Chapter 151: Chapter 151 You Gave Birth To Triplets!
By 6pm, Amy’s shift ended and shortly after she left, the triplets fell asleep one after the other.
After using an hour to write a detailed report of the surgery she conducted earlier, Kelsie got on her feet to strech.
As she quietly paced around, a knock sounded on the door, followed shortly by the appearance of the pediatrician treating Jesse.
He took a look at Jesse’s wounds and checked his temperature before exhaling in relief.
"There’s no sign of infection. Since his wounds aren’t that serious, he’d be all healed up in one or two weeks."
He paused and took a step away from the bed, reaching into his breast pocket for a small piece of paper.
"Once he’s all healed up, he might have a scar. If he has any, buy and apply this cream to help fade them."
Kelsie nodded and took the paper.
The pediatrician then turned to leave, but halted when he recalled something.
"I almost forgot, your son really cheated on you."
"What do you mean?" She retorted without looking up, eyes lowered to the paper he gave her.
The pediatrician chuckled softly and glanced at Jesse who was sleeping on his back, face bared the ceiling.
"I saw his father yesterday. Your boy is the exact replica of him. One doesn’t even need a DNA test to know they’re biologically related."
Kelsie’s eyes instantly shot up in disbelief.
She parted her lips to say something when the door was abruptly pushed open as a panicking nurse came to call the doctor.
Apparently, it was some emergency. As he left with her, Kelsie’s eyes dimmed slightly.
Exact replica of him? Someone came to the ward when she wasn’t in and they never told her?
A face had just popped into her head when the door was pushed open a second time.
Without turning to see who it was, she assumed it was the doctor and asked, "Will you be able to identify this man if you see him next time?"
A brief silence followed.
Several seconds later, a familiar voice came up.
"What man?" f\ree webn ovel(.)com
Her breath hitched and she suddenly forgot how to talk.
Taking her silence as affirmation, Jett walked to stand beside her, dropping the lunchbox he came with on the floor.
"A man was here? Was it that punk from the Howard family?"
"Serbian Howard. His name is Serbian Howard." She scoffed without turning her head to look at him.
But Jett couldn’t be any bothered. "I don’t care what his name is."
Recalling how he had left her at the school earlier, she huffed and began walking to a corner.
"My kids just fell asleep, Mr. Adler. You should leave."
His gaze darted towards the sleeping children.
Zade had his arms wrapped around Keira, burying his face on her shoulder while she did the same.
Because Jesse was lying on his back, his face was visible to everyone.
Suppressing the gnawing feeling in his heart, Jett reached for the lunchbox again, his cheeks stretching into a small smile.
"Have you eaten? I brought you dinner."
She was about to nod when her eyes caught the red stain on his collar, suddenly sighting the lunchbox.
But the next second, she pettily threw her face to the side.
"I ordered out already. I don’t eat takeouts more than once in a day."
Jett nodded in understanding and began moving the coffee table in the room to where she stood.
As he brought over the two chairs he could find, he took off his suit jacket, draped it over one of the chairs and zipped open the lunchbox.
"It’s a good thing I didn’t order out then."
Kelsie ignored him, but from her hindsight, watched him ladle the table with food.
Fried chicken. They look so crispy. Must be easy to bite into.
The rice doesn’t look soggy either. He even made soup.
Was that beef cut into bits inside? So with every spoon of rice, she would be chewing a chunk of beef?
What a genius!
The aroma rushed into her nostrils and she didn’t know when she gulped down hard, salivating at the food.
Seeing how she gazed at it longily, Jett kept on a straight face and pretended not to notice, but inwardly, he was smirking hard.
After doing everything, he raised his eyes and beckoned onto her with a sigh, "Don’t just stand there. Come eat."
But she threw her face to the side in contempt. "Why would I eat something you made? I bet it doesn’t taste nice. Forget it, I’ll eat when I get home."
"Just a bite then."
"I said no."
"I used three hours to make them."
"What? You did? I mean, why did you do that? No one told you to. Sigh. You worked so hard to make it, it’d be heartless of me not to try it. Although I know it won’t taste half as good as it looks."
But she didn’t move after saying that. She didn’t even turn towards his direction.
Watching at him from her hindsight, she clenched her jaw tightly.
Come on, take the bait. Take the darn bait!
As if on cue, Jett leaned forward and pushed the dishes towards her side of the table.
"Of course, I’d be honored."
Almost sprinting, she took her seat and picked up the bowl of rice.
"Don’t get this wrong. I’m only going to take one bite because I feel bad for you. Spending three hours to cook is hard enough. Not having someone to eat it must be even harder."
Jett gently waved her off.
"You’re absolutely right. Go ahead. Take one or ten spoons."
"Don’t kid yourself, I’m only going to take one."
The spoon made its way into her mouth. As she slowly chewed on the rice and beef soup together, her eyes widened slightly in disbelief and she reached forward to scoop up another one.
Jett intently watched her repeat this action three times before he moved the plate of fried chicken towards her.
"It’s nice, isn’t it?"
She paused to stare at him blankly.
She lost her composure just now. Saying she didn’t find it tasty would be totally shameless of her.
Biting into the chicken, she stared at his face, "Tell me the truth, you had the assistance of a professional chef, didn’t you?"
Folding his hands across his chest, he leaned back on his seat and smiled proudly.
"Ms. Sutton, I’m the head of Adler Group and a multi-billionaire on my own. As a result I have a lot of enemies around me."
"My chefs change every week. Because it’s too strenuous changing my palate every time, I spent an entire year learning how to cook."
"Not to brag, but you should consider yourself honored to eat my food. Not a lot of people have the privilege of doing..."
"It’s a privilege? Don’t talk nonsense. I’m merely eating these because I don’t want you to feel bad." She quickly interrupted him in-between mouthfuls.
The man paused and stared her down, sighing inwardly.
They spent so much time together he was already rubbing off on her.
Out of everything to learn, she just had to learn his shamelessness, so who was he to call her out for it?
"Oh, sure. Thank you for your help."
She calmly waved him aside.
"No need to thank me."
He watched her slurp down everything and reached forward to uncap a bottle of water.
As she downed it, he impatiently tapped his fingers against the arm of his chair.
"I made my decision. I will treat your other children like my own."
Kelsie choked on the water.
She hurriedly dropped the bottle on the table and gripped her chest tightly, face flushing red as she tried to clear her airway.
Thinking she was just impressed by his decision, he continued.
"Does it surprise you that much? Anyway, I’ve come to terms that I’ll be raising your other children as mine. Hold me accountable in the future if I treat them any differently than I treat Jesse."
Kelsie choked even harder.
Hearing Kelsie choke in her sleep, Keira stirred slightly.
She sleepily climbed out of bed and strolled towards her.
As her little fist tried to ease Kelsie’s pain, Jett thought he found her familiar.
Just when he was racking his brain to remember where he had seen her, she turned towards him.
As soon as her eyes fell on him, she was instantly filled with righteous indignation and went to kick him.
"Bad daddy! Keira doesn’t want a bad daddy like you!"
Jett numbly bore the hits in surprise while Kelsie was slightly taken aback, hence, didn’t react immediately.
Keira kept repeating those same words that her brothers forcefully woke up to complain.
"Stop talking, Keira." Jesse said, falling on the bed again and covering his head with a pillow.
"Mommy, Keira keeps talking. So much for being a triplet." Zade complained bitterly, doing the same as Jesse.
Hearing him, Keira frowned slightly.
"What do you mean? Should we have been a quadruplet instead?"
The words had just rolled off her tongue when the sleepiness overwhelmed her and she fell directly into Jett’s arms.
Her brothers naturally fell silent as well leaving the adults in an awkward silence.
"Triplets? They’re triplets?" Jett asked in confusion, positioning her in a comfortable position.
Kelsie snapped out her reverie and got up to take Keira from him.
However, the man got on his feet as well.
Still holding Keira, he walked to the bed and intently gazed at Jesse and Zade, realization dawning on him instantly.
"They’re triplets! You gave birth to triplets!"
