Chapter 207: Chapter 207 The Video From Kelsie’s Phone
All of a sudden, one of the guests slowly began applauding.
"That is amazing news, Mr. Adler. When I heard you were looking to marry out this grandson of yours, I didn’t think the rumors were true at all."
"I am so happy for you. Big congratulations, sir!"
The other guests were dumbfounded for a while before they gradually followed him in applauding, chipping in after him.
"Silicone Valley’s most eligible bachelor is off the market? I didn’t think I’d see that happen anytime soon."
"She caught my eyes the moment she walked in and I was considering asking her out. You got a good one, Mr. Adler."
"This makes me both hapy and sad. Happy that he’s finally going to settle down and sad that it couldn’t be with me."
Weird glances were thrown to the now sobbing woman in their midst as they feigned disgust. But inwardly, many of them felt even worse.
Their envy towards Kelsie skyrocketed.
Not only did she have such a nice body, but she was also marrying into the Adler family and not just to any member of the family, it was Jett Adler himself.
What exactly did she do in her past life to be so lucky in this one?
Ignoring the envious looks being thrown her way, Kelsie turned to Jett worriedly, both too surprised to react to either of the praises.
On the other side, Craig and Boyce joined in applauding them, flashing a warm smile at the well-wishers.
Though they hadn’t planned for this misconception, they were elated about it.
There was nothing as fulfilling as dragging down someone at the top.
In front of them, Jack watched the guests with a small smile.
He waited until the applause died down before gesturing to a member of the Adler family, who was the party’s sound engineer.
But just as he moved to his computer, a small commotion began from behind the crowd.
"Let me through. I’m the father of the bride!"
"And I’m her mother!"
"She’s my big sister!"
The trio successfully squeezed their way to the front.
Confirming it was really Kelsie standing beside Jett, Jerry Sutton straightened up, his shoulders high up in the air as he tried to arrange his tie properly.
Then he walked toward Jack. free we\bnove(l).com
Standing a few inches away, he stretched his hand toward him for a handshake, a wide smile plastered across his face.
"Mr. Adler, I’m Jerry Sutton, Kelsie Sutton’s father and as it seems, your in-law in the coming few weeks. It’s an honor to meet you."
Jack stared him down coldly.
Kelsie couldn’t believe her eyes and the rest of the Adler family were astounded by this brazen action.
Jerry’s hand was outstretched for several seconds before he awkwardly retracted it and straightened up again.
A minute ago, he would never dare to act like this, but after hearing Kelsie was involved with Jett, his confidence shot through the roof and his shoulders were on the verge of turning to wings.
At first, he didn’t take the relationship between Jett and Kelsie seriously when he heard of it, but after hearing Jack announce it to the entire world, he couldn’t help staring at Kelsie proudly.
"Kelsie, why didn’t you tell me you were serious about Jett Adler? If you had told your father you’d be telling the whole world of your relationship today, I would’ve made it a priority to come with a better gift!"
Jack’s eyes immediately clouded over.
"You’re Dr. Sutton’s father?"
"It’s a little hard to believe because she takes after her mother, but she’s definitely my daughter!" Jerry nodded, laughing curtly as he finished.
Jack quilted, "How long have you known they were dating?"
Holding up his fingers, Jerry sucked in a deep breath, "Let me see. I think it’s been a month. Maybe two."
"But I knew of them when your grandson introduced himself to me on the day of my younger daughter’s birthday."
Laura took this as her cue to step into the conversation.
Lowering her eyes, she said in a servile voice, "I’m Laura Sutton, Kelsie’s little sister. Don’t hold it against sister for keeping her relationship a secret from you."
"Though she’s secretive about a lot of things, she probably didn’t mention it as it was in her best interest not to."
Her voice was so soft and fragile everyone took her words for it.
And to think she was smiling at Kelsie the entire time, but the woman hadn’t returned the smile at all convinced them even more.
Seeing her daughter being ignored, Deborah couldn’t take it any longer and hissed, "Why do you look like that, Kelsie? Are you that offended to see your family?"
Laura took a step backward and held her her mother’s arm. Then she bit down on her lower lip with a sigh.
"Mother, don’t bring that up. Kelsie may be prone to anger and extremely impulsive, but she’s really a good person."
After being called out like this, the person in question would naturally feel ashamed.
Maybe smile and lower their head, then smile and walk toward her family whilst defending herself.
But to everyone’s surprise, Kelsie kept a rather straight face.
The truth? She was finding the situation rather amusing.
At the same time, she feared if she parted her lips to say anything, her brain would shut down and she’d get into a verbal altercation with them.
The last time she condescended to their level, she totally ruined Laura’s birthday party. And the last thing she wanted was do the same to Jett grandfather’s.
With that, she clenched her jaw tightly and threw her face to the side.
Jett wanted to say something as well, but he couldn’t decide on what to say.
Kelsie wasn’t saying anything and he didn’t know if to tell everyone the truth about them which would include revealing that they had three children.
When he saw she wasn’t saying anything, he naturally went silent.
No one noticed his dilemma as Jerry suddenly flared up at being ignored.
"That is no way no treat your father, Kelsie! If you knew this was going to happen, you should’ve at least told me beforehand!"
Deborah couldn’t be bothered with her any longer and apologetically lowered her head to Jack.
"Forgive our daughter. She’s still so young and foolish. I promise to teach her how to be a better wife to your grandson before the wedding."
Jack watched them quietly.
He was a sensitive man. Despite his constant illness, he had done business for decades before retiring.
A man like him could spot hypocrites several miles away, how much more when they were standing right in front of him.
Recalling how Craig and Boyce had planned to disgrace her, he shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
Clearly, she was raised by two hypocrites, it was no surprise she had children out of wedlock.
Though she wasn’t the kind of woman he wanted for his grandson, he changed his mind about disgracing her and beckoned onto Boyce.
However, Boyce was rather giddy.
They had planned and gone over everything in detail an hour ago. Hence, he couldn’t possibly think of anything else his grandfather would want to whisper in his ears besides share what they had procured from Kelsie’s phone.
So, he only smiled when he saw Jack turn toward him and directly strutted to meet the sound engineer.
He picked up the television remote and pointed it at Kelsie, snorting, "Hmph! Your entire family are just a bunch of leeches!"
"The Adlers are the wealthiest family in the country and we have all life could possibly offer."
"So I’m really curious to know what exactly made you think our Adler family would accept a woman like you?"
For some reason, Kelsie glanced at her cellphone.
The powder earlier...
Jett frowned slightly when she moved her phone to her nose to smell it.
Her eyes bulged in realization and she abruptly lunged herself forward.
However...
"Gorgeous. Handsome. Pretty. Stunning. I’ve heard kids at school say hot, so I guess they’re hot too."
"Mommy is the most beautiful woman in the whole wide world and daddy is the most handsome. Oh, what am I doing?
"Silly me. I didn’t realize I was recording myself the entire time. Tada! There’s my mommy and daddy preparing to go to a party. What party was it again, Zade?"
The camera shifted from the face of a pretty little girl to that of a boy the same age who stood in the middle of the room ogling Jett and Kelsie.
Many glanced at the duo, confirming it they had on the same outfit from the video.
Zade first performed a silly dance before blew kisses to Jett and Kelsie.
"Everyone, welcome our parents, the undeniable star of the night into whatever party it is their going to."
Keira cackled behind the camera hearing him.
She recorded Kelsie and Jett for a moment before she turned the camera away from them, her tiny voice suddenly adding pitch as she called out, "Jesse? Where are, Jesse?"
The camera soon pointed to the floor as she walked around looking for him.
Then she pushed open a door and exhaled heavily in relief when she saw him watching television in their room.
"Here you are. Mommy and daddy will be leaving for their party soon, won’t you come see what they look like?"
For a long moment, the boy remained still. Then, slowly, he turned his face toward the camera.
