Chapter 104: Chapter 104 Wu Gang Teaches_1

The certainty in his voice was unmatched, and Qin Shou was left utterly baffled. Where on earth did this guy get his confidence from? More confident than Qin Shou himself!

Qin Shou leaned in, staring with bulging eyes at Wu Gang in a you’d-better-tell-me-or-I’m-not-leaving sort of way, "Don’t forget, my former self is dead..."

Wu Gang rolled his eyes, "That was a misunderstanding..."

Qin Shou said, "What if, there’s another ’misunderstanding’?"

Wu Gang laughed helplessly, "You’re tough-skinned and hard-fleshed now, not so easy to kill. Fine, no matter what I say, you think I’m just pacifying you. Here’s what, I’ll pass on a magic trick to you, so you can run faster at critical moments. No more worrying about getting caught red-handed stealing chickens or sneaking around dogs. Satisfied?"

Upon hearing this, Qin Shou’s mouth immediately twisted into a grin, yet he still asserted righteously, "What are you saying? Do I look like someone who steals chickens or dogs? I’m a straight arrow!"

"While you’re at it, could you maybe give me back my shoes?" Wu Gang shouted angrily. He had been caught off guard, and the damn rabbit had actually swiped his shoes.

Qin Shou gave an embarrassed smile, "Sorry, sorry, my hand slipped, heh heh..."

"’Heh’ your uncle... if your hand slips every day, I’ll end up going bare-assed." Wu Gang snatched his shoes back in one swift motion and, not taking any chances, hung them around his neck and tied them in a knot before finally feeling at ease.

"Gang, look, everything is ready. What are you going to teach me?" Qin Shou asked with an ingratiating look on his face. He couldn’t help it; he had been in Heavenly Court for so long, had tried every trick in the book from stealing chickens to tricking and deceiving, yet all the magic powers he managed to acquire were junk. The only decent technique he had was the Eight-Nine Empyrean Art, but even with that, he couldn’t proceed past Level Three. Moreover, it was just a body-strengthening technique and provided no real combat magic powers. At most, it made him into a high-quality punching bag.

So, Qin Shou dreamt of possessing a badass magic power. Even if it was just a fleeing magic, being fast was enough! With that, he wouldn’t need to find scapegoats for his future escapades anymore.

Wu Gang raised an eyebrow upon hearing this and said with annoyance, "Rabbit, if you want to learn a cultivation technique, why don’t you come over here? Why are you running so far away?"

Qin Shou had already made it a hundred meters away without anyone noticing when exactly he had moved.

Qin Shou waved his hand, "Just go ahead, my ears are sharp! Back when I took the TOEFL, I could hear even the faintest sounds from an invisible earpiece clearly! Super slick!"

Wu Gang didn’t understand what the rabbit was babbling about, but he figured something out – the damn rabbit was scared. Last time he got drunk, he seemed to have been about to teach him some magic, but ended up beating him instead... The damn rabbit, once bitten, was now twice shy, and it looked like he wouldn’t come over even if it killed him.

Wu Gang didn’t mind. He nodded and said, "All right, just stay there then. Listen carefully, the magic I’m passing on to you has no name!"

Qin Shou was taken aback, "No name?"

Wu Gang nodded, "Right, no name. Don’t ask what it’s called, because I don’t know either. I just... ahem, picked it up on the side."

Qin Shou’s face broke into a knowing, mischievous grin, "Mhm, picked it up on the side, heh heh..."

Wu Gang’s face turned red, "Anyway, are you going to learn it or not? Can you stop laughing? Be serious!"

"I’ll learn it!" Qin Shou replied with crisp decisiveness.

Only then did Wu Gang breathe a sigh of relief, "Then don’t fuss about the name, come up with one yourself. Now, let me explain the incantation of this magic, the method to channel it, and the practical application..."

I have to say, despite his unreliability in various aspects, Wu Gang is a truly exceptional teacher.

Qin Shou had never been exposed to profound magic; all he knew were beginner-level skills, so he was clueless about the ins and outs of higher-level magic. To his astonishment, after actually hearing about it, he realized that acquiring magic doesn’t mean one can immediately practice it! Only trash magic can be practiced right after acquiring it!

In Wu Gang’s words, everything in this world is based on the Dao; other aspects like rich Yuan Qi or a strong body are secondary. Without the understanding of the Dao, it’s all worthless.

Confused, Qin Shou asked, "I’ve learned quite a few magic skills already."

Laughing, Wu Gang said, "What you’ve learned is nothing but the most basic magic, the kind that anyone who understands that one plus one equals two can grasp. To be honest, it’s only slightly more advanced than something people are born with, like walking. There’s nothing to brag about. But can you make an ordinary person fly just because they understand the basics? Will they be able to fly?

Qin Shou knew this wasn’t the time for jest, so he nodded obediently, indicating they couldn’t.

"That’s correct," said Wu Gang nodding. "So, just telling you the mantra is completely useless. Don’t believe me? Listen: ’Stepping on the sky, the heart stirs and divine light turns, all laws arise from the heart, with the heart the Dao is formed...’"

Wu Gang rattled off a bunch, then looked at the bewildered rabbit and asked, "Did you understand?"

Rolling his eyes, Qin Shou replied, "I heard every word you said clearly."

"That impressive?" Wu Gang was taken aback, not expecting the idiotic rabbit in front of him to be a genius. Had he misjudged?

Qin Shou spread his hands and said, "But when you put all those words together, I have no freaking idea how they relate to practicing magic!"

Upon hearing this, Wu Gang burst into laughter and said, "Exactly! Because you have no foundation, even listening is useless!"

Dumbfounded, Qin Shou said, "Then that means, even if you teach me, I can’t learn it?"

Wu Gang shook his head and explained, "This is where the importance of a teacher becomes apparent. Otherwise, why do you think so many people seek guidance from immortals and visit famous teachers? Having a legacy and lacking one are entirely different concepts. Given the same talents, someone without a legacy could spend ten thousand years trying to gain an understanding of the Heavenly Dao and still not defeat someone who has been cultivating for just a hundred and eighty years under the guidance of a master. What is a master? They can transform their understanding of the Dao into theories, allowing their disciples to learn step by step from the basics, and for different magic skills, they can offer specific Dao principles for targeted enlightenment, enabling rapid understanding of more profound magic and boosting combat power.

There are even enlightened beings who can bring their disciples directly into their Dao to observe the workings of the Heavenly Dao and swiftly understand Dao principles."

Upon hearing this, Qin Shou’s eyes lit up, and he exclaimed, "That’s amazing? Gang, can you do that?"

When Wu Gang heard this, his expression turned serious, and he solemnly said, "Rabbit, listen to me. The words I’m about to say, you must remember them! Otherwise, if your foundation in the great Dao is unstable in the future, don’t blame me for not warning you!"

Seeing Wu Gang so serious, Qin Shou also straightened up and said, "Go ahead."

Wu Gang said, "Unless a Saint is teaching, never, ever enter someone else’s Dao to observe the workings of the Heavenly Dao when they try to take you with them!"

"Why not?" Qin Shou asked, puzzled.
