Behind the stage, Charlotte Hastings had her eyes on the mat the entire time.

When the boxing matches ended, she sat up, hands pressed together as she eagerly waited for the karate match to kick in.

"Facing against him is Tokubashi Akaza!" Hearing the announcer, some parents behind her sucked in a deep breathing.

"He’s big. Why pair him to fight a scrawny kid like Jesse Sutton?"

"That kid hardly does a thing during practice. How is he supposed to fend off such a strong and aggressive opponent?"

"Must be his luck for not training hard enough with the other children."

At a corner, Jett squinted his eyes at the boys mounting the mat.

As the boys got close enough to greet each other, Jesse suddenly sauntered backward and fell on his rear.

Both he and Kelsie vanished from where they were. But when they got to the mat, Charlotte was already on it, eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Jesse on the floor.

"Get that away from me!"

Tokubashi Akaza gently patted the porcupine with a hard frown.

"Gent is my good luck charm. Don’t you dare touch it!"

"G-good-luck charm? It shoots spikes from its body! One wrong move and it’ll feel frightened and shoot one of those into my eyes or worse, my throat!"

"That has never happened with anyone, and Gent is trained. He knows better than to get frightened in such a place!"

The adults stood around, exhaling in relief when they saw it was just a porcupine and not Jesse being attacked.

His reason for screaming really was valid. A porcupine was a danger for the children around. As he said, it could easily be triggered and shoot one of its spikes into a child’s body.

After taking their time to explain it to Tokubashi, he reluctantly let them take it.

"You... I planned to go easy on you, but for making me lose Gent, I will make sure you leave here crying to your mommy!"

The corners of Jesse’s lips twitched as he slowly got to his feet.

Tokubashi’s eyes darkened, and he no longer said anything, but anyone could see he was holding a grudge.

Jett and Kelsie were the most distressed, seeing how riled up Jesse had gotten his opponent.

The kid was already big, and a lot of people were long betting on Jesse losing. Now that Tokubashi was so angry, surely nothing would stop him from winning, right?

Charlotte bit down hard on her lower lip, the urge to ask him what he did nagging hard at her guts.

In the auditorium, Kelsie returned to her seat.

Her eyes hurriedly darted to Daniel and Zade then to the empty seat beside them.

Just to be certain, she questioned Zade, "Where did your sister go?"

"Nanny took her to use the toilet."

Her already racing heart steadied, and she relaxed again, but her mind wouldn’t stop going to them.

Ten minutes later, she got up.

"Mommy is going to check on Nanny and Keira."

Abruptly kicking the door open, the two thugs in the room immediately stopped what they were doing.

The one dunking a woman in a leather jacket quickly let go of her.

When the Nanny raised her head to see Kelsie, she immediately burst into tears.
