Chapter 111: 090 Put away those unhealthy thoughts in your mind (2 updates)_1

Lu Han had left for half an hour, yet Tang Su still felt her entire body burning hot; her temperature was even higher than when she had a fever before.

If this were in the hospital, the nurse taking her temperature would surely get a good scare.

Thinking about the implications in Lu Han’s words, Tang Su wished she could get better right away.

That’s it, she couldn’t take it anymore—why wasn’t she feeling shy at all?

She’s a girl, after all. It’s a relief that Lu Han had left, otherwise, with her looking so expectant, it might seem like she was overly eager.

What would Lu Han think of her if he knew?

Tang Su snapped back to reality when a call from Sun Qing pulled her soul back.

When Lu Han left, he placed Tang Su’s phone on the bedside table and even thoughtfully charged it for her.

Sun Qing had stayed overnight at the little tavern last night, not for any particular reason. Old Tan got drunk too, and Bai Dingxian called a designated driver to take him home. Bai Dingxian refused to take Sun Qing home, so the couple had no choice but to let Sun Qing stay the night.

After all, as a girl without the company of a trusted man, they really didn’t feel secure handing over a beauty like Sun Qing to a stranger.

Though often unreliable, Bai Dingxian came from the strict Bai Family where unless he intended to marry a girl he wouldn’t act out of line.

Sun Qing overslept in the morning and was late for work. Figuring she was already late, she went back to her dormitory to take a shower and change clothes before heading to the company.

Sun Qing was an entire hour and a half late; her tyrannical boss, Lei Wei, was furious when she found out. She threatened to dock Sun Qing’s monthly, quarterly, and even annual bonus.

Sun Qing counter-questioned, "Does the company have regulations that deduct so much bonus for being late?"

Sun Qing knew that Lei Wei was just acting high and mighty, having intimidated many young girls and youths in the company for too long.

The company was founded by her grandfather. The successor would either be Sun Qing or her older brother, Sun Yang.

In fact, neither of the siblings had much interest in inheriting the company. Sun Yang had loved painting since childhood and was determined to become a painter.

Sun Qing also admired freedom, but since her brother was born a few years ahead of her and chose to pursue his passion, she had no choice but to be coerced by Grandfather Sun’s mock pity from a young age.

Grandfather Sun often said that of his two grandchildren, one had already chosen freedom, so the other must live for the Sun Family. At the very least, she should consider the fact that her grandfather was getting old and wouldn’t be able to protect them for much longer.

Without a choice, Sun Qing gave up her ambition to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry and shrunk back to the Sun Group—to work.

Sun Qing was ready to pledge allegiance to the Sun Group, to relieve her grandfather of his worries, but she hadn’t considered sacrificing her own marriage for it. Yet, her grandfather used his old tactics, trying to force her into submission.

Sun Qing was unwilling, but their grandfather had raised them with difficulty, and for their sake, he had even turned against his own flesh and blood—their father.

Sun Qing and her brother could say they were brought up by their grandfather. Their mother had died when Sun Qing was young, and their father established a new family with another woman less than a year after her death.

Everyone believed that it was their father’s affair that led to their mother’s fatal car accident. As a result, not only Sun Qing and her brother refused to acknowledge their father, but even Grandfather Sun disowned his son, Sun Zhengliang.

Even though Sun Zhengliang had three more children with another woman, two sons, and a daughter, Grandfather Sun never allowed the five of them to enter the Sun Family home.

Consequently, Sun Qing harbored great guilt toward her grandfather. After all, he could have enjoyed his old age surrounded by his children and grandchildren, but for their sake, he resolutely turned his back on his son and other grandchildren.

How could Sun Qing bear to disappoint such a loving and protective grandfather in his twilight years?

However, Sun Qing had her own basic principles in life. She could sacrifice her freedom, dreams, career, and honor for the Sun Group and her grandfather.

But she would never use marriage to gain any advantage.

Though Sun Qing had had so many boyfriends, Tang Su knew that deep down, she yearned for a passionate love.

It’s just that, for some reason, fate had been so cruel to Sun Qing, letting her meet men over the years who she only had a good impression of. With such impressions, she would want to develop a relationship, but time taught her that a good impression was just that, and it couldn’t develop into love.

The later Sun Qing learned to restrain herself, no longer actively pursuing someone just because she had a good impression.

She would only take initiative once she confirmed it was love.

Otherwise, in the eyes of others, she would appear as a woman with loose morals.

After all, not everyone can be as understanding as Tang Su, with a perfect score in comprehension.

Sun Qing actually envied Tang Su, who could harbor a crush on Lu Han for so many years from an initial love-at-first-sight, only to finally see the clouds part and the moon shine through. The two had truly waited for each other.

She was too envious of such love.

The success of Tang Su’s relationship had reignited Sun Qing’s longing for love.

Originally, she thought that if she was still unmarried at thirty, she would follow her grandfather’s plan, marrying whoever he arranged for her.

But now, her heart, still as dead water, began to stir once more.

Sun Qing made the call at that moment because she had finished her work and after having a confrontation with Lei Wei, she took a break to have lunch. Today’s lunch was a cup of milk tea paired with an extra-large burger.

Sun Qing also wanted to find out the progress between Tang Su and her cool and distant male god.

After waiting so long for Lu Han, did Tang Su get drunk and throw herself at him that very night?

Sun Qing felt that Tang Su had the guts to do such a thing and was indeed the type of person who could pull off such a stunt.

Despite Tang Su’s seemingly obedient appearance, the more innocent she looked, the more likely she was to go all out when faced with someone who could make her do so.

Tang Su had been with Ye Sichen for nearly two years and he hadn’t even gotten close to her body, which only goes to show that Ye Sichen completely lacked the ability and charisma to make Tang Su go all out.

But Doctor Lu, he had everything Ye Sichen lacked in spades.

As soon as the call connected, Sun Qing blurted out, "So, how did it go? Did you get him?"

Tang Su frowned, "What do you mean, ’did I get him’?"

"The guy, Doctor Lu, didn’t you go home last night and pretend to be drunk?" Having been best friends for so many years, Sun Qing thought Tang Su was just playing dumb with her.

Tang Su: "..."

So, in Sun Qing’s eyes, this was the kind of woman she, Tang Su, was?

After all these years of being utterly devoted to her, she had to deal with Sun Qing seeing her like this?

"Cough, cough—" Fuming, Tang Su couldn’t help but cough twice.

"So what does that mean, did you get him or not?" Sun Qing persisted with the question.

"I have a fever, I caught a cold, can’t you tell?" Tang Su said with a hoarse voice.

Sun Qing finally realized and was about to express concern when her imagination kicked in, rivaling Bai Dingxian’s.

"Damn."

"..."

What the hell?

This woman, her speech was just too uncivilized.

Tang Su thought, frowning.

"Tang Su, I had no idea you both were so formidable. In the end, was it an equal match or did you surrender early on?" Sun Qing’s eyes twinkled mischievously with excitement.

Tang Su: "..."

"There was no equal match, no surrender... in short, nothing happened. Get rid of those unhealthy images in your head. I have a cold, I have a fever, and I was at the hospital this morning getting three IV drips."

"You’re really sick? What’s the matter? You’re only in your twenties, how can your health be so poor? How about I find you a traditional Chinese medicine doctor to get you back in shape, how does that sound?" Sun Qing stood up, not noticing the milk tea that she spilled everywhere in her haste.

Lei Wei came out of the restroom and saw the mess Sun Qing had made in the corridor.

That morning, Lei Wei had intended to pick on Sun Qing for being late for a long time, expecting her to apologize, but instead of apologizing, Sun Qing had told her to report it if she wanted to.

Lei Wei had actually reported it a few times, but it never had any real effect. Sun Qing’s salary wasn’t affected at all, she hadn’t even lost any bonuses.

Lei Wei had inquired with finance, and they said the payroll was sent from headquarters after auditing and that there was nothing they could do.

The finance numbers clearly stated how much Sun Qing was supposed to be paid, and they had to dispense it accordingly. They couldn’t risk their jobs by deducting from an employee’s salary unofficially.

Knowing she couldn’t threaten Sun Qing, Lei Wei was just venting her frustrations; she still had to report it, figuring that even if it didn’t affect Sun Qing’s pay, it might intimidate other employees with less seniority.

She just didn’t understand what Sun Qing was counting on to act so brazenly at their branch.

From the general manager down to the janitor, she knew everything about everyone at the branch, except Sun Qing – she was the only mystery.

Investigations had been futile.

All she knew was that Sun Qing was from out of town, not a local from Hua City. She really didn’t understand what an outsider was doing in their city.

"Nice going, Sun Qing. Goofing off at work is one thing, but now eating secretly on the job and making such a mess of the floor? I guess tonight’s cleaning shift will be on you."

"Heh, Vice President Lei, when you get moved to HR and become the boss, then you transfer me to logistics, you can give me that order then."

After retorting to Lei Wei, not wanting to burden Tang Su with her work issues, Sun Qing said to the phone, "Tang Bao, let’s not talk about it now. I’ll hang up and come see you when I’m on vacation. Take care and don’t forget to take your medicine."

"Sure, go ahead," Tang Su nodded.

Sun Qing didn’t even bother to acknowledge Lei Wei as she headed to the restroom to grab a mop and clean the area she dirtied, ignoring the mess made by others.

Lei Wei just stood there watching.

Later, when Sun Qing came out of the restroom, Lei Wei with her arms crossed, "Sun Qing, I’m really curious, whose bed at headquarters did you climb into that makes you so fearless? Hmm?"

Sun Qing looked at her and with a slap, her hand struck the face of Lei Wei, the old witch.
