Oops, Mommy Slept With A Tyrant -
Chapter 205 Jack Adler’s Birthday Celebration
Chapter 205: Chapter 205 Jack Adler’s Birthday Celebration
Jack Adler’s birthday conveniently fell on a Saturday, which meant no school for the triplets and no waking up early for Kelsie.
That morning, Jett made and served the household breakfast before they went about their day.
Zade had a mini-lab set-up in the living room while Keira perched on the sofa beside him playing a video game, lashing and yelling at her teammates.
Jesse was the only one who didn’t have anything doing.
Whenever the nanny came out for something, his eyes would light up thinking it was his mother only to fall when he saw it was just their nanny.
An hour later, he couldn’t take it any longer and got on his feet.
He contemplated knocking on Kelsie’s door, but decided against it as he felt she might still be sleeping.
Hence, he strolled toward his brother.
"How am I the only one who’s bothered?"
Zade didn’t look up, but his brows knitted in confusion.
"Bothered about what?"
"That man has been in our house for almost a week."
"Don’t exaggerate. He has only spent 20 hours everyday in our house for the past one week."
"Isn’t that the same thing? Don’t answer that. Then what about how mommy has barely left her room in the past one week? Sure, she tucks us in, has lunch and dinner with us, but we barely see her during the day."
"What do you mean she hasn’t left her room in the past one week? She goes outside to jog every night."
At this, Jesse sucked in a deep breath, an overwhelming urge to hit his brother surging through him.
Zade heard his heavy breathing and finally looked away from what he was doing.
"What is that look for? I’ve seen people at school have that look. By any chance, are you contemplating whether to hit me?"
"I am." Jesse nodded and leaned forward to hit Zade when the door to Kelsie’s room opened.
Zade squeezed his eyes shut, bracing himself for a painful slap on the head. However, all he felt was a light pat on the cheek.
No, a playful one.
Frowning, he first peeled an eye open just in time to see Jesse glance toward Kelsie’s room, all smiles, "Mommy, you’re finally..."
"That’s daddy." Zade muttered in a small voice.
Jesse huffed, "Oh, you see that too? What a surprise! I also see that too. You know why? Because I also have eyes."
Zade was perplexed.
However, his tongue was peeled to the roof of his mouth as he knew better than to talk back when his brother was in such mood.
"My goodness, why are you so infuriated? You’re not even a teenager yet!" As much as he wanted to yell that out loud, it only came out as a whisper before he returned to what he was doing.
Jesse first stopped by the couch and picked up a printed paper before waltzing toward Jett.
"I don’t like you."
Jett hid his smile and scratched the back of his head, feigning surprise, "Really? But I’m so loveable and you’re literally my clone. Shouldn’t that make you love me more?"
Staring into the face he saw in the mirror every morning and whenever he came out of his room, Jesse couldn’t help averting his gaze.
Jett had been around for an entire week cooking and looking after them and he was starting to get used to it.
But while that was true, his mother had become quite stressed for some reason. He refused to condone that even if this man helped out around the house.
Huffing, he pressed the paper against Jett, threatening through clenched teeth, "If you don’t do what’s on this list, I’m going to have mommy throw you out soon!"
Then he stomped off in a feat of rage hoping Jett would know he was being serious.
However, all the man saw was his adorable boy leaving after finally making an effort to speak to him.
Taking the drink he came for from the fridge, held up the paper and began reading the list of rules on it.
When he got back to her room, Kelsie was nestled in her bed wearing a black tank top and grey sweatpant, her laptop on her thighs.
She briefly paused to look at him and sighted the piece of paper.
"I didn’t know you went up to your apartment."
He handed her the drink before turning to the back of the paper, his brows creasing in confusion.
"Jesse gave this to me. It’s supposed to contain rules and regulations if I don’t wish to be thrown out by you, but all I see is the same capitalized and highlighted sentence on all five numbers."
"I’ve seen how good he is with his computer, how could he make such a mistake not once, but five time?"
Kelsie thinned her lips.
"It wasn’t a mistake. What does it say?"
"Let mommy sleep. That’s it."
She chuckled.
"Oh, good times. I could sleep through anything, now I stir awake whenever I feel your hand on my thigh, but that’s okay, it only means my medication’s working."
Hearing medication, his mind flashed back to his findings about her, but seeing how she didn’t say anything else, he grimaced and sat on the bed.
"So he’s upset with me because you don’t sleep?"
"Well, if my brain serves me right, I’m a heavy sleeper and my..." Kelsie was saying, but trailed off when the screen of her phone lit up, an unknown number sprawled across it.
Thinking it was the real estate agent Callum had told her about, she didn’t hesitate to answer.
However...
"Ms. Sutton? It’s me Daniel Adler."
Because she was on her laptop and couldn’t afford to press the phone against her ear, she put it on speaker.
Upon hearing his brother’s voice, Jett glanced at Kelsie in surprise.
She stared back at him in confusion. fr\eewebno vel .c(o)m
"Hello, Ms. Sutton, you’re still there, aren’t you?" Daniel’s voice came up again when he didn’t hear anything.
From the look in his eyes, Kelsie could tell Jett didn’t know why Daniel was calling. So she turned her eyes away and hummed.
"Yes, of course. I don’t have your number saved, Mr. Adler."
Daniel laughed curtly.
"Yeah, me too. My grandfather gave it to me. He’s napping now, so he asked me to remind you of his birthday celebration this evening."
"Though you no longer work at Haven Medical Center and as such, are no longer his doctor, it’d mean a lot to him if you came."
Kelsie glanced at the time.
In truth, she had truly forgotten.
And to think Jett hadn’t breathed a word about it the entire week.
"Yes, of course. I was going to come. When should I be at your Adler residence, again?"
"Six this evening. But the celebration will last way into the night. Up until tomorrow morning."
"Alright, sure. Thank you for calling to remind me."
"That’s no problem."
As soon as the call ended, she leered at Jett who immediately began explaining.
"In my defense, I was going to take you as my date."
Kelsie scoffed and got on her feet, strutting to her wardrobe in long strides.
"You think I would’ve gone to the birthday celebration of your grandfather on such short notice?"
Jett got up followed after her.
"Well, forgive me, but I didn’t plan to tell you that’s where we would going. Now that I think of it, I should’ve known he’d invite you."
Kelsie, was however, too busy flicking through the numerous dresses in her closet.
"I didn’t remember, so I didn’t get your grandfather any birthday gift."
A cunning smile instantly spread across Jett’s face as he inches closer to her.
"You don’t have to. He’s been singing your praises for months, I’m sure he won’t mind if you don’t bring him anything."
Kelsie was silent for a moment before she stuck out her head to look at him, lifting her questioningly, "Did you say anything?"
The man immediately shook his head.
"What? No! But talking of birthday gifts. He has quite a number of things and will treat your gift like the rest of the gifts he’ll be receiving. Lucky for you, I know of a better gift that’d make his day."
Kelsie naturally paused what she was doing to turn to him again.
"What is that?"
"Remember the safe deposit box opposite the court house?"
Kelsie blinked in confusion, wondering why he was suddenly referencing a safe box. When it dawned on her, she glared hard at him.
"No, Jett! We’re not giving your grandfather a marriage certificate we haven’t filed yet."
"Hear me out. The celebration isn’t until 6pm. We still have seven hours to file our marriage."
"Stop talking nonsense and help me pick out a dress. I don’t want to wear a gown or something casual. Just go through the wardrobe and find me something normal."
"Of course you’d shoot down my proposal for a marriage. Could it be because I don’t have a ring yet?"
"Hurry up. I also need your help picking out an appropriate gift for your grandfather."
"I bought you a dress."
"I just told you I don’t want to be in one."
"Right."
Six hours later, after bickering with Jett over not driving in the same car with him, Jett begrudgingly kissed his children goodbye and agreed to leave.
Kelsie waited a few minutes before following suit.
Like she had heard, the Adler family’s residence wasn’t just a building, it was a mini-county.
She drove through three huge and gigantic gates, passed through what seemed to be a highway until she saw a castle up ahead with a water fountain in front of it.
The closer she got to it, the bigger the fountain and castle became.
Upstairs, the entire family watched on the surveillance feed as she came to a stop in front of the building.
Craig turned to Boyce.
"Call one of the valets and ask him to take her phone and jacket. Once we swipe it for pictures of her children, we’ll be able to disgrace her properly."
