Chapter 995: Chapter 988: Unknown Incoming Enemy

"Feng, stay alert and be ready for battle at any moment," Luo’er continued.

"Roger that." Feng nodded vigorously, then placed her right hand on the hilt of her blade.

"There’s no need to be that sensitive." Seeing her actions, Luo’er shook his head helplessly with a smile.

After instructing Feng, Luo’er turned around and noticed Cheng Ziang staring silently at the device in his hand that contained Liseya’s spirit. He walked over and asked, "What, you’re planning on taking this thing with you?"

"What are you thinking," Cheng Ziang said with a wry smile, shaking his head and then sighed, "I’ve thought it over and decided to put it in the coffin. My ancestors couldn’t reach their loved one in the end, so I want to put her soul and remains in the coffin so that they can be interred together."

"You don’t plan to take her back to our base? Her strength is on par with Fula, you know," Luo’er said.

"Even thinking about it is unrealistic, isn’t it," Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes, then shook his head and said, "She has been alone in this cold tomb for so long, she might have grown accustomed to this feeling of solitude. Even if we bring her back, unable to be with her lover, she would still feel lonely. So, it’s better not to. I think, as her descendant, she would prefer to be with her lover."

"It’s rare to see you so sentimental. I always thought your heart was tough as nails," Luo’er teased.

"Stop making fun of me. Do you think it’s better for me to become like you, surrounded by a bunch of women all day?" Cheng Ziang retorted teasingly.

"There aren’t a bunch of women around me," Luo’er said, feeling embarrassed.

"You know it in your heart. Once you’re back at the base, you can enjoy being embraced from both sides again," Cheng Ziang said with a half-smile.

"I don’t have women on both sides. Those young girls have nowhere to go, so they can only stay temporarily at our base. Once the Mingming Plan starts, they’ll all become busy," Luo’er explained rather excitedly.

"Ah, there’s no need to make excuses. I’ll take this thing back to the tomb to place it first. You finish up here and then meet up with me in the tomb," Cheng Ziang said and then waved at Feng, saying, "Feng, keep up!"

"Eh!" Feng blinked, hesitating as she looked towards Luo’er.

"Go on, we’ll come out and meet up with you guys in a bit," Luo’er waved his hand and said.

With Luo’er’s permission, Feng immediately scurried to follow Cheng Ziang. The passageway was rugged, but she moved swiftly, completely disregarding the terrible terrain.

Without Liseya’s restraint, Tangmo and the others’ speed had notably increased. Although Liseya’s gaze never left Cheng Ziang, as long as she stayed in the room, she brought an intangible sense of oppression to everyone. After all, she had single-handedly killed so many people over the past few centuries.

In fact, gods are not entirely invincible, let alone demigods or false gods. The best way to escape a god’s pursuit is to hide in a space without magic, as then the god has no magic to use against their target. So, if you’re being hunted by a god, you’re essentially safe if you hide on Earth.

However, in Otherworld, there are no absolutely magic-free spaces, so until the connection between the Otherworld Gate and Earth was established, the people of Otherworld had no way to escape from gods, not even from demigods.

There are essentially two methods for dealing with Liseya. First, since Liseya is a demigod and therefore has a vulnerable point, destroying it would disperse her soul, and that’s one.

Second, use magic similar to the Light Singularity or Magic Barrier to completely clear out the magic in a certain area, creating a safe zone. Although this won’t kill Liseya outright, it can restrain her for a time, giving teammates a chance to destroy Liseya’s vulnerable point.

As such, there are actually many ways to limit beings like Liseya and Fulajie’er, but the only way to kill them is to destroy their vulnerable point. Otherwise, neither physical nor magical means are sufficient to pose a direct threat to demigods.

Of course, these are just practical solutions. Theoretically, a more cost-effective approach would be to convert these demigods to one’s own side, which not only eliminates the need to destroy them but even necessitates protecting them.

Just like now, with both Liseya and Fulajie’er on their side, the Advance Team could directly enter this terrifying tomb that had been untouched for hundreds of years without any hindrance and take away whatever they deemed valuable.

Therefore, it was indeed too one-sided to only consider killing or being killed. The best approach was to make more friends and fewer enemies. That way, no matter what kind of problem arose, it could be addressed smoothly.

The group busied themselves in the room for about an hour and finally recorded most of the Ancestors’ legacy, then prepared to leave. In due time, if headquarters needed them to, they could send the Advance Team back to the tomb to retrieve these items.

After completing all this, they left the room and returned to the platform in the burial chamber, where the Magic Crystal Lamps were still not extinguished, making the entire tomb as bright as day.

While Luo’er and the others were busy inside, Cheng Ziang had already gathered up Liseya’s remains from the ground, placed them in the coffin, and then also placed the device inside it, allowing his ancestor to realize their centuries-old wish to be interred together.

After closing the lid of the coffin, Cheng Ziang looked up and gazed affectionately at Liseya, who was floating in mid-air. Liseya appeared very grateful for his action. Although she lacked pupils, Cheng Ziang could still feel the tenderness in her gaze.

"Great ancestor, you can finally be together. It’s time for me to leave, but I will come back to visit if I have the chance," Cheng Ziang earnestly said, his attitude completely different from his usual indifference.

Liseya caressed Cheng Ziang’s face and hair with her hair floating in the air, while absorbing magic power and emitting a humming sound.

She was very conscious of her own destructive power, so every time her hair touched Cheng Ziang, she subconsciously reduced the magic power concentrated in her strands to avoid injuring her descendant with excessive magic.

Seeing such a loving gesture, no one would dare to believe that she had killed countless people with her magic over the centuries. Hands stained with blood could also tenderly hold flowers.

Cheng Ziang gazed at her affectionately, clearly reluctant to part with Liseya. The thought of her continuing her lonely vigil in the tomb filled him with an inexplicable sense of melancholy as a descendant.

"Ziang, it’s time to go," Luo’er stepped forward a few paces and raised his hand to motion to Cheng Ziang.

"Oh, okay," Cheng Ziang nodded and then took a deep sigh.

Just as he was about to say something more to Liseya, he suddenly felt the tenderness in her completely disappear, replaced by a chilling, bone-piercing aura.

She moved away from Cheng Ziang, rising into the air, drifting back and forth uneasily, and making a humming sound like the low growl of a wild beast sensing danger.

Before the group had time to react, Liseya whooshed towards the entrance of the tomb. Unlike Fulajie’er, Liseya almost never concealed her form, or perhaps she didn’t have the means to do so.

The others watched the scene unfold in stunned silence, even Cheng Ziang didn’t understand why Liseya had suddenly changed. At that moment, Fulajie’er suddenly appeared in mid-air and said anxiously to Luo’er, "Luo’er, many people have come outside, and they are setting up bombs, seemingly intending to blow up the tomb’s entrance."

"What’s going on? Why would these people not come in, but instead want to destroy the tomb’s entrance?" Luo’er asked in shock and dismay.

"It’s very likely they’re targeting us," Cheng Ziang coldly analyzed, then turned to Fulajie’er and asked, "Fula, order Old Hu to set up machine guns outside for our support!"

"He had already discovered their traces, so he had preemptively moved to higher ground," Fulajie’er reported.

"Well done," Luo’er nodded in satisfaction and then addressed everyone, "Let’s head to the entrance immediately, we absolutely can’t let them blow up the tomb’s entrance."

"Yes!" Everyone responded in unison.
