Chapter 150: Chapter 150 Cook Dinner Or Adler Group? Cook Dinner
"That’s true. I’ve only heard that you take women home and it’s never the same woman." Daniel said amidst laughter.
Boyce trembled slightly, both his hands slowly curling into a tight fist.
"At least I take women home. I’ve never heard that you take any. Or are you into men?"
"Even if I were, I won’t go around sleeping around with the entire city." Daniel sharply rebuffed, eyes not leaning his screen.
Before Boyce could think of a retort, Jack barked furiously, "You two, shut your mouths this instant!"
The room instantly fell instantly with the two men lowering their eyes to the floor.
Jack squeezed his eyes shut, sucked in a deep breath and after some seconds, exhaled deeply then turned to Jett again.
"Jett, this is about you. No one from our Adler family has ever raised the child of another man."
"While I’m not against you going after their mother, but you know those in Adler Group and our Adler family will be against it. It’ll make you unfit to continue heading Adler Group."
Boyce moved uncomfortably in his seat, eyes darkening a little.
"Forgive me for butting in, grandfather, but don’t you think you’re being too lenient with him?"
Jack turned to look at him.
"Why do you say that?"
"If any other of your grandsons had this same issue, would you really be saying this?"
"I would. Seeing my grandchildren all living happily is something I want to see while I’m still alive."
Boyce hummed in understanding and leaned forward.
"Then, why do you try to dissuade Jett from doing what makes him happy? If this woman with three children makes him happy, you should let him pursue her."
"He has never been in love before, so trying to deprive him of such a great feeing simply because he has to head Adler Group is a little too much, don’t you think?"
Jack sighed inwardly.
Boyce had seen through him.
Indeed, this matter was too distressing to him.
Though he had been away for more than a decade, he knew better than anyone how many people were eyeing Jett’s position.
But because he was so meticulous and ruthless with his actions, they were unable to bring him down all these years.
The moment any of them finds out he’s going out with a single woman with three children, they’d surely cling to it and hound him until he steps down as Adler Group’s president.
However, he couldn’t let that happen. He hadn’t skipped a generation just to hand his legacy over to his grandson simply because he was his favorite.
Over the years, he had come to see that Jett was a natural leader. Moreover, he had a perfect grasp of how to run a company.
In just ten years, Jett had transformed Adler Group from a mere company into a well-known conglomerate.
The position of president in Adler Group could only be passed to a family member, but deep down, everyone knew that none of Jett’s relatives could match his capabilities.
Yet, they despised him too much to admit it and kept trying to bring him down.
Seeing his grandfather had fallen into thought, Boyce was even more displeased and smiled bitterly.
"Stop protecting him, grandfather. He’s old enough to fend for himself. Moreover, it’s high time he settles down and finds a wife."
"Stepping away from the company will give him time to focus on his family and learn how to be a better father to that woman’s children."
Jack was still in a dilemma about what to do while Jett had no intention of saying anything.
Daniel, on the other hand, got killed in the game and used the opportunity to butt into the conversation.
"Just to be clear, you really don’t think you’d be able to become the president of Adler Group if Jett steps away, do you?"
Subconsciously, Boyce straightened up, his nose high up in the air as he retorted stoically, "Why not?"
"With an IQ like yours, Adler Group will be on the edge of bankruptcy before anyone realizes it."
"You mistake me for you, Daniel."
"There’s no mistaking you to me. Not only am I self-aware, I also know my place." Daniel paused and glanced up from his phone, "Look at those wrinkles on your forehead and look at Jett’s."
"He’s just a year older than you, yet he looks younger. Do you know why? It’s because he knows his place and minds his business."
Jack finally snapped out of his thoughts and shot a sharp glare at his babbling grandson.
"Daniel Adler, that foul mouth of yours, I’m going to tear it off your face!"
Ignoring the seething Boyce, who was shooting daggers at him, Daniel lowered his head in apology.
"Forgive me, grandfather. That was out of line."
Beside him, Jett suddenly got on his feet and clicked his tongue in disapproval.
"You’re younger than Boyce, yet you bully him, do you have no conscience? Anyway, I’m leaving now."
"You’re leaving? You haven’t said anything the entire time you’ve been here." Daniel took the words right out of Jack’s mouth.
A confused look seeped into Jett’s face.
"What do you mean? Didn’t grandfather call us to have tea with him?"
"Pardon?" Jack didn’t know when he blurted out
Jett turned to wave a finger in his face.
"Don’t be like that, grandfather. Next time you wish to have tea with us, make sure to call all your grandchildren. That way, they won’t accuse you of favoritism."
"Daniel, tell grandmother I’ve left. The Butler told me she couldn’t sleep last night. I’ll bring a masseuse when I come to see her tomorrow."
"Where are you going?" Daniel mummed, eyes pinned on his screen again.
"To cook dinner."
"Dinner?" Daniel repeated, but the next second, his eyes shotbup. "To cook dinner? Since when do you cook dinner?"
Jett didn’t retort and strutted out.
Behind him, Boyce hissed.
"He’s going to see that woman."
Daniel chuckled mockingly.
"At least he has a woman to see."
Jack sighed tiredly.
Jett chose the woman over the company. There was nothing else he could do again.
Turning to Boyce, he instructed, "Inform the shareholders."
