Chapter 87 Gangsters In Darki
Chapter 87: Chapter 87 Gangsters In Darki
The road to Darki wasn’t travelled on very often as it was known to be filled with bandits and armed robbers who didn’t mind committing daylight robbery.
Not only was there no police station in Darki, it was also a lawless village where literally anything could happen.
Kelsie didn’t know this.
She had listened to Laura and her friends brag about the various places they had been to in the past and they never mentioned a place called Dark.
So when Zade called her, she was tempted to tell him a place like that didn’t exist, but wanted to confirm by checking the map on her phone, only to see it was two hours away from Silicone Valley.
As she drove through the quiet street, she found it odd that no single soul was on it. It was streets were unbelievably neat too.
In fact, this place didn’t look like a village at all. For a place no one spoke of, she expected it to be filled with bushes, potholes and mud houses, but all she saw were tarred roads, beautiful flowers and brick houses.
She drove for a bit more until she saw a group of men huddled together in front of a stall.
Hearing her car approach, they naturally paused what they were doing and turned their heads to see who it was.
Elated to finally see people she could ask for direction, Kelsie got out of the car and approached them.
"Excuse me, i was told I could find a rare merdicinal herb around here. It’s a quick remedy to stop bleeding and it helps with snake poisoning." She said, taking out her phone to show them a picture of the plant Zade had forwarded.
As the men turned to her fully, a trace of realization crossed her eyes seeing the heavy gold chains and tattoos all over their body.
Most importantly, they all had a skull with a cutlass lodged into it on the back of their hands.
The men glanced at each other, a lewd smile tugging the corners of their lips as they pretended to glance at her phone.
Then a robust man who was still smoking behind them, tossed his cigarette to the floor and stubbed it out with his foot before flashing his tobacco stained teeth at her.
"We’ve never seen such a herb before."
Kelsie nodded in understanding, turned off her phone and took a step backward, "Oh, is that so? Thank you for your help."
Then she turned around to leave, but the robust man suddenly snatched the phone from her grasp and sighed tiredly when she turned to him again.
"Pretty Miss, are you new in our country? Don’t you know when you ask for information, you give something in exchange for it?"
Kelsie, who already smelt trouble when she saw their tattoos, sighed inwardly in exhaustion.
She really wasn’t in the mood to deal with these gangsters today.
Hence, she just nodded in agreement and reached for her purse. She counted out some bills and stretched it towards them, a polite smile creasing her face.
"Of course. Here, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate."
However, the robust man suddenly burst into laughter. The gang members joined him almost immediately.
They laughed for a moment before the robust man abruptly stopped laughing, prompting those behind him to do the same
Throwing his face to the side, he placed a hand on his waist and scoffed.
"Pretty Miss, you’re quite funny. Don’t you know information makes the world go round? How could you offer us that little for something so important?"
"Take out the rest of the money in your purse. I saw a few cards, take them out too. In fact, hand over your purse and your car key then you can go."
"What?" Kelsie didn’t know when she snorted out a laughter.
The man reached out to scratch the bridge of his nose, raising a daring brow, "You can’t do it? Do you think these are too much for the previous answer we just gave you?"
At this, the other gangsters closed in on him, flexing their muscles threateningly in a bid to scare her.
The corners of Kelsie’s lips twitched, suddenly realizing why she didn’t see anyone in the street.
The distant look on her face led the gang leader to believe they had scared off and a wicked grin broke out on his face.
"Pretty Miss, we are busy men, you know? If you’re too tired to hand over your purse and car key, we will do it for you."
Then he pointed at one of his boys.
"Take those things from her."
The person had just taken a step forward when Kelsie sighed and put away her pause, placing the car key in-between her fingers.
It was already hard to earn money, so how could she give away her bank cards and her only chance of returning back to Silicone Valley?
She would rather beat up these gangsters and lose her chance of finding the herbs.
Seeing her defiance, the smile on the gang leader’s face faded and his eyes darkened instantly.
"Are you refusing to hand them over? You must not know where you are. Let me jug your memory a little bit. We are at least two hours away from civilization."
"Even if we kill you here, no one would know. Even if they do and actually send people here, two hours is more than enough time to hide away your body."
"Are the things in your purse and the car key things you’re willing to risk your life over?"
"Bold of you to think petty gangsters like you can end me." Kelsie chuckled, casually stretching her body, warming up for the fight.
The man’s eyes lit up in amusement, "Wow, look at that! You’re suddenly all powered up. We are not in Silicone Valley, so we don’t care that you’re a woman."
"I’ll give you your second and last chance to hand over your purse and car key. Refuse again and my boys will ruin that pretty face of yours."
Kelsie gently shook her head in refusal, slipping a hand into her pocket.
"Unfortunately, I can’t. I have a herb to find, so come at me."
"Bitch, are you looking down on me?" Hearing her casual tone which screamed of unseriousness made him grit his teeth in anger.
Then he lashed out at his boys, "What are you still waiting for? Ruin that face of hers and drag her here!"
The gangsters nodded unanimously and grabbed the baseball bats lying around.
The first person to close in on her had just taken a swing at her head when a firm hand reached out and pulled her out of the way.
