Chapter 987: Chapter 980: Tana’s Wariness
Tangmo and Baiyue rushed forward to grab Luo’er’s arms, but they were completely unable to stop his movements. Luo’er seemed like an entirely different person, his body violently struggling. To him, the petite Tangmo and Baiyue were like tiny boats in a storm, powerless to resist.
"Stop, Tana, don’t forget you are a god; you have no right to control others, not even the Elf Race!" At this moment, Axia, who stood aside, shouted loudly. Tangmo and Baiyue clearly felt Luo’er’s body convulse violently in response.
Following that, he let out a ghastly howl and then, with force, broke free of Tangmo and Baiyue and smashed the Prime Fluid against the sturdy stone wall.
"No!" Talis screamed with all her might, her nearly-stopped heart making her body follow the Prime Fluid as she threw herself toward the stone wall, attempting to catch it before it could be destroyed. However, her speed was clearly not as fast as the Prime Fluid’s, and her seemingly heroic act was merely in vain.
Just as she felt utter despair, a small and agile figure suddenly darted out, racing towards the stone wall, and managed to catch the Prime Fluid before it hit, then rebounding forcefully and rolling several times on the ground, clutching the Prime Fluid tightly.
"Nice, Feng, well done!" Cheng Ziang exclaimed with surprise and couldn’t help but give a thumbs up.
The newcomer was indeed Feng; she had been following the group all along but had been concealing her presence, so much so that everyone had failed to notice her, thinking that the group consisted only of those present.
In that critical moment, she had suddenly stepped forward and intercepted the Prime Fluid that Luo’er almost destroyed. This must have been the first time she had intervened in the affairs of the Advance Team based on her own judgment, instead of blindly following orders as before.
Cheng Ziang lunged forward, grabbed Luo’er around the waist, and threw him heavily to the ground, vigorously shaking the Soul Summoning Bell at his neck.
Thanks to his efforts, Luo’er’s gaze gradually cleared, and then he looked around, bewildered.
"Was I controlled again?" Luo’er looked around, then asked with a face full of panic.
"You might say you turned into Tana," Cheng Ziang sighed with relief, patted Luo’er’s delicate cheek, and then stood up, pulling him to his feet.
As soon as he stood up, Talis marched over with a furious demeanor, pointed at Luo’er, and said, "See, it’s dangerous to entrust the Prime Fluid to you. Now you should give it to me, right?"
"You’re thinking too much," Cheng Ziang said, dusting off his hands and speaking with a smile, "It’s only dangerous to give it to Luo’er because he was controlled by Tana. But we in the Advance Team have plenty of people to entrust it to, anyone is better than giving it to you. Just because of one accident, you think you can jack up the price?"
"I don’t trust you," Talis said through gritted teeth.
"Then get out, get out of the tomb," Cheng Ziang said, darkening his face and staring at her, "Right now, you’re alone and have contributed almost nothing to this mission. What right do you have to flaunt and dictate in front of us?"
"Sorry, I, I don’t know what came over me..." Luo’er apologized guiltily, walking up to Cheng Ziang with the help of Baiyue.
"This has nothing to do with you; indeed, we were negligent," Cheng Ziang shook his head and also couldn’t help but wonder, "Why is Tana so sensitive to the Prime Fluid? Could it really free Xiapei Kam from her constraints?"
"The words Luo’er blurted out during his rampage were in Elvish," Baiyue looked at Luo’er, then said to him.
"Elvish?" Cheng Ziang was taken aback, then turned to Luo’er and said, "Luo’er, say it again."
"I’ve given my knowledge of Elvish back to my mother..." Luo’er said, finding himself in a difficult position.
"You can’t take the Prime Fluid back, you can’t let Xiapei Kam be freed; she will destroy the entire Elf Race..." Just then, Axia suddenly interjected, seemingly out of nowhere.
"What do you mean?" Upon hearing her words, everyone’s eyes widened.
"That’s what Luo’er, or rather Tana, was saying in Elvish just now," Axia said coldly.
"So you’re saying Luo’er was directly possessed by Tana?" Baiyue asked with a frown.
"Exactly, but it’s strange," Axia said, furrowing her brow, "Tana normally wouldn’t do such an outrageous thing. What happened this time? Why is she so wary of the Prime Fluid, and why is she so convinced that it can liberate Xiapei Kam from its bindings?"
"Let me see your hand, is it injured?" On the other side, Tangmo, while taking the Prime Fluid that Feng was holding tightly, checked her for injuries with concern.
"This hurts." Feng pointed to her elbow and told the truth.
"It’s just a bruise, it will be better after I rub it later," Tangmo sighed, then reached out and rubbed Feng’s little head, feeling very much like an older sister.
Luo’er had once designated her to look after Feng, so in a sense, Tangmo was Feng’s guardian, which naturally gave rise to a sense of responsibility as a guardian.
"This time Tana has directly stepped in to possess Luo’er, and even the Soul Summoning Bell is of no use against her. It seems we’ve really hit her sore spot. We’d better hurry to Xia Yue Island as soon as possible and free Luo’er from Tana’s entanglement—the sooner, the better." Cheng Ziang said with a furrowed brow and in a grave tone.
"Sorry..." Luo’er began to apologize habitually, but he stopped abruptly upon seeing Cheng Ziang’s unfriendly look and swallowed his words.
"Apologies are useless now. We’ve found the Prime Fluid, but we’ve yet to find the Ancestors’ Holy Book. Luo’er, make a decision quickly. Do we head south to Xia Yue Island first, or continue exploring other tombs in search of the potential Holy Book?" Cheng Ziang said with a frown.
"Let’s hear everyone’s opinion. I’m not in good shape to make a decision right now," Luo’er said sincerely.
"Alright, that’s good," Cheng Ziang nodded, paused, and then said, "We’ve previously found the Ancestors’ Holy Book in the Marching Tomb, but we couldn’t get it because of that puppet. My suggestion is that we head south to Xia Yue Island first, take care of Luo’er’s issue, then return to our base to regroup, and go straight to the Marching Tomb. No matter what, we must retrieve the Holy Book from there."
"Yes, I think that’s a good idea. Now that we have the Prime Fluid, it’s as if we have the chance to go to Xia Yue Island. We cannot delay Luo’er’s matter; the sooner we take care of it, the sooner he is freed from Tana’s entanglement," Baiyue said, nodding and expressing her agreement.
"Moumou, what do you think?" Cheng Ziang turned to ask Tangmo.
"As long as it’s for Luo’er, it doesn’t matter to me how we do it," Tangmo shrugged and said.
"Great, since that’s the case, I guess we don’t need to listen to Luo’er’s opinion anymore, right?" Cheng Ziang said, looking meaningfully at Luo’er.
"Alright, alright, whatever you decide is fine," Luo’er shook his head and said with a wry smile.
"In that case, let’s not delay any further. We’ll set out immediately," Cheng Ziang commanded, "Moumou and Yue’er, take a rough inventory of the items here, and submit it to headquarters as an exploration report. Moumou, give the Prime Fluid to Feng, and let her look after this thing. Don’t let a certain Night Elf walk off with it."
"You..." Talis was so angered by Cheng Ziang’s blunt warning that she was at a loss for words.
"Luo’er, come and discuss the upcoming arrangements with me, and remember to stay away from Feng, so you don’t lose control again," Cheng Ziang continued to admonish.
"I know, don’t make it sound so terrible," Luo’er shook his head, but he wasn’t upset by the comment.
"Can I help record these things, too?" Axia stepped forward and asked respectfully.
"Oh, please do, Aunt Axia," Cheng Ziang nodded, then turned to speak with Liseya, applying for Axia’s whitelist. He still showed enough respect for Axia.
"Thank you," Axia nodded slightly, then stepped forward and walked towards a metallic polyhedral cube.
It appeared to be a chest, the whole of which was an irregular cube. Axia bent down to examine the chest. She must have pressed something, as the metallic chest began to deconstruct and transform by itself, followed by an elongated rectangular metal plate that rose slowly up from the middle of the box.
