Chapter 74: Chapter 74 Serbian Howard’s Offer

The impact of the slap sent Bryan to the floor, knocking out two of his teeth.

Thinking it was Kelsie, he furiously got on his feet again, intending to hit her only to be met with a condescending look from an unfamiliar man.

He paused and wiped off the blood at the corner of his mouth with his sleeve before huffing loudly.

"What? Did you get yourself another random hobo to sleep around with? Goodness, Kelsie. I underestimated your..."

Smack!

Serbian instantly raised his hand and struck him on the face again.

This time, he stumbled backward, falling into the arms of his friends.

He grimaced painfully and supported his dislocated shoulder with his other hand,

Had it been another person, he would’ve rushed up to fight him by now, but taking Serbian’s height and muscular body into consideration, he knew better than to rush up to him knowing who would end up being beaten severely.

Instead, he gritted his teeth and yelled in a trembling, pained voice.

"This... this isn’t over! Whoever you are, I’ll make you pay for hitting me! I won’t rest until i see you behind bars!"

"And Kelsie, don’t think that I’ll let you off for this. I’ll make sure you and your hobo pay severely!"

Then he stormed off with his friends.

What the group didn’t know was that it was at that moment that their livestream officially ended.

By the time they realized and deleted it, hundreds of people had already downloaded a copy of it and many others had screen recorderd and shared to their socials as well.

The security team who had gotten their job done by Serbian bowed to them slightly before leaving while those around made a conversation out of what just happened.

Many of the people wey coming up with theories that favored Bryan, while a considerable number of others were defending Kelsie.

The center of discussion was, however, not paying any attention to them and kept wondering what the man in front of her was doing at the apartment building.

Serbian pretended not to know what her piercing gaze was about and mummed without meeting her eyes, "Ms. Sutton, you seem to be a popular woman."

Kelsie took up her phone. After going through it for a minute, she lowered it and looked up at him again.

"I gave you the benefit of doubt, but I seem to have wasted it."

The man didn’t know when he met her eyes and said in defense, "You must’ve sent your account number to someone else because I never got it."

"I was so grateful after what you did and went to buy a new smartphone as soon as possible. Then I asked around for where you live and came to see you just to take the account number directly from you."

"Furthermore, I even dealt with that sleazebag for you. Shouldn’t you buy me a drink to thank me for my thoughtfulness and selflessness?"

Kelsie was slightly taken aback by this shamelessness.

She narrowed her eyes at him, a little disturbed, "I saved your life in exchange for money, so why does it sound like you’re doing me a favor giving me what I’m owed?"

Serbian froze, realizing she had seen him through.

Left with no choice, he touched the gauze wrapped around his head and winced painfully.

"I was beaten by those thugs for a while and the doctor said I almost had a concussion. I believe I shouldn’t be standing for so long lest I faint."

Upon hearing him, the medical physician in Kelsie wouldn’t let her refuse to buy him a drink.

She pursed her lips and stared at the pained look on his face for several seconds before she turned and led the way without saying another word.

But instead of ordering the hot drink he asked for, she got him a glass of orange juice instead.

He stared at it for several seconds without reaching out to take it.

Kelsie who was about to put in her straw, paused and glanced at him warily.

"That doesn’t look like the expression of someone who’s about to complain I got him orange juice. So what is it? Did I order a drink you’re allergic to?"

The man glanced at her and subtly shook his head in refusal.

"No, I like it. I didn’t remember until now how much I love orange juice."

In truth, this was the first time someone was taking into consideration his condition and ordering him a drink fit for it.

The man who was used to maintaining a poker face forgot to smile when he said that, leading Kelsie to think he didn’t mean it.

She dropped the straw beside her glass and stared him right in the face.

"You say that, but it doesn’t look like you mean it. If you’re not allergic to it and you’re just trying to throw a tantrum, just give up."

"I can let you order another type of fruit juice, but no hot drink for you."

A light smile creased his face hearing her and he raised a questioning brow, "Why? When I tried to get your name earlier, you said you didn’t want to make any friends. Why are you suddenly looking out for me?"

Kelsie leaned back and folded her arms across her chest.

"You have a concussion and you’re yet to send me my money. Why would I let you knock yourself out when you still owe me?"

The corners of his lips curled up into a loop-sided smile as he chuckled softly, "You seem to like money a lot."

"I do."

The man lowered his eyes and tapped his screen for a few times before Kelsie’s phone chimed.

She picked it up to see a nine-figure credit alert glaring at her.

"Nice doing business with you. I wish you a long and happy life now." She flashed him a smile, pushed her seat backward and proceeded to get on her feet, but the man hurriedly did the same.

"I’ll pay that much every year if you accept to be my bodyguard!"

The words slipped out before he could stop himself.
