Chapter 32: Chapter 30: I Believe in Him
"Young man, human life is crucial, so it’s better to let them help the old man to the hospital quickly. Don’t waste time!"
An elderly man, who seemed to have a sense of justice, gently urged Xiao Yi.
"Young man, sorry, we appreciate your kindness, but you don’t have a medical license, and you’re not a doctor. We absolutely won’t let you touch the patient."
The security captain was taken aback when he heard Xiao Yi clearly assert that he wasn’t a doctor. He then said with a face full of determination, and as he spoke, his look towards Xiao Yi carried a hint of disdain; he inwardly cursed, "Damn it, you’re not a doctor, so stop making a fuss."
After speaking, he waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to start carrying the old man downstairs to the hospital.
The two security guards who had been crouched beside the old man and had been shouted at by Xiao Yi, upon hearing that Xiao Yi was not a doctor, glared at him indignantly. Seeing their boss’s instruction, they immediately reached out to lift the old man.
"Smack! Smack!"
Xiao Yi, seeing the guards were about to lift the old man, could no longer hold back. He dashed forward, pushed the two guards away with one hand each, and then turned his intense gaze to the bewildered and undecided girl, "Miss, are you sure you want them to take him to the hospital now?"
"I..."
The young girl looked at Xiao Yi’s expression and then glanced at the old man lying on the ground, her expression full of hesitation.
"You there, what are you doing! If you are here to cause trouble, I won’t be polite!"
The security captain never expected Xiao Yi to be so bold as to push away his subordinates and block their rescue attempt. His anger could not be contained as he yelled, and then he turned with irritation to the young girl, "Miss, this young man doesn’t even have a medical license, he can’t possibly save anyone. It’s better we rush the gentleman to the hospital quickly, or it will be bad for everyone if something goes wrong!"
His tone had become quite stern.’
After speaking, he was already prepared to have his subordinates lift the old man again.
"I believe him!"
But just as he was about to act, the girl who had been hesitating suddenly gathered her courage, looked up at Xiao Yi, and spoke.
"What?"
Everyone thought they had misheard and looked at the young girl in shock.
The security captain also thought he had misheard, and after a while, he stared at the young girl incredulously, "Little girl, what did you just say? Did you not hear what I just said? This young man, he doesn’t have a medical license!"
"I believe him!"
The girl, having made her choice, didn’t hesitate and repeated her earlier words, her gaze fixed on Xiao Yi.
"Miss, I hope you understand that by making such a choice, if something happens to the elderly man, our Book City will not be responsible. All these friends present can witness that."
The security captain said with a stern face.
"Don’t worry, you don’t need Book City to take responsibility. If anything goes wrong, I’ll take responsibility."
The little girl hadn’t said anything yet when Xiao Yi beside her had already lightly taken over the conversation. Initially, he had a good impression of these security guards, but later, he felt that all their actions were merely to shirk responsibility, and his heart was left with only a trace of disgust.
As he spoke, a shining silver needle had already appeared in Xiao Yi’s hand. He glanced at the girl beside him with a confident smile, then turned his head, slowly took the long needle, and stabbed it down towards the old man’s neck.
"Ah, this is the Taiyi Divine Needle Technique!"
A cry of astonishment suddenly erupted from the crowd.
"Really? Are you sure this is the Taiyi Divine Needle Technique?"
Another person who also seemed to be studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, holding a thick ancient medical book in his hands, eagerly asked in surprise upon hearing the cry.
"There’s no mistake, I’ve read about it in an ancient book. It’s recorded just like this, it’s about using qi in the needle method!"
The person who spoke first said excitedly.
"Indeed, it’s true. I’ve also seen that description. Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I’m witnessing the legendary Taiyi Divine Needle Technique!"
Another traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in the crowd also shouted.
Listening to a few old traditional Chinese medicine doctors excitedly discussing in the crowd, Xiao Yi’s lips curled into a sneer as he glanced at those who, when the security had asked if there were any doctors present, had been actively retreating but were now eagerly pushing forward, extending their necks. Taiyi Divine Needle, huh?
Although other people in the crowd didn’t know what the Taiyi Divine Needle was, having never even heard of it, seeing the excited expressions on the faces of the few, they all grasped one piece of information: this young man, who didn’t even have a medical practice license, was not a fool, nor a simpleton, and certainly not insane or an idiot. In fact, he might really know medicine!
The girl beside him, though she had said she trusted Xiao Yi, had done so without reason; she had merely been watching his eyes, feeling that his gaze was particularly sincere and clear, involuntarily giving her a sense of trust. When she saw Xiao Yi actually begin, her heart was suspended. But now, hearing the discussions and excited tones of the old doctors, it seemed that this young man truly wasn’t clueless or reckless, and she involuntarily began to relax a bit.
However, since the grandfather hadn’t woken up yet, her relief was only momentary, and soon she refocused her attention on the old man, her eyes becoming urgent again.
"Hmm cough!"
About three minutes later, accompanied by Xiao Yi gently pulling the silver needle out of the old man’s body and a pat on his back, the old man suddenly opened his mouth and let out a light cough.
"Grandpa!"
Upon hearing her grandfather’s cough, the girl immediately excitedly supported her grandfather, tears of joy in her eyes as she called out.
Everyone in the crowd, seeing the old man come round, also looked at Xiao Yi with awe, astonished that this young man, who looked like a boy barely in his twenties with no medical qualification, had actually managed to save the elder.
"Ah, my dear granddaughter, what happened to me just now?"
The old man opened his eyes bewilderedly as he looked at his granddaughter who was both laughing and crying, remembering only a jolt in his body and feeling as if something had heavily struck his head, then plunging into endless darkness, losing consciousness completely.
"Grandpa, you just fell down... Thankfully... thankfully this young man helped, otherwise..."
The girl gratefully raised her head, looking towards Xiao Yi beside her.
