Chapter 159: Chapter 161 The Descent of the Exalted Highness

"Passing through this door will allow us to leave the Death Maze," said Poor Tiger, pointing to the giant portal suspended in the air.

Mu Can sighed, relieved to finally be able to leave this place, believing himself to be the first, and could hardly wait to depart.

After solemnly bidding farewell to Poor Tiger, Mu Can and Purple Cloud stepped through the portal.

"I’ll come back to find you later," Poor Tiger and the little demon waved and shouted, for though they had not known each other long, a deep friendship had already been established.

Crossing through the portal, an exceptionally vast and open space appeared, within it an ancient altar sat as though it had always been there, emanating an age-old aura.

"Mu Can has left the Death Maze, ranking number one," a notification sounded in everyone’s ears.

Mu Can, with Purple Cloud, ascended the altar not knowing what material it was made of, and noticed that it still bore traces of slashes from swords and knives, some spots even had dark red blood that shimmered faintly.

"This altar is no ordinary object," Purple Cloud said with a solemn expression, feeling an extraordinary pressure from the blood, surpassing even that of Immortal Venerables.

It was clear that those who had spilled their blood on the altar must have had a very high level of cultivation.

"Transcendence into sanctity," Purple Cloud reflected, wondering about the kinds of battles that must have been fought here.

Mu Can gently touched the traces on the altar, observing a massive knife mark as if witnessing a peerless Swordsman fiercely slash it, the blade gleaming coldly as it struck the altar.

"Excellent swordsmanship," Mu Can felt, as if the dazzling strike transcended the years and swung before him.

Purple Cloud’s expression was stern, while Dumb and Little Red both fell silent, the altar before them was shrouded in mystery.

"Look over there," Dumb spoke up, pointing out several ruins surrounding the altar; Mu Can looked closely and saw some unidentified creatures’ remains.

Time seemed not to have left its mark on those remains; one could see a giant humanoid creature split into two, falling to the ground, its posture unaltered since the moment of its death.

"Let’s go up here," Mu Can discovered a path leading to the top of the altar and carefully guided Purple Cloud up.

Even with the protection of the Immortal Realm Supreme at his side, Mu Can still felt a chill upon him.

The space atop the altar was not as expansive as imagined; it was a small plaza.

In the center of the plaza stood a tall stone tablet, onto which indecipherable characters were inscribed; Mu Can focused but found that he couldn’t make out the engravings.

"I can’t see clearly either," Purple Cloud peered, her eyes emitting two beams of light onto the stone tablet, but it was as if a layer of mist enveloped it, obscuring any words.

"There’s Immortal Fruit," unable to discern the words on the stone tablet, they could clearly see the offered Immortal Fruits before it.

"Are those Immortal Pills?" Tiny elixirs gleamed.

Purple Cloud looked with a befuddled expression at the offerings before the stone tablet; those Immortal Fruits were something even the Immortal Realm Supreme did not often possess.

"Investigation," Mu Can whispered, but found that the No. 36 in his ear seemed to have become useless here, unresponsive no matter how he called for it.

Purple Cloud pointed to the incense on the offering table, "Little guy, look at that incense, if I’m not mistake, that must be Soul Summoning Incense."

"Soul Summoning Incense?"

In the ancient legends of the Immortal World, there was an incense that could summon higher realm immortals, realms even loftier than the Immortal World, and if Purple Cloud was not wrong, then lighting the incense beside the censer could bring forth the Creator who made this place.

Mu Can strode towards the offering table, indifferent to the mystical stele now that he had come this far, having survived against all odds.

Unhindered, he reached the table and gently picked up the incense next to it, lighting it above the candle and carefully inserting it into the incense burner. He then bowed three times towards the stele.

"Boom."

Under a clear sky spanning thousands of miles, a flash of lightning streaked across, making the entire space tremble.

The smoke from the burning Soul Summoning Incense slowly rose into the air, dissipating at the top of the stele, the air filled with the scent of the incense’s aroma.

The fog swirling around the stele gradually disappeared, allowing Mu Can to see the inscriptions on it.

"Gao Tianzun."

He had learned from Poor Tiger that the Great Power creating the Death Space was called Gao Tianzun. He never expected that the name on the stele would also be Gao Tianzun.

"Boom."

Another tremendous clap of thunder sounded, tearing a giant rift across the sky.

Through the rift, Mu Can could see a gigantic planet lying beyond.

A figure passed through the crack, exuding an ethereal presence, with billowing clothes that gave the impression of an immortal being.

"Boom."

Lightning struck again, viciously hitting the figure. He staggered, cursed, then plummeted heavily from the clouds, crashing to the ground with a loud thud.

"Damn." Mu Can couldn’t quite believe his eyes; a Great Power capable of creating such an expansive space had been struck by lightning.

It wasn’t until the figure, billowing with black smoke, flew up to him that Mu Can confirmed he hadn’t seen wrong. This powerful being, Gao Tianzun, had indeed been struck by lightning.

"Senior." Mu Can greeted with a bow.

"No need for formalities. Looks like you are the first one this time." Gao Tianzun looked Mu Can over, seemingly pleased.

Mu Can nodded and respectfully replied.

"Would you be willing to become my disciple?" Gao Tianzun asked.

Mu Can felt like his mind just couldn’t keep up; a Great Power who could create such a magnificent space wanted to take him as a disciple.

If Mu Can didn’t have the Creator of the Reincarnation Pearl behind him, he certainly wouldn’t pass up such an opportunity, but now, after some consideration, he could only refuse.

"Senior, I already have a master," Mu Can shook his head, flatly refusing Gao Tianzun.

"Do you realize what you’re missing out on?" Gao Tianzun, hearing this unexpected reply, asked.

In the vast expanse of a million realms, it would be a mere trifle for someone to be taken as Gao Tianzun’s disciple. Facing such an opportunity, Mu Can still refused, which made Gao Tianzun question whether Mu Can was a fool.

"Senior, I understand that you are a Great Power who created this space, but I already have a master, and cannot pledge myself to another," Mu Can asserted with conviction. Even though the Creator of the Reincarnation Pearl still had tests for him and he was not yet an Official Disciple, Mu Can already regarded this unnamed Great Power as his own master.

"Hmph, ignorant fool, let’s see what’s so peculiar about you." Gao Tianzun’s expression turned from sunny to overcast, and he made his move in an instant.

A smoothly spinning round bead began to emerge slowly from Mu Can’s body, floating in front of him—a gesture that pulled the Reincarnation Pearl, hidden within Mu Can’s body, out.
