And the wolf demon’s gallbladder had exploded too...
"The gallbladder bursting, what a pity," Qin Shou muttered as he removed the wolf’s intestines and casually buried them, keeping only some of the wolf fat.
He then washed the wolf meat, brought out a large pot, waved his hand and the sand on the ground turned into wood, lit a fire, and began preparing the seasoning...
While Qin Shou was using the Stone-to-Gold magic, a hint of unusual color flashed in the girl’s eyes, though she didn’t pay it too much mind.
But when Qin Shou started the fire, particularly when flames sprang up from his fingers, a look of surprise actually flashed in the girl’s eyes! It was as if the flames astonished her even more than the Stone-to-Gold magic...
"Who taught you your magic?" the girl suddenly asked.
Qin Shou had seen this woman’s capabilities and couldn’t be sure of her motive for asking this question. If by chance she had a grudge against Gang, any careless answer might lead to him visiting Gang’s grave this time next year.
So Qin Shou casually made up an answer: "Bought it from a street stall, learned it in one go, why do you ask?"
After Qin Shou’s response, the woman fell silent, as if she had accepted his answer or, perhaps, just couldn’t be bothered to talk anymore.
For someone like Qin Shou, who couldn’t stand women with such low emotional intelligence, it was just as well she kept quiet...
With a wave of his hand, water fell out of nowhere into the pot from the air above.
The woman suddenly spoke up, "Is this also something you learned at a street stall?"
Qin Shou said, "Ah... street stalls are booming these days, you can buy anything if you’re lucky enough."
The woman fell silent again, deciding not to talk to Qin Shou anymore.
Qin Shou smacked his lips; this feeling was quite uncomfortable...
It was like greeting someone only to be treated as if you were invisible... like the vibe of a lively chat dying the moment you spoke...
However, the woman before him was too menacing for Qin Shou to provoke, so he decided to focus on cooking instead.
Boiling water furiously, he stewed the entire wolf demon for half an hour...
Then, Qin Shou poured out a pot of wolf broth, seasoned with a handful of salt, green onions, and other ingredients, filling the air with a delicious aroma...
Qin Shou had never cooked wolf meat, but he had cooked dog meat, so he prepared this Earthly Immortal level wolf demon’s meat just as he would dog meat!
However, it seemed the result was not too bad...
Though the wolf demon lacked spiritual intelligence, the Yuan Qi of an Earthly Immortal had infused every cell of its body, making its flesh and blood even more powerful than those of demons who had undertaken cultivation and developed spiritual intelligence!
Similarly, the taste and texture were even better...
Qin Shou even wondered if the likes of the Jade Emperor deliberately bred such high-grade ingredients... rather than to protect the rights of spiritually awakened creatures.
Qin Shou took out the wolf fat and mixed it with various seasonings to create a wolf fat sauce.
He then tried to tear off some wolf meat only to find that he couldn’t! Upon closer inspection, Yuan Qi still flowed within the meat, and it seemed that even the essence blood hadn’t dissipated!
The woman said indifferently, "Have you never cooked this kind of ingredient before?"
Qin Shou replied with a wry smile, "Big sister, do I look like I’ve done this before? This is an Earthly Immortal level wolf demon, you know. If I approached it in the past, I wouldn’t be cooking; I’d be delivering food to it."
The woman nodded slightly and said, "The flesh of an Earthly Immortal level wolf demon incorporates its quintessence. Even though it’s dead, the body remains robust... If an ordinary person got hold of it, a single drop of the wolf demon’s essence blood, with all its malevolence, could annihilate an entire city’s population!"
Qin Shou jumped at this, never having imagined that this wolf demon, which had acted so submissively and cowardly from start to finish, could be so fierce!
The woman continued, "For average cultivators, unless they have become Immortals, the blood of an Immortal is a deadly weapon to them! A drop of Immortal blood can bury an entire sect! The difference between an Immortal and a mortal is as vast as heaven and earth; how can one surpass it?"
Perhaps because since his arrival, most people he had encountered had some connection to Immortals, Qin Shou didn’t really grasp the difference between immortals and mortals as explained by the woman.
Had the woman not expounded, he might have thought Immortals were as common as dirt—just like mortals...
Now it seemed that Immortals were undoubtedly different; no matter how carefree and harmless they appeared, among mortals, they were creatures of apocalyptic proportions.
The woman added, "Your rabbit is a bit special, it isn’t affected by these things."
Qin Shou said, "I’ve seen many places in the Heavenly Court selling immortal-level meat..."
The woman spoke calmly, "Immortal-level flesh and blood isn’t inedible, but it requires refinement to remove the malevolent energy within the flesh before it can be consumed. Of course, there are some creatures that naturally don’t care about such things and can eat anything..."
After this, the woman glanced at Qin Shou.
Qin Shou knew she was referring to him and, seizing the moment, asked, "What kind of creatures?"
Just as the woman was about to speak, the voice of the Jade Emperor echoed from the mountain, "Eat your meal in peace, and once you’re done, go take care of the Imperial Garden."
The woman pursed her lips and said, "Just keep cooking."
Qin Shou had thought he might learn about his own origins from the mouth of this fearless and ferociously evil woman. However, he couldn’t tell if the Jade Emperor had intentionally or unintentionally interrupted their conversation at the critical moment.
