"Excuse me. Sorry. Thank you."

As the place quieted down, everyone’s eyes on the stage, Kelsie whipped her head around hearing a familiar voice getting closer.

Blindly handing Keira the pastries he brought, he stared up at the ring and smiled.

"I’m not late. Thank goodness."

"Man, find somewhere to sit so the rest of us can see." Someone grumbled behind him.

Daniel finally tore his eyes away from the stage to glance around, grimacing slightly when he saw Kelsie’s dark eyes on him.

"Sister-in-law, I almost missed such an important day. How could you not tell me?" Keeping in mind a crowd like this would come for his blood if he spoke too loudly, he bent over to whisper to Kelsie.

Before she could reply, Keira retorted with a mouthful of cake, "You disappeared, Uncle. I almost thought you left the country."

Scratching the back of his head, he smiled softly.

Of course he had to disappear.

Jett hadn’t had time to face him ever since he found out he already of the triplets’ existence. Then there was the thing he helped the Adler family plot where they almost humiliated Kelsie under the watchful eyes of every important person in Silicon Valley.

Recalling that, his eyes settled on Kelsie who had returned her eyes to the ring again.

To think she hadn’t said a word about what happened. She wasn’t even hostile to him right now.

This woman... she was just as scary as Jett. They really did deserve each other

Glancing at the person sitting beside Kelsie, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of cash.

"Hey, take this and find somewhere else to sit."

The person was astounded seeing such amount of money suddenly being pushed into his palm and vacated the seat almost immediately.

Partly because he was worried Daniel would change his mind about the seat.

Carelessly handing out a such an amount in large bills was enough to attract the attention of a few people.

Seeing him take his seat beside Kelsie, the father of the brunette girl turned to look at him.

Then he shifted his eyes to Zade’s face on the Jumbotron, then to Daniel’s again.

He repeated this for several seconds until Daniel couldn’t help feeling creeped out and outrightly said, "I don’t like men."

At this, the man chuckled.

"Of course you don’t, given how you’ve already made such a beautiful child with Ms. Sutton here. Your girl and the boy in the ring, are they twins?"

Daniel was horrified when he realized the man mistook him for Zade and Keira’s father.

"What? No!" He immediately refused, forgetting that wasn’t the question asked.

The man bobbed his head in understanding, quickly assuming Daniel was the shy type.

"Ah, you must be an impatient man, seeing how you had two children almost the same age. The difference between them isn’t a lot, is it? Maybe a year at most?"

Daniel’s face darkened. "The nonsense you’re spouting, stop it this instant!"

He was so shocked by the sudden situation that his face heated up in rage, giving his cheeks a rosy, blushing color, which further misled the man.

"What? Why are you so ashamed of it? Do you think I’d judge you for having children at such a young age?"

"I would never! As a matter of fact, I encourage people to have kids in their twenties. Look at me. I’m forty-five with a seven-year-old. When I’m fifty, my daughter won’t even be a teenager."

"But you and Ms. Sutton will still look as young as ever when your children turn twenty. You may even become grandparents before you’re fifty-five."

Daniel patiently waited for him to finish before forcing out a small smile.

"You’re getting all this wrong. Ms. Sutton and I are not together."

The word ’together’ was muffled as a woman beside him reached out to hit him on the ribs, earning a pained groan.

Then she shushed him without turning to look.

"Keep quiet, both of you. We’re trying to enjoy the boxing, remember?"

Still gripping his ribs, Daniel turned to Kelsie helplessly, only to find her staring at him blankly.

"Help?"

She shrugged and looked away from him.

"The more you refuse, the harder the misconception. Best to wait until they’re actually listening."

She no longer bothered with him and watched the going round with all seriousness.

The entire three minutes, Zade jumped around the ring, blocking every hit from Gerald until he suddenly stopped moving.

The corners of her lips spasmed realizing what he was about to do.

"This is a crucial time. Right about now, someone’s going to get hit with an uppercut."

The words had just rolled off her tongue when Zade executed the move.

"Then a jab to the rib."

This also happened.

"Finally, a strong hook to the right ear with his left hand, which will throw him off balance."

And again, it happened.

"Someone will bend over, overwhelmed by the nonstop hits, and black out because of the blow to the head."

A moment later, Gerald stumbled backward, bent over, then dropped to his knees and fell face-first.

The place went silent.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, feeling the little boy’s temperature just to be sure he was only overwhelmed by the fight.

Realizing he was fine, they stepped back, and the commentators’ eager voices boomed through the speakers.

"Gerald Hoffman, the bear has fallen! Now it’s a race between him and time."

"Will the bear get up in time to continue the round, or will Zade Sutton win the fight and grand prize by knockout?"

At the same time, the referee rushed into the ring again.

Kneeling beside Gerald, he repeatedly slammed his hand on the mat as he began counting backwards...

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6..."

"Gerald Hoffman! What the fuck are you doing on the ground? Get on your darn feet and finish that scrawny punk!" Gary Hoffman shot out of his seat and yelled through clenched teeth.

Kelsie grinned and leaned forward, supporting her head with her palm as the referee continued his count.

"...5, 4, 3, 2, 1! Ladies and gentlemen, we welcome this year’s champion, Zade Sutton!"

Before the crowd erupted in applause, Kelsie cackled proudly.

"Sorry about your bear getting upended by my scrawny boy, Mr. Hoffman."

Her loud and clear voice made the man seethe in rage.

Without waiting to see his son receive the award for first runner-up, he turned and stormed out.

The results of this fight was clear in everyone’s eyes and still very fresh in their minds.

Unlike the first round, they could no longer claim it was pure luck on Zade’s side and turned to Kelsie suspiciously.

"You pretty much predicted the fight. How did you know he was going to do all that?"

"It seems you also trained your son vigorously at home. No need to act like you hadn’t."

Kelsie scratched her brow gently.

"Maybe I knew he was going to do that because I usually do it."

Subconsciously, their eyes roamed over her, large question marks appearing over their head.

But recalling the kid they had underestimated all these while because of how little he was took out the formidable opponent they were all rooting for, they didn’t dare disbelieve her because of her lanky frame.

"Mommy, Mommy, look how heavy it is!" It was at this moment that Zade’s impatient groan filled the air as he came running with his trophy.

The eyes of several parents bulged with envy as they watched Kelsie take it.

Turning it over, she hummed.

"It’s supposed to be pure gold. Did you sprain a muscle bringing it over here?"

Zade, who was being helped over the talking barrier by Daniel, shook his head.

"Looking at him so close up... he’s even smaller than I imagined." The mother of the blonde girl was in awe staring at him.

Daniel folded both arms across his chest, unable to resist the urge to brag as he laughed curtly, "It’s my family’s genes. My brother and I were also tiny growing up."

"But the moment we hit thirteen, we had an intense growth spurt. Now we’re taller than every male in our family."

"And you’re how ta..." The question coming from the back died in the person’s throat as the host proceeded to kick-start the last event for the day.

"Finally, we’ve gotten to the last sport of the day: karate. We’ll now open the floor with a kid who shares the same last name as our boxing champion, Zade Sutton. And facing him is Tokubashi Akaza."

All of a sudden, Kelsie’s heart palpitated and she suddenly sat up, her eyes narrowing at Tokubashi Akaza, who was the same height as Jesse, walking out from the other end of the mat.

She wasn’t the least worried when Zade faced off against a huge kid like Gerald Hoffman. So why was she...

"Arghhh!"
