Chapter 75: Chapter 75 Jerry Sutton’s Long-Term Plan

Kelsie paused and glanced back at him.

"What?"

The man slipped both hands into his pocket as he repeated, "Be my bodyguard. The equivalent of my life that I just sent to you is what I’ll pay you every month."

She glanced at the credit alert again and scoffed.

"If this is the equivalent of your life, how is it you still have another to spare in one month? Shouldn’t the equivalent of your life be everything you have?"

A small smile creased his lips as he shook his head in refusal.

"My skill and family is worth a lot, but as a person, that’s all I’m worth. But if you accept to be my bodyguard, the worth of my life would surely increase and so will your salary."

Kelsie slipped the phone into the pocket, not bothering to think about the offer as she shook her head in refusal.

"I’m not fit enough to be your bodyguard."

Then she tried to take a step forward, but the man made her halt for the second time when he blurted out, "Then... why don’t I be your bodyguard?"

Kelsie subconsciously looked him over and shivered from the audacity.

"You have all those muscles, but couldn’t defend yourself earlier. Why would I waste money on a man who can’t even protect himself?"

Serbian Howard felt the bridge of his nose in embarrassment.

"Physically? Yes. But when you think of it, I’m a scary figure in Silicone Valley. Furthermore, mentioning that you’re friends with a member of the Howard family is enough to get you entrance into a lot of places."

"I may not be able to defend you physically, but merely mentioning my name and putting a call to me will save you in numerous situations. Think about it?"

Kelsie immediately raised a questioning brow, "Your family has that much power?"

The man, thinking she was finally seeing reason with him, beamed as he nodded, "Of course. Ask anyone here and they’d tell you."

A thoughtful look suddenly appeared on her face as she smacked her lips together in thought. free.webn\ove(l)(.)c(o)m

"That is odd. I seem to remember three thugs who were on the verge of killing you despite knowing that."

"If your family’s name can’t even protect you, how should I trust that it would protect me? Don’t raise my hopes, Mr. Howard. I’ll be leaving now. Have a nice day and life."

Serbian speechlessly watched as she strolled out of the cafeteria with her hands buried in her pockets.

But instead of getting offended by what she said, a happy smile settled on his lips.

However, his happiness was short-lived as he began feeling a constant buzz in his pocket and took out his phone to answer the call.

One glance at the name sprawled across the screen, and his face instantly turned grim.

But he still answered and pressed it against his ears. As soon as the call connected, the enraged voice of a man came through the other end.

"Where did you keep your phone last night? Your grandfather saw the news about the contest tournament."

"A noob? How dare you lose to a noob? The Howard family has spent millions training you to become the best in Silicone Valley, but you ended up losing to a noob at a small contest?"

"Get your useless self to the house right now and receive your punishment! Waste any more than 30 minutes outside and I’ll personally send people to go break your legs!"

The man whose eyes had brightened a minute ago, slowly darkened again as he blandly spat into the phone.

"Okay."

As he left, Kelsie went up to her apartment. .

After checking up on her children who were now awake, she went to her room and sat in front of her laptop, inserting the flash drive again.

She repeatedly watched the video her mother left to see if she missed anything the first few times, however, she saw nothing.

One hour later, she was about to take out the flash drive when she saw a logo at the wall behind Lois Fletcher.

Whatever it was, It was cut in half because of the camera’s position. So despite turning the laptop to various angles, she still couldn’t deduce what the logo could be.

Then she took out her phone to take a picture of it, but even after uploading it to a search engine, it didn’t match with anything.

Furthermore, the logo was cut in half which made it possible for it to be analyzed properly.

She was still debating on what to do when her phone lit up with a new email.

It was an impromptu meeting by the chairman of Lumen Group involving the shareholders, board of directors and board members.

Kelsie would’ve looked away if she hadn’t seen the subject of the meeting.

Renaming the company and expanding? So that was his plot all these while.

No wonder he was in such a hurry to get his hands on her shares.

She leaned back and searched up Clinton Smith on the internet. His details popped up alongside his business phone number.

She pushed her chair backward and she got up on her feet dialing the number.

"Is this Clinton Smith’s office? Please inform him Kelsie Sutton is on the line and will like to talk to him about getting back something my mother left him."

Meanwhils, Jerry Sutton was barely able to contain his excitement as he prepared for the meeting.

He glanced at his wife who was quiet on the bed, assuring her, "Don’t just sit there and watch me, hurry up and change into one of your pretty dresses."

"That brat will no longer pose a threat to us. I’ve gotten her shares, so she won’t be present during the meeting."

"All I need is my beloved wife and daughter to back me up when I make the proposal. That way, we can paint an elaborate picture of how dumb and reckless she is. We have her school results and transcripts too."

"With something so concrete and her absence, none of her mother’s people will want to continue being on her side."

"Once this is all over, the company will no longer be remembered as that dead woman’s."
