Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten
Chapter 373: Proposal

Seventh floor, General Manager’s Office, Zhengshi Company.

Han Wenwen, dressed in a tight secretary outfit, was alone in the office practicing how to serve tea and perform proper etiquette. With a mock-serious expression, she bowed gracefully toward the empty executive chair and said, “Boss~ please have some tea.”

She felt it wasn’t seductive enough, so she adjusted her pose.

With her hips pushed out a little more, she perched on the edge of the desk, holding the teacup with both hands. “Boss~ have some tea~”

After a few more rounds, she was satisfied with her performance. But when she looked over her shoulder, her lips pouted slightly. “Why isn’t Zhengran-gege back yet? Where’d he go anyway?”

Ding—

The elevator on the seventh floor chimed.

Han Wenwen’s fox-like ears twitched. “Zhengran-gege?” She hurried to the door.

Sure enough, Lin Zhengran was walking toward the office at his usual unhurried pace.

“Zhengran-gege—ah no, President Lin, you’re back?”

Lin Zhengran glanced at her coquettish and flattering demeanor. As he passed by, he casually gave her a smack on the butt. “Don’t stick it out so much. I already know how good your figure is.”

Han Wenwen’s cheeks flushed as she stared at him settling into his chair. “Knowing it and showing it are two different things. It’s just like how girls keep working on their figure even after getting a boyfriend. It’s all to keep a tight grip on Zhengran-gege’s heart.”

Leaning back in his executive chair, Lin Zhengran gave her another glance. “You’ve already got a pretty tight grip. How was your first day learning from Pan Lin?”

Han Wenwen turned around and quietly shut the office door behind her, locking it with a click.

She walked slowly toward him, one hand lightly trailing along the desk as she moved, every step deliberate and seductive.

“It went great. Sister Pan said the hardest part about being a secretary is understanding the boss’s preferences—and everyone’s different, so that’s the trickiest part. But~”

She stopped beside him, then deliberately sat down on his lap and looked him in the eye.

“For Wenwen, that’s actually the easiest part. I know all of Zhengran-gege’s habits—down to how long you take to eat, what colors you like, what kind of clothes you prefer, and even... how to make you happiest in certain situations.”

She spread her hands. “So it’s been super easy for me to learn. As for the actual job stuff, I’m still a little shaky, but give me a few more days and I’ll be right on top of it.”

Lin Zhengran could tell from her restless little gestures that she was clearly in one of her moods again.

Once she got like this, there was no stopping her. If he didn’t respond, she might even cry like she had once before.

He reached for the teacup, but Han Wenwen quickly offered, “Let me!”

She gently held the cup with both hands and brought it to his lips, repeating the line she’d been practicing. “Boss~ have some tea~”

Lin Zhengran took a sip.

Han Wenwen asked, “How is it?”

“Mhm. Tastes like tea.”

A double entendre.

Han Wenwen blushed and gave him a playful glare. Then she raised the cup and finished the rest herself. “Of course it tastes like tea, silly.”

Lin Zhengran gave her outfit a more thorough look.

Black stockings, high heels, tight pencil skirt stretched taut over her thighs as she sat on his lap—and that unmistakable little fox scent that belonged only to her.

He rested his hand on her thigh, gently stroking.

Feeling the warmth of his palm, Han Wenwen bit her lip. “How does it feel, Boss? I picked these stockings just for today. They’ve got a better texture.”

“Not bad at all.”

Han Wenwen leaned in. “Also, Sister Jiang and Sister Pan won’t be back for another couple of hours. Just before you got back, Sister Jiang took the remaining files with her. She said you worked hard this morning, so she’d handle the rest and let you relax this afternoon.”

Lin Zhengran and Han Wenwen shared a knowing smile.

His hand slipped beneath her blouse, wrapping around her slender waist.

Han Wenwen responded by wrapping her arms around his neck.

“Boss~ what do you wanna do to your little secretary?”

“Want to give you a gift.”

“A gift?”

Han Wenwen leaned closer, their noses brushing together.

Her fox-like eyes blinked slowly, lashes fluttering with meaning. “What kind of gift? Is it tasty?”

“Can’t eat this one.”

“There’s something on Zhengran-gege that isn’t edible? I don’t believe it~”

To her surprise, Lin Zhengran reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box.

“Here. Definitely not edible.”

Han Wenwen hadn’t expected an actual gift—she thought the “gift” was code for something else.

Stunned, her eyes cleared as she focused on the exquisite little box. “What’s this?”

“Open it and see. I made it myself.”

“You made it yourself?” Her eyes lit up as she gently straightened her posture and carefully took the box, opening it slowly.

She was curious what could be inside.

But when she finally saw it, Han Wenwen froze.

Her pupils widened with joy, and she instinctively covered her mouth. Her voice trembled, “I-Is this... a ring...?”

Inside the box, a diamond ring sparkled brilliantly under the sunlight.

Lin Zhengran took it out.

Engraved on the inner band were the initials of Han Wenwen’s name.

“Originally I was going to wait until after graduation to propose... but because of some recent events—” (specifically that lost ring incident with Jiang Jingshi) “—I decided to do it a little early. Though the wedding will still wait until after graduation.”

He looked at the little fox whose hands were still covering her mouth.

Her heart was racing—she hadn’t expected this today of all days.

Lin Zhengran asked, “Wenwen, will you marry me after we graduate?”

Han Wenwen’s eyes turned red as tears welled up. She was briefly stunned, then dropped her hands and answered without hesitation, “Yes! Of course I will! From the day I met Zhengran-gege, I’ve been your little fox, and I’ll always belong only to you.”

She slowly held out her hand.

Lin Zhengran slid the diamond ring onto her left ring finger.

Seeing it in place, he couldn’t help but smile. Han Wenwen lifted her hand, the ring sparkling like stars against her delicate, pale fingers.

She looked at him, overwhelmed with emotion.

Sniffling, she burst into tears.

“Zhengran-gege… Wenwen loves you so much.”

She threw her arms around him and began sobbing into his chest.

The once flirtatious atmosphere was completely replaced with emotion.

Lin Zhengran had to hold her and comfort her, gently patting her back and stroking her head. “Alright, alright, no need to cry like that.”

Han Wenwen buried her face in his neck. “But it’s a proposal! Being proposed to by Zhengran-gege is the happiest thing that’s ever happened to me. I never thought it would be today. I love you so much.”

Of course, after the emotional wave passed and she cried her heart out—

Han Wenwen’s mood swung right back up. Her excitement reignited, she kissed Lin Zhengran hard on the lips.

“I want you... I want Zhengran-gege... I need you...”

And then, the room was swept up in a wave of passion.
