Chapter 86: Chapter 86 You Have One Year To Find A Wife

Boyce’s face instantly twitched in embarrassment before he moved his face away and laughed angrily.

"What did you just say to me? How dare you be so cocky with me when I’m trying to save Adler Group from going under?"

"Have you not seen the news? Your name is in the top five hot searches. Not only are people worried about getting a homosexual man as a role model for their children, they’ve also called my attention to something very important."

"Grandfather never fully handed Adler Group to you. You’re just looking after it in his place. Did he say anything about who he’d be passing the company to? Is that why you had him put in a coma?"

A cold glint flashed past Jett’s eyes hearing him.

Boyce, who was ever too familiar with this gaze, took another step backward and cockily continued mouthing off.

"What? Why aren’t you saying anything? You were saying a lot just now. Have you suddenly lost your tongue now that I’ve caught on to your cruel schemes?"

"If you don’t want the public to learn of this, quietly step down from your position as company president!"

His words had just fallen when Jett swiftly closed the distance between them, not giving him the chance to retreat any further.

Boyce’s eyes bulged in fear and he tried to move away, but Jett’s veiny hand shot out and roughly grabbed the back of his neck.

Even the shareholders were stunned by this sudden violence.

They were used to Jett keeping silent when he didn’t want to say anything, but this was the first time he was physically reacting to anything.

However, before they could voice out their displeasure, Jett was already giving Boyce a warning which didn’t sound like a warning, Vice President Boyce Adler, I’ve been with our grandfather for the past 24 hours trying to figure out what is going on with him."

"And in those 24 hours, I’ve not had a second of sleep and as such, I am very impatient and irritated right now which is why I want to assure you that if you do not put an end to this charade right this moment, my next words to you will be me firing you."

From such a close range, Boyce could see his eyes clearly.

The dark bags underneath his eyes and the faint streaks of blood in his eyes coupled with the words he had just said, scared him greatly.

He was already scared of Jett when all he said were words. Now that he realized he also has such a strong grip, he was even more scared.

He clenched his trembling hand and gulped down nervously, eyes darting across the room refusing to land on Jett’s face again.

Knowing he had scared him straight, Jett released his grip on him and turned to face the shareholders with a polite smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

"My apologies, there is no emergency meeting."

However, the shareholders who were displeased with Jett’s actions just now refused to take what just happened lightly.

"Really? Intimidating the vice president into staying quiet?"

"Why? Are you guilty of what he said? Did you really do something to your grandfather?"

"He has always had your back so we won’t be surprised if you got angry and hurt him after finding out he didn’t will the company to you."

"Do what your the vice president said and step down. The public are already saying unpleasant things about you. Once they start associating those rumors to Adler Group, we will be facing a terrible backlash."

Jett swept his gaze across them before apologizing again, "I apologize. I will hold a press conference and take care of the public opinion right away."

They shook their heads in refusal.

"It’s not about apologizing. Yes, you will apologize, but it doesn’t make it right. Once people start associating us with certain things, it’ll be difficult to break free."

One of the people on Jett’s side scoffed irritatedly.

"So what do you want him to do? He can’t change the way he’s wired. Just like you can’t change the way you’re wired."

The angered shareholders shot back at him almost immediately.

"No one is telling him to change the way he’s wired. We’re just telling him not to harm the company because of that."

"Exactly. If he can’t help himself, he should step down as the president of Adler Group. If he wants to tackle these issues one after the other, it’ll take time and our reputation could be smeared by then. The best decision is to step down as president."

And thus, the argument between the two sides began.

"When did liking men become an issue? He has been that way for several years now and Adler Group has fared well."

"That is true, but unlike them, people are now saying he put his grandfather in a coma. We all know Elderly Mr. Adler is old so it won’t be easy for him to wake up."

"Do you think our company will continue to fare badly with news that it’s president caused his grandfather to go into coma?"

Just as they were about to get louder, Jett stepped in, "I will get proof that I never did such a thing and when I do, I will get a written apology from everyone who said I did it."

Hearing him, the place fell silent.

Then one of the angry shareholders turned to him, "That won’t cut it. Introduce to the public a woman you wish to marry."

"We don’t care if you continue with men behind her back, we just want the public to dismiss the thought that you’re not into women."

"If you can do both, we will do as you say and give you your written apologies. You have just one year to find a wife."

A minute later, Jett was heading outside.

But he had only taken two steps forward when somsone stood in his path fuming in rage.

"How dare you embarrass me during the meeting? Don’t you dare think I let you off this time because I’m scared of you!"

"If grandfather doesn’t wake up in a few weeks and you can’t find any proof that you didn’t do it, I won’t hold back anymore. I will personally drag you to the police and publicize what you did!"

The corners of Jett’s lips twitched impatiently and he parted his lips to say something, but the phone in his pocket suddenly began buzzing.

Seeing it was Eric calling, he completely forgot about Boyce’s existence and strutted past him, pressing the phone against his ears.

Boyce was infuriated at being ignored and screamed out a few curses Jett still pay attention to.

"We found the nurse. He’s hiding in Darki, the rural village just outside Silicone Valley." Eric reported as soon as the call connected.

Jett hummed, "I’ll be right there."

Meanwhile, Kelsie received a call from Zade begging her to visit Darki for a rare medicinal herb he heard grew there.

So she rented a car and headed out.

At the apartment building, inside the apartment on the 49th floor, Zade and Keira giggled when they saw the affirmative text from their mother.

"Cheers in advance to legally becoming my adorable niece and nephews!" Daniel was the happiest as he eagerly clinked glasses with Zade and Keira.
