Chapter 191: Chapter 191 Make Her Death Look Like An Accident
Like the first time this happened, Eric dreaded to see the anger and utter rage on Jett’s face.
In fact, he was already thinking of calming things to say to his boss when all of a sudden he heard him chuckle in amusement.
"Very funny. That young man is quite funny taking after my sometimes twisted and annoying sense of humor."
Eric frowned hard watching the wide grin on Jett’s face widen, his laugh almost sounding like that of a hyenas.
What? Was he missing something?
Confused, he turned the screen to himself again.
He didn’t take the words sprawled across the screen literally as he concluded it was the babbling words of a madman.
Like Jett said, this bastard had a twisted sense of humor.
What, mommy?
If he didn’t know better, he would’ve thought the hacker was some kind!
As Jett sat seat behind his desk, Eric summoned enough courage to voice out his displeasure, "S-sir, forgive my presumptuousness, but this is in no way a funny situation."
"I’m sure this hacker is not trying to be hilarious hacking our second batch of computers."
"And he’s not to be trifled with if he could comfortably hack every computer in the building, not once, but two times."
"If you ask me, I suggest we employ the help of Serbian Howard or someone who can keep this hacker away for good."
In response to everything he said, Jett didn’t look up as he said dismissively, "Eric, buy new computers."
Eric grimaced.
"Sir? This will be the second batch of computers being hacked. I asked around and I found out being targeted hy a hacker isn’t a good thing."
"As long as they’ve found their way around, meeting their demands simply isn’t enough. They’ll keep returning with more demands."
"We have to nip whoever this is by the bud. I understand you’re not tightwith Serbian Howard, but we need his help!"
Realizing his assistant was getting worked up, Jett raised his eyes and retorted plainly, "Jesse’s the hacker."
"This is no time to be stubborn, we need this to happen or that stupid bas..." A hotheaded Eric was on the verge of abusing the hacker when Jett’s words registered.
"J-Jesse? Your kid? The very handsome six-year-old boy you have with Ms. Sutton who looks just like you?"
Jett nodded and lowered his eyes back to the reports on his desk.
Eric was astounded.
Mommy.
That was really from a little kid? Most importantly, a child was the reason a multi-billionaire company like the Adler Group had to pause their work?
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts and prompted him to leave the office.
As he left, Craig slipped in, gently closing the door behind him.
He remained standing at the doorway, his eyes flickering across the room before he finally settled it on Jett who had no intention of paying attention to him.
"It’s truly as magnificent as I imagined it to be. So this is where the company’s fund goes to."
Jett didn’t bother with him and turned on his computer to go through emails.
Craig instantly felt disrespected and clenched his jaw tightly.
However, instead of lashing out at his behavior, he simply clasped both hands behind him and began pacing around.
"I heard about the situation in the company. How this is the second time and neither I nor the shareholders have ever heard of it really baffles me."
Jett said nothing as he squinted his eyes at the hundreds of new mails he had then exited the app without reading any and took out his phone.
Bang!
Craig suddenly slammed both palms on Jett’s desk, his brows furrowed angrily as he rasped, "Jett, we may have our differences. But this is Adler Group we’re talking of. Our livelihood. Is our livelihood and that of thousands of people a joke to you?"
"I’m taking care of it." Jett finally paused to stare at him then impatiently lowered his eyes back to his phone as he scrolled through the dozens of messages he had sent to Kelsie an hour ago.
He understood Kelsie wasn’t one to check her messages during working hours, but she always called back whenever she missed his call.
He already checked her schedule this morning to know she had no surgery.
The more he thought about it, the more worried he grew.
Before him, Craig was losing his mind over Jett’s careless attitude and began ranting.
"You’re taking care of it? You know the vast amount of information in the first computers that was hacked, so how could you be so calm?"
"Because I’m handling it." Jett repeated robotically, his mind elsewhere.
But Craig huffed and pointed an accusing finger at him.
"Have you ever stopped to imagine what the company would be like if the information on the hacked computers are being leaked to a rival conglomerate?"
"If you weren’t so full of yourself and spoke to the shareholders about it, I’m sure they would’ve found a way to help you out!"
"So listen to me, you spoilt brat, If anything and I mean anything, happens to Adler Group, I will never let you off!"
Screech!
Craig flinched and stepped backward in fear when Jett suddenly pushed his chair backward and got on his feet.
But the next second, Craig realized he hadn’t said anything wrong and hence had nothing to be afraid of.
However, just to be safe, he still took a few steps backward before reprimanding, "What is this? Why get offended when all I’m trying to do is help you?"
"I may not directly run Adler Group, but it’s also my responsible to make sure things are sailing smoothly."
Jett simply grabbed his suit jacket and walked towards him with a straight face.
"I’m leaving and I don’t want you here when I’m not around."
"Don’t be irresponsible! What about the hacking situation?"
Jett wore his jacket and retorted stoically, "Craig, leave Adler Group and do whatever you do with your time. As you said, you don’t run Adler Group, I do."
"If I get to that door and you’re not beside me, I’ll have security drag you all the way outside the gate."
Jett was one to make good of his premises, so Craig didn’t bother delaying and hurried out ahead of him.
Watching Eric and Jett stroll into an elevator, Craig turned a corner and took out his phone to call someone.
"Someone hacked into the Adler Group’s computers. Find out who did. When you do, leak everything on the computers to the netizens."
In Haven Medical Center
Seeing how tired she looked, Jack didn’t say much and waited until she was done changing his IV.
"Dr. Sutton, my 73rd is next week friday. As my personal doctor, I want you to be there. You see, I’d love to try a lot of new dishes this year, so it’ll be assuring to have you nearby incase anything happens. I’ll pay for the extra time."
"Sure." Kelsie was too tired and had no reason to refuse, so she accepted.
Minutes later, she was heading down to her office to take a quick nap.
"Dr. Sutton, thank goodness you’re here." She had just strolled past the front desk when she heard Holly’s relieved voice.
"Is anything the problem?"
"Zoe Derruci called asking for you. She said she’s at a race track prepping for a race and you’re the only one she could think to call for help, but you weren’t replying your messsges nor answering your calls."
"I’m really tired, Holly. I need to sleep."
"I told her the same, but then her phone was yanked from her and this dude with a scary voice said if you don’t get to the race track in thirty minutes, he’ll send you all ten of your debtor friend’s fingers."
Kelsie glanced at the time for a moment then turned and headed out.
Thirty minutes later, she arrived at the valley where the race track was located.
She parked a few meters away from a group of racers. Behind them with her frightened eyes darting around, was a bruise-faced Zoe.
Her eyes lit up in relief when she saw Kelsie, but recalling the situation, she lowered her head guiltily.
"I just wanted to race for fun. I had no idea the form they had me sign said I’d owe them if I lost."
At this, the tall and burly man behind her laughed creepily.
"Surprise, surprise, the country doesn’t have jobs for people like us. This valley’s the only thing we have. If you were bright, you would’ve known to read the form before you signed it."
Zoe choked back a sob, "I’m sorry, team leader. You were the only one I could call for help."
The burly man who spoke earlier walked to stand beside Zoe, laying down the rules.
"Enough of that. Now, there’s only one rule. You just have to win."
However, Kelsie took out her card. "How much does she owe? I’ll pay."
None of them had expected this, so they were greatly taken aback.
Then they went to a corner to discuss amongst themselves.
After a while, they sent someone to an SUV parked at the rear.
In the car, the window wound down a little, just enough to reveal the gray hair of the man inside.
"Boss, she’s offering to pay for her friend. My brothers suggest we..."
He abruptly trailed off and went silent when his boss gazed at him coldly.
"Our generous and long-time employer said to make it look like an accident. We can only sell that story if she gets squashed to death by rival racers in a few minutes."
