Chapter 215: Chapter 215 Ma’am, These Men Took Keira!

Behind the stage, Charlotte Hastings had her eyes on the mat the entire time.

When the boxing matches ended, she sat up, hands pressed together as she eagerly waited for the karate match to kick in.

"Facing against him is Tokubashi Akaza!" Hearing the announcer, some parents behind her sucked in a deep breathing.

"He’s big. Why pair him to fight a scrawny kid like Jesse Sutton?"

"That kid hardly does a thing during practice. How is he supposed to fend off such a strong and aggressive opponent?"

"Must be his luck for not training hard enough with the other children."

"Why do you say so?"

"If he makes it past this match, Jesse Sutton will face off against another opponent way bigger than Tokubashi Akaza."

"That is scary. If either of them progresses with my children, I’ll file a complaint with the school before the fight begins. No way am I letting them have their spines broken so early in their lives."

At a corner, Jett squinted his eyes at the boys mounting the mat.

As the boys got close enough to greet each other, Jesse suddenly sauntered backward and fell on his rear.

"Arghhh!"

Both he and Kelsie vanished from where they were. But when they got to the mat, Charlotte was already on it, eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Jesse on the floor.

"Get that away from me!"

Tokubashi Akaza gently patted the porcupine with a hard frown.

"Gent is my good luck charm. Don’t you dare touch it!"

"G-good-luck charm? It shoots spikes from its body! One wrong move and it’ll feel frightened and shoot one of those into my eyes or worse, my throat!"

"That has never happened with anyone, and Gent is trained. He knows better than to get frightened in such a place!"

"You don’t know that!"

"It’s my pet. Of course I know!"

"You can’t talk for it!"

"I just told you it’s my pet. What do you not understand?"

"Get it away! I don’t want it anywhere near me as we fight!"

"Well, it’s my good luck charm, and I need to pet it for a while!"

The adults stood around, exhaling in relief when they saw it was just a porcupine and not Jesse being attacked.

His reason for screaming really was valid. A porcupine was a danger for the children around. As he said, it could easily be triggered and shoot one of its spikes into a child’s body.

After taking their time to explain it to Tokubashi, he reluctantly let them take it.

Then, cracking his fingers, he glared hard at Jesse.

"You... I planned to go easy on you, but for making me lose Gent, I will make sure you leave here crying to your mommy!"

The corners of Jesse’s lips twitched as he slowly got to his feet.

"Pfft! I refuse to exchange words with someone whose emotional support animal is a porcupine!"

Tokubashi’s eyes darkened, and he no longer said anything, but anyone could see he was holding a grudge.

Jett and Kelsie were the most distressed, seeing how riled up Jesse had gotten his opponent.

The kid was already big, and a lot of people were long betting on Jesse losing. Now that Tokubashi was so angry, surely nothing would stop him from winning, right?

Thud!

"A knockout! 10 points to Jesse Sutton!" The referee’s high-pitched voice glared into everyone’s ears, astounding them.

Jett and Kelsie immediately raised their eyes to watch the replay on the Jumbotron.

Of course. Of course.

Tokubashi was so upset he was attacking Jesse blindly. All he wanted to do was beat up their son, and Jesse was taking advantage of it.

"Two points to Jesse Sutton!" They had just taken their eyes off the screen when the referee yelled out again.

Realizing they were worrying for nothing, they both returned to their seats.

As they did, Charlotte hid away from them.

Once they were out of sight, she rushed to a corner to call the man from earlier.

"It wasn’t a broken spine. Could it be you hired the wrong kid, or the school got it mixed up somehow?"

The man simply laughed.

"Naive, Charlotte. This is why Kelsie doesn’t take you seriously. Jesse Sutton never does anything half-heartedly. Just like his mother, he never joins anything he wouldn’t win."

"And his parents were bound to file a complaint if a kid too big for his age was his opponent, so I did what I had to do."

Charlotte bit down hard on her lower lip, the urge to ask him what he did nagging hard at her guts.

But on second thought, she shook it off. Who cares what he did. She needed to get away from here as soon as possible.

"What about the money you promised me?"

"Go to your classroom. I already kept it on your desk." The man immediately responded.

Without thinking twice, she hurried over to take it.

Just like he said, it was peeking out of the brown envelope it was put in.

Unsuspecting, she rushed in, grabbed the envelope, and made to leave when a polyester bag was put over her head.

The person held it firmly until she passed out, then picked her up and left the room.

In the auditorium, Kelsie returned to her seat.

"Keira, should we get more popcorn?"

"Mhm." Zade mumbled, eyes pinned on the ongoing fight.

"Baby, don’t you want more..." Surprised Keira let Zade beat her to answering, Aurelia turned to ask her daughter again, but quickly trailed off when she found the seat empty.

Her eyes hurriedly darted to Daniel and Zade then to the empty seat beside them.

Just to be certain, she questioned Zade, "Where did your sister go?"

"Nanny took her to use the toilet."

Her already racing heart steadied, and she relaxed again, but her mind wouldn’t stop going to them.

Ten minutes later, she got up.

"Mommy is going to check on Nanny and Keira."

The children had a different restroom. It was a minute farther than the adult female restrooms, so many mothers would have their children stay at theirs. fre.ewebnov el.com

Hence, it didn’t surprise her when she found the place empty.

However, the closer she got to the restroom, the more she narrowed her eyes.

"She’s the only one who saw us. Dunk her faster."

"They didn’t say to kill her. Just knock her out."

"Since you’re failing to do that, just strangle or snap her neck."

"I-I don’t know how to do that. I’ve never done that before."

Hearing such a shady conversation, her heart almost leapt out of her chest and she fastened her footsteps.

Abruptly kicking the door open, the two thugs in the room immediately stopped what they were doing.

The one dunking a woman in a leather jacket quickly let go of her.

When the Nanny raised her head to see Kelsie, she immediately burst into tears.

"Ma’am, these men took Keira!"
