Chapter 89: Chapter 89 Your Husband Can Thank Me Later

"You scumbag, how dare you talk back to my boss? I’ll slice that tongue out of your...argh!"

"Oww!"

"Ughh!"

"My arm!"

The gangsters cried out in pain one after the other as Jett either sent them flying backward with a kick or stomped his foot hard on their abdomen.

Two minutes later, he was pressing the gang leader’s face into the ground, hands buried casually in his pockets.

"Didn’t I tell you I’d bury you if you cussed at me again?"

The gang leader, unable to believe his gang had been reduced to such a story state by a man in fancy suit, was trying hard to remove his leg all to no avail.

The harder he resisted, the harder Jett pressed his foot against the side of his face.

"What? Do you think I won’t dare to bury you here?" Jett suddenly snorted and glanced at the gangsters groaning in pain.

His eyes darted to the various tools they had brought with them to beat him up and he couldn’t help chiding them.

"Shovels, axes and daggers? You’re gangsters not carpenters, why go around with tools like these?"

The gangsters were rendered speechless by his question, but quickly hid their faces in fear when they met his cold gaze.

"Your gang leader doesn’t believe I’ll make true my threat. So make yourselves useful and start digging a hole large enough to fit him."

The gangsters froze at his words. Even though Jett had defeated their gang leader, he was still their leader.

Gangsters were know for being loyal to their leader no matter what. So how could they possibly obey Jett?

Already knowing they’d resist, Jett flashed them a cold smile.

"You can’t do it? Make me do it and I’ll dig a hole wide enough to accommodate every one of you."

That did it.

They needed to remain alive to remain loyal to their leader anyway.

Ignoring the excruciating pain from their broken bones, they got up on their feet and grabbed their tools.

Seeing this, their gang leader shuddered in fright and stopped resisting, realizing he had underestimated Jett.

"Spare my life! It was wrong of me to try to lay hands on a woman. Please, spare my life!"

The place went dead silent.

The gangsters also halted.

Fearing Jett wouldn’t believe he was being sincere, the man grew desperate and latched onto his leg, "I will do whatever you ask of me. I’ll do anything if you spare my life!"

Jett roughly shook his hands off him and glanced behind his shoulders.

This woman behind him said nothing the entire time, but he could feel her piercing eyes boring a hole into the back of his head.

Despite returning her gaze, she didn’t bother to look away and stared him in the eyes.

A small frown crept onto his face as he recalled she did the same thing when these gangsters tried to attack her earlier.

If he hadn’t shown up when he did, they would’ve totally dealt with her and ruined her face like they promised.

This face of hers, although appearing delicate, had very sharp features.

Her cheekbones were high and prominent, giving her a lofty appearance, but there was also a slight amount of baby fat in them making her appear cute and approachable.

Her slightly puckered lips...

The man hurriedly looked away from her and squeezed his eyes, mentally chiding himself for checking out another man’s wife.

Ten seconds later, he peeled his eyes open, returning them to the man squirming like a worm underneath his foot.

"What that lady asked you, give her an answer."

The words had just left his mouth when the gang leader eagerly began spilling, "She was asking for some medicinal herbs. I don’t know anything about that, but our Darki village is known to be a place where rare herbs grow."

"We have a farmer who grows all kinds of herbs. I’m sure he’ll know what she’s looking for. Say the word and I’ll take her to him right now!"

Upon hearing him, Kelsie walked to stand beside Jett, "Direct me there, I’ll find the farmer on my own."

As the gang leader parted his lips to retort, Jett suddenly pressed him down on the floor again, saying stoically, "I’m looking for someone. A young man in his early 20s. 5"11, blonde with blue eyes. Where do I find him?"

The gangster was silent for a second before he stuttered fearfully, "I-I don’t know who that he is. He must’ve run here today. Give me an hour and I’ll find him for you!"

Jett withdrew his foot a second time and took a step backward.

But as soon as he did, Kelsie stood in front of the man, "Direct me to this farmer."

The gang leader who was dusting off the dirt on his body, paused, his eyes momentarily darting to Jett as if seeking approval.

Sure enough, Jett snorted, "This is Darki, a village crawling with gangsters. Literally. We found such bold and obnoxious gangsters on the first street. What kind of gangsters do you think you’ll find when you go deeper?"

Kelsie turned to him, her expression stony and unreadable as she said in reply, "I came here without you. Do you think I would go somwhere I don’t know without knowing one or two moves?"

Staring at her small frame, the man pressed his lips into a thin line.

Yes, she had thrown a fully grown man on the floor at the apartment building yesterday, but that was probably because the man in question didn’t have any stamina.

Most wealthy scions mostly cared about their physical appearance. So even if they spent hours in the gym everyday, the only thing they had to show for it were their muscles.

If she was counting on that strength of hers to help her through Darki, then what a foolish plan.

He huffed in irritation and looked away from her when he realized he was worrying about her.

She didn’t want his help to begin with. And he had no reason to help.

He came here to find that lousy first-year, not to help a woman he barely knew.

However, despite convincing himself she was none of his business, he still couldn’t get his eyes off her as the gang leader gave her directions.

In the end, he pulled the gang leader with him, leading the confused man to where Kelsie parked her car.

Kelsie, who thought he was walking behind her to get to his car, was surprised when he pulled open the front passenger’s door and slipped in.

The man nonchalantly fastened his seatbelt and crossed his arms across his chest, eyes pinned on the road in front of him.

"Make no mistake, I’m only in this car because I know you have children. They’re still too young to be without a mother. Your husband can thank me later."
