Chapter 133: Chapter 133 A Peep Into Dr. Meyer
"Insert the syringe."
Kelvin Reynolds and the bald-doctor watched the two women with bated breaths.
Seeing Kelsie pick up a syringe, Kevin’s brows narrowed slightly.
"What is going on now?"
"The catheter has just been inserted. If she placed it on the right spot, she should be able to draw out the blood in the patient’s brain any moment from now." Answered the doctor, eyes pinned on the tube.
One, two... five seconds later and nothing came out.
The doctor glanced at the time on his wristwatch and exhaled heavily.
"They failed. The patient is as good as dead now."
The words had just rolled off his tongue when Amy gently squeezed the tube a few times.
A second later, small quantities of blood began making their way into the syringe and the two women exhale in relief.
"Doesn’t look like they failed to me." Kelvin said, his eyes dimming slightly as he walked out of the room.
The doctor raised his eyes, looking at the tube in disbelief before he followed after Kelvin with his team.
Inside the operating room, Kelsie placed a hand on Amy’s shoulders, squeezing it gently.
"You’ve done enough, Dr. Meyer. Allow your assistant for the day close her up."
Amy nodded absentmindedly and got up for Kelsie. Then she headed outside of the operating room with her heart in her hand.
Only when she stood outside did she grab her chest and exhaled numerous times in relief.
"Dr. Meyer?"
She quickly spurned to the direction of the voice, immediately bowing when she saw it was Kelvin.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Reynolds."
Kelvin had his hands clasped behind him as he glanced around for Kelsie.
When he didn’t see her, he returned his cold eyes to Amy Meyer.
"Freehand aspiration isn’t very reliable. So even though you succeeded this time in saving the patient, don’t rely on it next time."
While she didn’t expect to be praised by him, she felt he could’ve applauded her effort to save the patient.
Nevertheless, she bit down on her lower lip and nodded bitterly.
"Yes, sir."
She had just responded when Kelsie came out of the operating room pulling down her mask.
"Dr. Meyer had no choice, but to use freehand aspiration during the surgery. There was no time to perform a navigated aspiration."
Kelvin turned to look at her her, a smile that wasn’t quite a smile spreading across his face.
If only strangers didn’t look like other strangers sometimes, he wouldn’t need to wait for confirmation to believe this was really the daughter of that Fletcher woman.
Even the way she came to the rescue of others was the same.
How uncanny.
Slipping a hand into his pocket, he turned his attention back to Amy.
"I heard all about it. How someone discovered the patient wasn’t really sleeping after five hours, but whose fault was that?"
"She was scheduled to have surgery a few hours later than now, which means you should’ve paid more attention to her."
"The only reason the surgery was is all because of your carelessness. As a veteran, I expected better from you."
He walked away almost immediately when he was done scolding her.
Kelsie took off her face mask, gently wrapping it as she scoffed slightly.
"Don’t be pathetic and feel bad because of what he said. I’m having surgery in the next few hours and I’ve only checked on my patient once today."
"You had five surgeries today and you only just came out of the first one before this happened. It’s not your fault."
She then paused to glance at the time, a faint smile instantly tugging the corners of her lips as she looked up at Amy.
"You used less than an hour for such an important surgery. When I come to work tomorrow, I’ll bring you a big frame of this surgery time so you can hang it on your bedroom wall."
"Look at it whenever you’re feeling discouraged or doubting yourself. I have to go check on my patient now."
Then she hurried past Amy.
Her eyes followed Kelsie until she turned into a corner.
Then she tore her eyes away, squeezed them shut and gently massaged them as she walked to the office she shared with four other surgeons.
The moment she stepped into the room, she found three out of the four were inside and at one person’s desk.
When they saw it was her, they turned to sneer.
"I heard you performed a freehand aspiration. Most seasoned doctors are cautious not to do that, so what gave you the mind?"
"Is it, perhaps, because you knew Mr. Reynolds was watching? Did you want to remind him of the talent he recruited years ago."
"If she was aiming for that, she failed woefully. One of the doctors overheard him scolding her harshly for putting a person’s life in danger."
"Just stick to the surgeries you can handle without worries and leave the difficult ones for us who actually went to better schools and were taught properly."
"This show-off. Your desire to be the best keeps getting worse by the day. If you wanted to be taken serious, you should’ve gone to a better school. Oh, I forgot. You’re an orphan who had no money."
"Had? I bet she still hasn’t made enough to attend the medical schools we attended. Hey, Dr. Meyer, just know your place and save yourself these embarrassments."
Amy said nothing to them and just walked to sit on her desk.
While they continued mocking her, she spent the time wring a detailed report on the surgery.
She finished an hour later and used the rest of her time to go through her next surgery. For the next five hours, she went from one surgery room to the other until she was done.
As she walked out of the operating room where she just had the last surgery, Kelsie was coming out from the surgery room just across, yawning tiredly. fre ewe bnove l.com
The woman had her eyes lowered to the floor as she stretched and cracked her stiff neck.
Amy watched her for several seconds before making the decision to go to her. However, she had just taken a step forward when Holly Meadow along with two interns rushed to Kelsie’s side munching a pastry.
"Dr. Sutton, you have such a nice boyfriend! An absolute darling, if I must say."
