—————————— "Young man, was it you who saved me?"

Upon hearing his granddaughter’s words, the old man followed her gaze to Xiao Yi standing behind him and asked somewhat incredulously.

"Sort of, uncle. You have high blood pressure. Do you have any paper and a pen? I’ll write you a prescription. Although it might not cure it completely, it should still be somewhat effective."

Xiao Yi put away his long needle and smiled faintly.

"Grandpa, of course it was him who saved you. Didn’t you see him standing beside you? Ah, paper and pen, I have them, right here."

The girl slightly chided her grandfather with a bit of coquetry, grateful to Xiao Yi for having just saved her grandfather. Seeing her grandfather still seemed somewhat incredulous, she felt a mix of awkwardness and dissatisfaction. Upon hearing Xiao Yi’s request, her face brightened, and she eagerly pulled out a steel pen and a pink notebook she always carried and handed them to him.

Xiao Yi took the pen and notebook from the girl and began to swiftly write. After finishing, he handed it back to the girl, saying, "Take it daily for one month."

"Heh, young man, great kindness doesn’t need to be thanked. There’s no way to repay a life-saving debt. I don’t have much on me today, just this piece of jade. Although it’s not worth much money, I carry it with me. I’ve been in G City for decades, and I have some connections. If you ever find yourself in a difficult situation in the future, you can come to the Han Family with this Jade Pendant. As long as it’s within my power, I’ll do my best to help you with one thing, as gratitude for today."

The old man, having heard his granddaughter’s words, realized that it was indeed this young man in his twenties who had saved him. Seeing him write a prescription, he felt even more grateful and said, while searching his person, he could only produce an ancient-looking Jade Pendant and handed it to him.

Upon hearing that the old man was from the Han Family, the onlookers issued another round of exclamations, and their gazes towards Xiao Yi shifted from admiration to eyes filled with bloodshot veins and envy.

The Han Family, ah!

The four great families of G City: Zhao, Han, Li, and Zeng.

The Han Family is ranked second, only behind the most mysterious Zhao Family; an invincible presence!

In both the political and business spheres, they are a family with absolute influence!

The elder speaking, with his demeanor and tone, clearly held an unusual position within the Han Family. Receiving his assurance was akin to receiving a promise from the Han Family itself!

What does receiving a promise from the Han Family mean?

It means, no matter what your status or position was before, from now on, your life will change completely. You’re set to soar to new heights!

"Uncle’s intentions are well received, but it was merely a small effort on my part; please don’t mention it,"

However, while everyone else looked at Xiao Yi with eyes full of envy and jealousy, he simply and gently rejected the Jade Pendant offered by the old man.

"Wow!"

The crowd was astounded when they heard his words.

"Is this kid stupid or what?"

"Judging by his looks, he must be a country bumpkin. He probably doesn’t know what the Han Family signifies."

"Most likely. Otherwise, how could he be such an idiot? A promise from the Han Family, what an opportunity this is!"

"..."

The crowd began to whisper among themselves.

The old man hadn’t expected Xiao Yi to refuse. Startled for a moment, he thought Xiao Yi might not know about the Han Family’s status in G City, but he did not explain this directly. Instead, he subtly smiled and said, "Young man, you should take it. Maybe you don’t need it now, but perhaps one day, it really could help you."

"Sir, I really don’t need it. I appreciate your kindness, and if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now."

Xiao Yi frowned. He obviously wasn’t foolish and could hear the murmurs of the crowd, knowing that this Old Man Han must be a significant figure. Yet, he completely didn’t think that he would actually need the old man’s help.

Having said this, he didn’t wait for the old man to say anything else and directly turned towards the direction of another elevator going downstairs.

"Young man, wait a minute. What is your name, and where do you live? I would like to visit you one day to express my gratitude!"

Seeing Xiao Yi was firm in his refusal, truly not just pretending, Old Man Han grew confused, unsure if it was due to pride, disdain for his family, or ignorance of the Han Family’s power. He hesitated again, seeing Xiao Yi turning to leave, and hurriedly called out. No matter what, he had to find a way to repay the young man who had saved his life.

"Xiao Yi. Like I said, it was just a small effort; no need for a home visit."

Xiao Yi paused, spoke, and then without hesitation, quickened his steps forward, leaving a lonely figure to the people behind him.

"Xiao Yi, Xiao Yi."

The old man repeated Xiao Yi’s name softly and with a confident smile in his weathered eyes, turned to look at his granddaughter. He noticed she was still staring thoughtfully in the direction Xiao Yi had gone, only returning to her senses after a while. He then reminded her, "Lu, stop staring. The Little Divine Doctor has already left. Let’s go. Don’t worry, as long as he’s still in G City, we can always find him and thank him."

"Mm, Grandpa, be careful, I’ll support you."

The girl snapped out of her trance, replied shyly, and hurriedly helped her grandfather, following the path Xiao Yi had taken.

Now that the crowd knew they were from the Han Family, they looked at them with involuntary respect. Seeing the two approaching, everyone naturally made way. Nearby security guards followed closely behind, sweating with caution as they escorted them downstairs, recalling the close call that the elder had almost faced in Book City.

Xiao Yi walked out of Book City, looked up at the sky; evening was just settling in with street lights starting to glitter here and there.

Pulling out his old, worn mobile phone, Xiao Yi checked the time and headed straight for the bus stop to catch a ride home.

However, Xiao Yi had only walked a few steps when he sensed he was being watched and trailed. His eyebrows arched slightly, and a cold smile appeared on his lips. Pretending to be unaware, he took a few more steps forward and then abruptly stopped, turned around, and looked directly toward the direction where he felt the surveillance.—-------------
