Oops, Mommy Slept With A Tyrant -
Chapter 204 The Adler Family’s Plan
Chapter 204: Chapter 204 The Adler Family’s Plan
That afternoon, Kelsie picked the triplets from school after futile day of searching for a good building for her practice.
"Mhm, smells yummy. Nana must’ve learnt a new recipe." Zade smacked his lips hungrily as they stepped into their apartment.
Seeing his siblings carelessly throw their bags onto the couch before running toward the kitchen, Jesse frowned and called out to them, "Shouldn’t we have our baths first?"
Pausing, Zade and Keira blinked, quickly realizing their carelessness.
Walking to pick it up, Keira waited until Kelsie was in before going to hug her tightly by the leg.
Kelsie was slightly taken aback before she recalled this was her daughter’s way of asking for something.
Tiredly pressing a finger against her temple, she raised a questioning brow, "What? Did you do something silly like taking your cellphone to school and a teacher ended up seeing you with it?"
Keira giggled in reply and shook her head.
Kelsie returned her smile, "Oh? That’s a relief."
Keira released her grip on her leg and stepping backward, sniffing the air.
"Don’t you smell anything, mommy?"
Kelsie raised her eyes to look around.
Her face fell in disappointment when she realized the couch empty, the duvet from this morning, neatly folded and placed on it.
After a while, she tore her eyes away and lowered it to Keira. "I do smell something nice and delicious. Nana must be making something new."
Zade grinned, chiming in at this moment, "We can bathe after eating, right?"
"Of course." The words had just fallen when they both sped into the kitchen.
A moment later, Kelsie heard a very confusing conversation between them.
"You have very nice biceps."
"You must workout a lot."
"I want to look as buffy as you when I’m older."
"Don’t be ridiculous. You’re a female."
"That means I can’t have muscles?"
"Do you want to or you like looking at it?"
"I like looking at it."
"Then when I’m older, I’ll have the same muscles for you to look at."
"Really? What a sweet brother you are."
Kelsie and Jesse exchanged puzzled looks.
The nanny was an elderly woman with no muscles. Whoever was in that kitchen had to be an intruder.
Arriving at the same conclusion with his mother, Jesse hurried to hide behind her.
"So, what is it you’re making? It smells really nice." Keira’s voice came up again.
"It’s a surprise, but I assure you it tastes way better than it smells and looks."
Kelsie’s furrowed brows instantly relaxed hearing the familiar voice, but the next second, they creased in surprise.
It was him?
Oh, no wonder the food smelt different.
Behind her, Jesse’s eyes darkened.
The two walked into the kitchen to see Zade and Keira happily eating while Jett walked toward them with a bottle of water and two glass cups.
Hearing footsteps, Keira glanced behind her, eyes lighting up when she saw Kelsie and Jesse.
"Mommy, this is delicious. I didn’t know daddy could cook this well. I almost thought he was lying just now."
"Jesse, don’t just stand there. Aren’t you starving?" Zade followed suit, throwing a surprised glance Jesse’s way.
In reply, Jesse looked away, looking sulky.
The corners of Zade’s lips twitched, but he didn’t bother with him and flashed Kelsie a thumbs-up, "Mommy, I approve of him!"
"We approve of him." Keira interrupted, briefly glaring at him before she continued, "You can’t cook and he can cook. If that isn’t a match made somewhere lasting, I don’t know."
Kelsie was rendered speechless.
So speechless she had nothing to say to either of them and instead turned her attention to him.
"I thought you left."
Dishing a third plate, Jett grimaced, "I’m sorry for lingering so long. I’m sure you didn’t look forward to seeing me when you returned, but I woke up an hour ago and didn’t want to just leave. So I told the nanny not to bother with lunch. That I’d make it."
Kelsie nodded in understanding.
Under the intense, watchful eyes of her children, she felt the back of her head before strutting toward him.
Two pairs of eyes watched her eagerly, but fell in disappointment when she walked past him to open the fridge.
Jesse almost laughed when he saw their disappointment.
Beaming, he leaned on the wall and folded his arms across his chest.
The kitchen went into a brief silence for almost a minute before Zade broke it amidst mouthful, "Have you had his food before, mommy?"
"A few times." She had barely gotten the words out when Keira turned to Zade.
"You know, I hear food is the way to a man’s heart. Since mommy can’t cook and daddy can, does that mean it’s the way to her heart?"
Zade nodded without hesitation. "Must be."
Kelsie choked on her water and gave them a stoic glance.
"You’re talking too much while eating. Go eat in the dinning."
Zade promptly got down and held out his hand for Keira.
"Right. We should give them some privacy."
"Stupid us. Didn’t even think of that. Forgive us, mommy." Keira wouldn’t stop apooogizing as she scurried out with him.
Naturally, Jesse gritted his teeth and did the same.
This tall man still didn’t know his place.
As he begrudgingly left the kitchen, Jett picked up the dished food and rushed to block his path.
"Here, this is yours."
Staring up at him, the little boy quietly took it and disappeared out of the kitchen.
"I know they’re almost seven, but how is it they talk like teenagers? If they’re saying things like this at this age, imagine what my life would be like when they’re teenagers." Kelsie sighed, leaning beside him on the island.
"They’re turning seven soon?"
"Well, not typically, but in April. April 10th."
Jett’s eyes dimmed, the realization that he hadn’t known that until now making him sick to his stomach.
While he was deep in self-loathing, Kelsie tilted her head to look him in the face.
"So, the bartender from last night said you drank the whole day. To be exact, you came in the night before and drank throughout the following day."
His face bloomed into a faint smile, fingers performing a silly dance on the island making a silly dance as they slipped toward her.
He held her hand, brought it to his lips, and began planting kisses on it while maintaining eye contact with her, trailing them up to her neck.
"I was having a bad day, but it ended because you came to pick me up." He whispered huskily once he was near her ear, his lips latching onto the nape of her neck.
Throwing her head back, Kelsie tightened her grip on the island as she struggled to push him away, saying breathlessly, "I have kids just outside this room."
He paused for a moment to look up at her.
"If we keep our voices down in the store, I don’t think they’d hear."
Chuckling, she seized the brief restoration of her sanity to push him away.
"The walls are thinner than you think."
Jett swallowed hard, eyes following her in disappointment as she walked to the door.
However, she paused once she curled her fingers around the door knob and turned to look at him.
"I tuck them at 10:45pm. Keira usually waits until I leave to play her game, so I check their room after an hour. But if you’ll you stay over tonight, why let 60 minutes go to waste?"
Then she pulled the door open and strutted out.
The moment it closed behind her, the man knitted his brows thoughtfully, narrowing his eyes as a reoccurring thought kept coming to him.
But on second thought, he shook the whim away.
His apartment was just above hers, if he set it on fire it’d affect them as well.
So what else could he do to become homeless?
Taking out his phone, he messaged Daniel.
In the Adler family residence, Daniel sat in the living room, biting down hard on his tongue as he listened to his family trash talk Kelsie.
Jett’s fist was one thing, but Kelsie’s? Whenever that woman hit him, he was always in pain for the next twenty-four hours.
The thought of both of them pouncing on him if he made the mistake of divulging the triplets were Jett’s made him shiver.
An attack like that would take him months to recover.
Forget it.
They both must have their reason for not telling his grandfather yet. For now, he just had to turn the other way and drown out their voices.
Drawing his knees to his chest, he raised his eyes to see a distant cousin turn to Jack.
"Grandfather, literally every powerful figure in Silicone Valley will be at your birthday party. Why don’t we invite that wench and call her out?"
Jack was silent before he sighed and leaned forward, "I already did. Now hand in your devices. One of you may go snitching to Jett just to win his favor."
