Chapter 589: Coordination-based Event

Three days later, Terrance received news from Sharan.

The Bug-type event was won decisively by Leo’s Galvantula.

For the Grass-type event, Fujiki participated. Her Roserade was extremely strong, not inferior to Ninetales, but still suffered a crushing defeat.

She lost to Wallace, who used a Ludicolo.

“That means Wallace has now won three events: Water, Ground, and Grass.”

This time, the event leaned more toward coordination than any before. In fact, it was practically a replica of the first round of a Pokémon Contest, the Performance Stage.

Participants needed to send out a Normal-type Pokémon and have it use four moves together to create a performance.

Then the panel of judges would score based on both “practicality” and “coordination.”

And the most interesting part of this event is that if the Normal-type Pokémon uses four moves of the same type, its base score will be the lowest. If the four moves include two different types, the base score increases. If the four moves include three different types, the score gets even higher.

In other words, to win the event, it’s likely that the participant’s Pokémon needs to use a combination of four moves from four different types to create a sequence that not only demonstrates coordination but also has practical combat value.

Terrance felt nostalgic about this event. It had been two years since he last participated in a Performance Stage, hadn’t it?

Next… maybe he could relive that stage together with Castform?

After Sharan registered Terrance for the event, he was assigned a later performance slot, which meant Terrance could return toward the end of the event.

With hundreds of participants, even if each performance took just five minutes, the event would last several days, wouldn’t it?

While the Normal-type event was going on, other events were also taking place simultaneously.

Trainers who entered two or even three events had their slots in the Normal-type event scheduled toward the end, so it wouldn’t interfere with the other events happening at the same time.

And it had reached its most intense phase. Albus, the winner of the Fighting-type event, appeared once again with his Lucario, making many believe that the Steel-type event was now a foregone conclusion. Unova’s former Elite Four, Leo!

Leo and Albus both participated in the festival as Trainers. No matter which of the two ended up winning, it was a blow to the reputation of the Coordinators.

So the scales of victory tipped entirely in Leo’s favor.

As for the Ice-type event, it followed the Steel-type competition and was structured around crafting ice sculptures on the sea for judging.

The more complex, larger, more ornate, more majestic, and more lifelike the sculpture, the higher the score it received.

This was also an entertainment event focused on coordination. As for the winner… just as Terrance had predicted, it was taken by Wallace without any suspense.

His Walrein first precisely stirred the ocean using Surf, and then, almost instantly, Sheer Cold swept out and a massive beast, Kyogre’s ice sculpture, emerged on the sea’s surface.

Whether in terms of speed or aura, it far surpassed all other participants by several levels. For the extraordinarily high score Wallace received in this event, not a single person present voiced any objections.

Some even believed, based on Walrein’s performance, that Wallace’s mastery of Ice-type move was no less impressive than that of Master Lorelei, the Elite Four from the Kanto region.

And after both the Steel-type and Ice-type events concluded, the Normal-type event had also progressed to nearly halfway…

At the scene of the Normal-type event, a female Top Coordinator slowly stepped onto the stage.
