Chapter 208: Chapter 208 The Triplets’ Fate

His face was only on for a second before the television went dark, prompting everyone to turn their heads toward a seething Kelsie.

Boyce slipped both hands into his pocket and hissed, "We already saw two of your children, what difference does it make to turn it off now?"

Kelsie’s grip on the control tightened, raising her eyes to glower at him.

"You unlocked my phone?"

"The nerves of this wench to ask me such a stupid question." Boyce couldn’t believe her brazenness and stepped toward her.

Poking her on the shoulder, he sneered, "You sure are thick-skinned. You must’ve said many thick-skinned things to my cousin given how such a bright man like him suddenly accepted you and your bastards..."

He suddenly trailed off and stepped to the side when he spotted something flying toward him.

The champagne bottle whizzed past his head, missing him and shattering against the television.

"Touch her again and I’ll break your fingers!" Jett’a cold words reached everyone’s ears almost immediately.

Although shaken, Boyce gritted his teeth and held onto the person next to him for support.

"I don’t know what this woman said to brainwash you into thinking being with her is normal, but I’m telling you now to be grateful for this timely intervention!"

"Look at her. She’s so young, yet has three children and her family practically jumped at the thought of being in-laws with us."

"Do you still not know what she is? She fits the stereotype of those women after you for your money."

Kelsie suddenly chuckled, "What? Stereotype? Do you have no idea the only reason someone like you is speaking to me is because you’re from the Adler family?"

"Even with your family behind you, if you pull a stunt like this ever again, rest assured we’d end up in a lawsuit. And believe it or not, I won’t be the one losing."

And rhat was it.

She tossed the controller behind her, grabbed her purse and jacket before storming out of the house.

Ten seconds later, the guests and those of the Adler family were still quiet, both finding it hard to believe someone had just threatened them with a lawsuit and actually stormed out.

And Jack Adler was yet to say a word. It was too disbelieving a sight.

The Sutton family huddled to a cornerr, their eyes darting around in confusion.

Not confusion over what just happened, but if what just happened meant the end of the relationship or not.

Thirty seconds later, Jerry couldn’t contain the silence any longer and warily walked up to Jett, "Excuse me, Mr. Adler. Will you be dumping my daughter?"

Jett stared down at him blankly.

"Do you have no shame calling her your daughter?"

Jerry’s cheeks heated up in embarrassment recalling what he had gone through in the hands of this man.

But the next second, he cleared his throat and dramatically waved his hand in the air.

"Don’t be like that, Mr. Adler. Our Sutton family may have been in a lawsuit with you for three months, but that doesn’t mean we won’t make great in-laws."

"Now, I understand if my first daughter doesn’t fit your family’s profile. It’s off-putting to have a daughter-in-law with three bastard children, after all."

"But before you decide to cut off our Sutton family entirely, don’t forget she’s not the only daughter I have."

Jett’s lips twitched in disbelief.

"Mr. Sutton, are you offering me your second daughter as a wife?"

Jerry first laughed before he shook his head, "When you put it like that, it sounds wrong. It’s something like, where my first daughter lacks, my second daughter makes-up in."

He paused and beckoned onto Laura who eagerly went to him.

Holding her hand as she spurned around, Jerry smacked his lips approvingly.

"She may be a few inches shorter, but she possesses everything else my first daughter doesn’t."

"For one thing, she doesn’t have a child. She hasn’t even been in more than one relationship."

"She has manners and knows better than to talk back to people socially above her. What do you think? Doesn’t she just make you want to take her as your wife as soon as you can?"

Jett pressed his lips into a thin line, finally realizing why Kelsie had chosen not to say a word earlier.

His grandchildren were just called bastards by Boyce, but he didn’t care about that one bit and was only focused on becoming in-laws with them.

For someone who hardly got riled up, he feared if he parted his lips to say anything, he’d end up cussing out Jerry.

"Laura, turn your face to the side so Mr. Adler can see your side profile looks a little bit like your sister’s." Deborah hurriedly butted in from where she stood.

Laura promptly did as told, earning a bright smile from her mother who turned to Jett.

"An obedient wife is the kind of wife a man like you should go for. Not a disobedient little brat like my first daughter."

Jett was even more repulsed.

These people... they truly had no shame.

Badmouthing one daughter while showering praises on the other.

It would’ve at least been a good thing for Laura if they weren’t showering the praises on her just so she could marry into a powerful family.

To make it worse, they were doing this under the watchful eyes of hundreds of guests.

Disgusted, he didn’t bother with them anymore and turned to face the guests, addressing them with a straight face.

"We’re not breaking up. Kelsie Sutton and I are not breaking up. And to leave this house, my assistant will have you sign an NDA form."

"To be crystal clear, none of you will be talking about what happened tonight. Not about my relationship with Ms. Sutton, her children or the shameless little display the Sutton family performed just now."

He paused, walked to the table Kelsie had dropped her gift and walked back to Jack. fre(e)webnove.l.c.om

Without looking him in the eyes, he dropped the gift on his thigh and straightened up.

"Happy birthday, grandfather."

It went without saying Boyce would only dare to do such a thing on his birthday because he was in on it. And for that, Jett was trying his best not to crash out.

He bowed to Jack three times before he turned, strutting out of the house in quick and long strides.

He hopped into his car, swiped through the surveillance footage for Kelsie.

Sure enough, her car was the only one speeding through the roads as she drove out of the vicinity.

Driving out, he placed a call to security, "This is Jett Adler. Lock the gates and don’t open them until I say so."

"Yes, sir."

Five minutes later, he got to the first gate and found her car parked in front of it, the door ajar and her jacket draped around it.

Standing in front of the gate, she repeatedly slammed a huge rock against the gate.

Seeing him alight from the car, she paused and scoffed, "Now it makes perfect sense why no one’s answering."

Lingering by his car, Jett gently scratched his brow, "You’re not angry enough to throw that rock at me, right?"

She huffed and began walking back to her car, "I don’t have the last name Adler, why would i do something so impulsive?"

"Duly deserved."

Exhaling, she threw the rock away and observed the scenery around her.

With her eyes still pinned to the flowerbeds, she sighed, "It’s not that I don’t want your family to know my children are yours."

He walked to stand behind her, wrapping his arms around her in a firm embrace.

"I’m relieved to know that. For a moment, I thought you’re ashamed to tell people I’m their father."

She chuckled and raised her eyes to stare into his face.

"Growing up, my mother was an intelligent genius. At the age of one, she realized I was one too. Would you believe I still have memeories from when I was a baby?"

Planting kisses on her temple, the man pursed his lips, "You know, I’m one too, but I have a feeling I fall way behind you."

"Don’t flatter me."

"Really?"

"Of course not! Go on, flatter me more."

He chuckled and embraced her tighter, placing his chin on the nape of her neck.

Caressing both his hands, she returned her eyes to the flowerbeds again.

"I remember I was always in her office. She’d have me on her thigh as she flipped through dozens of medical books."

"Given that I saw that most of the time and that she always read them out loud, I couldn’t help assimilating those informations."

"All three of our children are like that. Keira is lazy, so she refuses to do anything she doesn’t like."

"Zade is fascinated by nature and the human life. Jesse, he loves complex things. The harder and complicated a task, the more excited he becomes."

"Now, I let them do whatever they want, but if they finally become members of the Adler family, I have the feeling much will be expected from them. I don’t want that to be their life."

"I want them to have normal childhoods. Not live their lives being the genius children of Jett Adler."

"And the amazing Dr. Kelsie Sutton." Jett raised his head to chip in.

She shrugged.

"I know it can’t be helped, but I really wanted them to spend their childhoods being children and doing whatever they want until they decide if they want to be known geniuses to the world."

"Sometimes, I really don’t know whether to thank Lois Fletchers’ amazing genes or curse it."

Jett was about to chuckle when he suddenly paused, "Lois Fletcher?"

She nodded, "Mhm. My mother. She’s dead."

Behind her, Jett stiffened, his pupils dilating as a flicker of fear, guilt, and anger surged through him all at once.
