Chapter 996: Chapter 989: All-out Strike

Luo’er gave the order, and everyone on alert rushed to the entrance of the tomb. By then, the tomb’s door had already been sealed. Seeing this, Luo’er was frantic and immediately commanded loudly, "Feng, use all your strength to break through!"

"Got it!" Feng nodded, and then with a few graceful steps, she moved to the front of the group. She gathered her energy and spirit and swung her hand in an upward strike.

The dense magical power stored within her body transformed under her guidance into a tangible Sword Qi, tearing through the ground in a visible form, shooting straight towards the door.

Bang!!!

The Sword Qi heavily collided with the sturdy door of the tomb, emitting thunderous roars. Its power was so great that it caused the door to tremble for a good while. However, regretfully, Feng’s strike did not completely break open the door, only leaving a deep dent on its surface.

At the moment the Sword Qi struck the door, everyone saw the flickering runes on it. Clearly, the door was inscribed with Defense Runes, which meant mere magical attacks would have a hard time being effective against it.

"Damn," Seeing that the door hadn’t been broken open as hoped, Cheng Ziang cursed, and then sighed, "If only we had an RPG, that thing would definitely blow it open."

"That’s not necessarily true, this door is inscribed with Defense Runes, it’s not that simple to blast open," Luo’er said.

Her first strike unsuccessful, Feng was not discouraged. She took a deep breath, then turned her head to Tangmo and said, "I’m going to strike with all my might."

"Mm, go ahead, I’ll help you recover quickly afterward," Tangmo nodded.

Although there wasn’t a formal title of guardian between them, Tangmo fulfilled the responsibilities of one. Therefore, when encountering magical issues, Feng was still willing to follow Tangmo’s advice.

With Tangmo’s approval, Feng confidently turned back, raised her long sword to her brow, with the tip pointing at the door, and once again concentrated her energy. This time, she planned to draw out most of the magical power in her body for the attack.

An immense amount of magical power flowed through the meridians in her body, forming a halo visible to the naked eye in her hand. Feng’s body and cultivation method were similar to that of the Seven Injuries Fist, which meant using an excessive amount of magic to burst the meridians, allowing her to become stronger once the meridians recovered.

She held the sword with her right hand aimed at the door, her left palm pressing against the hilt. As she circulated her energy, everyone could almost feel the immense power bursting from her small frame.

Even if the vast magic amassed around her did not shoot out, the mere force of it exploding on the spot could knock everyone present off their feet. Moreover, as it would be a burst of magic, build-wise weaker individuals like Luo’er would inevitably be injured.

Feng took more than ten seconds to regulate her breath and circulate her energy; suddenly, she thrust her long sword forward. The moment the Sword Qi took shape and left her sword, it exploded into a dazzling flash of light.

Then, the invisible and colorless Sword Qi, which could nonetheless be sensed by the naked eye, sped towards the door at great velocity and slammed heavily into it.

This attack caused even more intense vibrations. The Sword Qi’s strong collision made the door’s runes stand out prominently, indicating that the Defense Runes were operating at full capacity.

Although it was unclear whether the door was inscribed with magical Defense Runes or physical Defense Runes, in the face of Feng’s attack, they all seemed incapable of withstanding the hit.

Feng’s all-out strike pierced straight through the door, leaving behind a huge hole, and the remaining force dislodged the door’s hinges from the wall, causing it to thunderously collapse onto the ground with a loud rumble.

"Luo’er, watch out!" Just as the door fell, stirring up billows of thick smoke, Fulajie’er, who was on guard, shouted out in alarm and without hesitation activated a Defense Shield.

Luo’er’s eyes widened as he saw countless bullets suddenly appearing on the invisible shield. After the rumbling subsided, he heard the familiar, intense sound of gunfire.

Being a soldier from Earth, the moment he heard gunfire, everyone had an instinctive reaction to find cover and lie down. Luo’er was no exception. After taking a glance at the shield peppered with bullets, he decisively threw himself to the side.

As he ducked behind cover, Fulajie’er gave up on maintaining the shield. Luo’er immediately heard the hair-raising whizzing sounds overhead – the sound of bullets cutting through the air.

"Ah, how come these people still have guns, damn it, what on earth is their background?" Luo’er asked loudly, crouching on the ground and holding his head.

"Could it be those people sent by the CIA again?" Cheng Ziang asked loudly from behind cover.

"Hard to say," Luo’er pursed his lips, then furrowed his brows as if he thought of something, then he began to mutter to himself, "This is strange, isn’t Liseya supposed to be out there by now? Why is there no sign of her at all?"

"Want me to go check it out?" Fulajie’er offered herself eagerly.

"Go immediately and scout the situation outside to see what the deal is with these people!" Luo’er nodded and ordered.

"Roger that, I’ll go right now. Remember to be extra careful while I’m gone," Fulajie’er instructed, concern written on her face.

"Don’t worry, we can’t move right now anyway, ouch." Luo’er said, but could not help yelping as a stray bullet ricocheted dangerously close to him, causing a terrifying collision sound that gave him quite a scare.

From the sound of the gunfire, it was clear that the enemy’s firepower was not weak. There were plenty of semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons, and their Advance Team didn’t stand a chance against such enemies.

In past battles, the Advance Team was typically the aggressor, but now, being on the defensive, their meager firepower could not compete with the enemy. Forget the scores of gunmen on the opposite side; even dozens of armed monkeys could suppress them to the point where they couldn’t even lift their heads.

After watching Fulajie’er disappear, Luo’er felt slightly more at ease, then turned and shouted to Tangmo, "How’s Feng doing?"

"He needs time to recover!" Tangmo replied loudly while helping Feng onto a mat, then turned his head back to answer.

"Looks like we’re going to be stuck here for a while with no way to deal with those guys out there." Hearing the news, Luo’er shook his head in resignation.

With that, he knocked his head forcefully, then bent down to check the weapons in his arms. Baiyue took cover right next to Luo’er and said, holding a sniper rifle, "Want me to try sniping?"

"Don’t be rash. As soon as Feng recovers, dealing with them will be easy. The immediate priority is to make sure they don’t blow up the mausoleum’s gate," Luo’er said.

"Hmm," Baiyue nodded her head and then leaned against Luo’er, both of them with their backs to the barricade, but her eyes never left him.

"What is it?" Noticing her gaze, Luo’er turned to ask.

"Oh, nothing, nothing," Baiyue averted her eyes, shaking her head with a shy expression, and seeming to think of something, she then asked, "It’s strange if Liseya has gone into action, she should have taken care of the people outside by now. Why haven’t we heard anything yet?"

"Could she be under control?" Luo’er glanced at Cheng Ziang, who was looking worried, then turned back to ask.

"That’s possible," Baiyue surprisingly affirmed his suspicion.

"Really?" Luo’er exclaimed, his eyes wide in disbelief.

"According to the laws of the Otherworld, it’s impossible to kill Liseya unless her life’s vulnerable point is destroyed, but it’s pretty easy to restrain her," Baiyue stated earnestly.

"How so?" Luo’er asked.

"Do you remember how we closed the Otherworld Gate when we were at Lipei?" Baiyue countered.

"That," Luo’er thought for a moment, and then it dawned on him, "You mean!!!"
