Chapter 209: Chapter 209 What Do You Know About Lois Fletcher
Haven Medical Center
Kelvin Reynolds was in a virtual meeting with some investors when the door to his office was suddenly kicked open.
Standing in the doorway was a grim-faced Jett.
Kelvin’s assistant had seen him a few times and committed what he looked like to memory.
So even though her boss’ privacy was being violated, she didn’t dare to do anything about it and just stood behind Jett, her face lowered to the floor apologetically.
Stepping into the room, Jett didn’t beat about the bush and outrightly asked, "I can’t access everything on the hospital’s database, why?"
A nervous glint flashed past Kelvin’s eyes before he beckoned onto his assistant, "Close the door behind Mr. Adler, would you?"
She promptly did as told, giving the men their privacy.
Once they were alone, Kelvin inhaled sharply, leaning toward his desk with a broad smile.
"I’m glad you’re here. It’s been a long time we shared a drink..."
Jett impatiently interrupted him, "Don’t make me repeat myself."
Kelvin stared at him blankly.
So this was it.
Since she couldn’t find her way into the database, she invoked her boyfriend.
Hah! He never would’ve thought she’d make such a bold move.
Thankfully, Calvin brought it up as a possibility when Kelsie quit the hospital and he acted on it immediately.
Jett’s eyes clouded over as Kelvin went mum.
"Are you daft now?"
Kelvin quickly shook his head.
"Mr. Adler, forgive me, but I find it safer when some informations are kept private. If you don’t mind me asking, what is it you’re looking for?"
Jett’s lips tugged into a disbelieving smile.
So it was just like he suspected.
Lois Fletcher was one of the many foul plays of the hospital.
Clenching his fist, he turned and headed toward the wine cabinet.
Kelvin creased his brows in confusion.
However, recalling Jett was unpredictable, he didn’t think too much about it and watched him shuffle through the different wines.
"You like that one? I don’t think it’s good enough for you. Why don’t I ask my assistant to bring us something older and better from my house?"
Jett didn’t retort.
Taking that as a yes, Kelvin reached for his telephone.
Just as he dialed his assistant, Jett spurned around, strutting toward him with a sturdy bottle of wine.
"Oh, there’s that. I completely forgot I had something like that here. Why don’t you have any glass with you though?"
"We don’t need them."
"I didn’t know that’s how you enjoyed your wine, but I’m afraid I don’t quite enjoy mine if I drink directly from the bottle."
"Who said anything about drinking it?"
"What do you..."
Smash!
Kelvin flinched, rolling back on his chair when Jett suddenly smashed the bottle against the sharp end of his desk.
Just when he was trying to understand what was going on, Jett grabbed him by the collar, pulled him forward and placed the sharp end of the glass on his jugular.
"Do I have to stab you with this to get access or would you rather give me access without any of this?"
At this, Kelvin’s eyes dimmed, the corner of his lips curling into a bitter smile.
"I don’t care what you’re doing with Kelsie Sutton, but if you think giving her her mother’s medical record is the best move, think again."
"That file as little and unnecessary as it is will end the good reputation of Haven Medical Center. Remember how hard we all worked to get here."
Jett naturally fell silent.
Indeed, Haven Medical Center was an extension of Adler Group. Its medical sector and it made the most money after their technology company.
Something happening to it was like a helicopter losing a rotator blade.
Seeing Jett go silent, Kelvin exhaled in relief, glad that he was getting through to him and continued speaking gently.
"Kelsie Sutton doesn’t need to see her mother’s medical records. No one has to. That is until the statute of limitations expires. You just have to turn a blind eye to it."
The words had just rolled off his tongue when Jett tightened his grip on his collar, moving the bottle closer to his neck with a straight face.
"Three seconds... that’s how long you have before this goes in your jugular."
Kelvin clenched his jaw tightly, "You’re making a big mistake."
Jett said nothing and simply stepped backward to give him space.
Kelvin typed on his computer for a while before he turned it to Jett.
The man took his seat and transferred the bottle to his left hand, his right fingers flying across the keys as he typed ’Lois Fletcher’.
Across him, Kelvin watched his subtle, yet unstable expression to the things he read.
Five minutes later, Jett paused and raised his eyes to meet Kelvin’s.
"She doesn’t know of this?"
"I made sure."
Nodding in understanding, Jett slowly reached for the phone vibrating in his pocket.
Seeing ’My Charming Darling’ sprawled across his screen, he stared at it stoically until the call ended.
She called again and just like the first time, he watched it ring without making any move to answer
But the moment a voicemail from her dropped, he played it.
"Hi, it’s me. I know you’re busy and I don’t know why I’m calling just to tell you this, but I just found the perfect place for my practice. If you want to see what it looks like, I’ll take you there when you’re less busy. Bye now. Call me when you’re less busy?"
"It’s not too late to do something about her..." Kelvin was saying, but trailed off when Jett lifted the bottle to eye level, his gaze shifting to Kelvin as he sucked in a deep breath.
"Say, if I stab you with this, do you think you’ll make it to the operating room downstairs in time?"
Kelvin pursed his lips and didn’t dare to say another word.
That day, Kelsie was busy getting the practice in order.
On her way to the apartment, she called the nanny to tell her not to prepare dinner as they’d be having pizza instead.
It was a week to the martial arts tournament and the kids were made to practice at school three to four times a week.
Today happened to be one out of those days. Hence, they were just as tired as their mother and fell asleep with her.
Jett returned late at night.
Trying as noiselessly as possible to get into the room, a bright smile seeped into his hard features when he saw the triplets sharing the bed with their mother.
No, they were sharing the same space with her. Out of the many space on the king-sized bed, they chose to huddle next to her.
Realizing someone else was in the room with them, Aurelia stirred.
Noticing this, he called out to her softly, "Hey, it’s me."
Hearing his voice, her tense body relaxed and she flashed him a tired smile.
"I didn’t think you’d be coming."
"Busy day at the office. I kept forgetting to..." He stopped talking and chuckled hearing her soft snoring.
The week went by very quickly with both of them being busy with work.
Finally, the renovation and decoration for the practice was done.
It was also the same week of Aventis Academy’s martial arts tournament.
As she closed the practice that afternoon, she turned to see a surprising face.
"Molly?"
Molly flashed her a small smile.
"I’m sorry for coming here. It’s just... you wouldn’t return any of my calls, so I went to your house and somehow found out you started a practice here."
Kelsie thinned her lips, smiling apologetically as she walked down with her.
"I’m so sorry, I haven’t checked my phone in days. And how do you know where I live?"
"You were a doctor at Haven Medical Center?"
"Oh, right."
"They wouldn’t tell me though, so I accessed your information when no one was looking."
"Through the database? Won’t that get you in trouble?"
Molly grimaced, reached into her pocket for her phone and showed her an email with the headline ’Letter Of Immediate Termination’.
"I didn’t see it earlier, but it came in the same hour I accessed your information."
Kelsie chuckled and felt the back of her neck, "Well, since I’m just starting out, I pay way lower than Haven Medical Center, but if you..."
Molly’s eyes lit up the second she heard ’pay’.
"I want! It’s you. So I know it’s only a matter of time before your practice becomes a huge success."
Kelsie couldn’t stop the bright smile easing into her face as she took out her phone.
"Alright, then. You’re officially my first employee. Though you’ve been hired, I’ll have my lawyer draft up an official contract for you."
Molly was over the moon and wouldn’t stop thanking her.
After she left, Kelsie drove to the apartment building to get ready for the tournament.
When she came out of her room, the nanny was already waiting in the living room, all dressed up.
Taking in the leather jacket and matte pant on her, Kelsie flashed her a thumb.
"You changed your style. I love it."
The elderly woman beamed and followed her out of the house.
"Well, Keira said I dress like an old woman."
Kelsie’s lips spasmed, "She has quite a mouth on her, doesn’t she?"
As the duo left in the Porsche, a hooded figure strolled out of the garage and into the apartment building.
Heading into the elevator with the rest of the people, he waited for the last person to alight before inputting floor 49.
