Chapter 125 Craig Adler

Chapter 125: Chapter 125 Craig Adler

Kelsie woke up the following morning to a letter of appointment from Haven Medical Center.

The evening of that same day, she went back to where she rented a car to buy another.

For the next few weeks, she skillfully avoided the owner of the apartment building and members of the Sutton family.

She wasn’t in a hurry to sue Bryan Baker, so she had no problem when Peterson’s Law Firm told her her court case would be in three months.

As for Serbian, it was easier to avoid him since he lived far from.

And just like that, three months flew by in the blink of an eye.

That morning, a disgruntled Jett Adler had a board meeting with the shareholders of the company.

Inside the quiet conference room, Boyce Adler, who sat at the end of the table huffed to everyone’s hearing.

"Three warehouses filled to the brim with goods burned down last night. The third batch just this month."

"Didn’t you say something about paying a visit to the building company in-charge of building all of our warehouses?"

"It’s been three months, don’t tell me you are yet to visits them or did you visit, but didn’t ask for compensation?"

Jett turned to him blankly.

A trace of panic flashed past Boyce’s eyes, but the next second, he scoffed, "You may be the president of Adler Group, but I’m a shareholder and a member of the Adler family."

"Unlike everyone else who are too intimidated by you to say anything to you, I’m not intimidated to say what I think."

Jett nodded in understanding, lowering his eyes to flip through the thin file in front of him.

Boyce blinked in disbelief, moving uncomfortably in his seat.

He nodded. He nodded instead of lashing out at him.

What was this punk up to now?

He was still wondering what was running through Jett’s mind when a mocking chuckle filled the air.

"Intimidate you? There’s no one to intimidate. You’re just a shell who was put there by someone intimidated by me."

He then paused and raised his eyes to meet Boyce’s seething eyes, then continued speaking like he hadn’t just set angered him.

"Since you’re so worried about the company’s well-being, why don’t you sue the building company and find us another in the meantime?"

"The warehouses which burnt down last night were all filled with goods meant for our customers abroad."

"Thankfully, all their orders were made either a last week or within the week, so we still have time to replace everything we lost in the fire."

"While the workers busy themselves with putting back together everything we lost in the fire, you should sue the building company and find another one between the week."

"Failure to do so and we’ll not only have hundreds of people asking for their money back, it’ll also bring our company a bad reputation."

To conclude his words, he paused again and swept his gaze across the other faces looking up to him.

"Does anyone have anything else to bring up? If not, this meeting will be coming to an end now."

Almost immediately, the sound of chairs scraping against the floor filled the air as they all began leaving.

Ten seconds, Jett got up and strolled out of the room.

Eric, who was waiting outside, promptly followed behind him.

"Did you find him?"

Eric nodded.

"He left with one of the Adler family’s private jet and didn’t file his flight plan until a few hours ago."

"What did it show?"

"That he returned two days after he left."

The corners of Jett’s lips curled into an amused grin.

"He keeps getting clever as he ages. He shouldn’t have made it too obvious though."

"Made what obvious, sir?"

"Instigating Boyce to start a rebellion he knew he wouldn’t finish. He should know by now even his secretary can keep a straight face under pressure better than his son."

The words had just rolled off his tongue when the subject of the discussion came out of a corner, walking towards him with Boyce beside him.

"Craig Adler, when did you get back?" Jett’s amused smile broadened the moment his eyes met with his uncle’s.

Craig Adler stood at 6’1. He was as lanky as Jett with his signature crooked smile creasing his face.

He had his eyes slightly lowered to the floor in respect as Jett looked him over, taking in the luxury white suit he was put on with awe.

"Always so fashionable, uncle. Your taste keeps getting better as you age. Other nephews hope their uncles don’t get old, but I look forward to it."

Craig instantly raised his eyes to meet Jett’s a second time, a faint spark lingering between them.

Three seconds later, the midde-aged man took a step closer to Jett, beaming, "Old, huh? The older I get, the closer I get to dying."

The words were yet out of his mouth when Jett quickly refuted it on his behalf, "Don’t be so pessimistic! Grandfather is still alive at that age."

"Although he lived a good life and can comfortably sleep with both his eyes fully closed."

Boyce jumped at the last sentence. Gritting his teeth in anger as he lashed out him.

"Jett, what are you trying to say? My father sleeps quite well!"

Jett swirled his tongue inside his mouth, chuckling, "Does he? You should advise him then. Given how he has been living, he should always keep one eyes open."

"Hey, what do you mean by that? Don’t you dare curse out my father!" Boyce immediately chided, impulsively attempting to throw himself at Jett when his father placed a hand on his chest, stopping him.

Craig flashed Jett a faint smile.

"I’ll keep that in mind, Jett. It means a lot to me that the head of our Adler family and the President of Adler group is looking out for me. I won’t be forgetting these kinds anytime soon."

Jett returned the smile, patting him gently on the shoulder as he moved closer to his ears.

"You’re doing well, uncle. You’ve come so far to get sloppy. You wouldn’t want me to catch you when you slip, would you?"

While Craig’s smile instantly vanished upon hearing him, Jett’s mood significantly improved as he began humming a tone whilst strutting towards the elevator.

Two minutes later, he walking to the garage with Eric.

Eric rushed to hold open the door as Jett got closer, but instead of getting in immediately, his eyes went up to a certain window.

Sure enough, eyes he had just left in the corridor were intently watching him.

After staring at him for several seconds, he got into the car.

Eric got into the driver’s seat and starting the engine, inquisitively glanced at Jett through the rear view mirror, "Where to, sir?"

"That first year student said something to Ms. Sutton before he died. So we’re going to Haven Medical Center."

Eric nodded and drove out almost immediately.

Watching their car drive out of the gate, Craig Sutton clenched his jaw tightly.

"That brat knows something."

A worried Boyce nodded in agreement behind him.

"Right? He was grinning so much just know I found it odd."

Craig slowly turned around to look at his son, a disappointed sigh escaping his lips.

If only this son of his was as intelligent as that brat, he wouldn’t be working this hard.

He exhaled heavily and turned his attention outside the window again, his brows furrowing thoughtfully.

Boyce was silent for a moment before his voice came up again.

"Dad, if Jett finds out what we did, we’ll be in big trouble. So tell me you took care of that medical guy."

Hearing him, Craig’s eyes fell slightly.

It had been three months since he last heard from that thug in Darki. The plan was to wipe out that first year as soon as he stepped foot in Darki.

He even went as far as promising that thug he’d give him other jobs if he did a clean job with the first year and sent him a confirmation picture.

But up until now, nothing had showed up in the draft of the email account he had sent him and he had no other way of contacting him.

With Jett watching him, going to Darki to confirm was no different from knocking a nail in his coffin.

While he thought of what to do, Boyce was getting increasingly restless.

"Dad, you’re not saying anything. Don’t tell me you really let him walk. If Jett finds him or he resurfaces again, we will be in trouble."

"You’re too smart to have let him go. Surely you had a plan in place when you let him..."

Overwhelmed by his incessant questions, Craig shot him a stern glare, "Shut up!"

Boyce instantly quiet ended down and lowered his eyes to the floor.

"I’m just worried, father."

"Then you should’ve done better!"

"What?"

"All you had to do was convince some of the shareholders that Jett wasn’t the right person to lead Adler Group. But instead of doing that, you made a complete fool of yourself in front of them!"

"I didn’t mean to."

"If you had done that, it wouldn’t have mattered if that first year is alive or not. Get out now. I need to think of how to clean this mess."

Boyce bowed slightly to him and promptly left the room, closing the door behind him.

As soon as he left, Craig whipped out his phone to call someone.

As soon as the call was answered, he began ranting bitterly, "I did everything you asked me to do, but I’m still the vice president of the Adler Group. In fact, it’s like that position no longer exists."

"That brat literally made his assistant seem like the vice president. People barely recall I exist."

In response to everything he said, a man’s unbothered voice came up, "You’ll be where you want to be soon." f.re(e) w.e(b)nov el.c.om

"You’ve been saying that since you approached me three months ago."

"It’s not like I’ve not done anything to help you. I got rid of that first year for you. Or have you forgotten already?"

"Just tell me how much longer I have to wait and what I should do."

"There’s a woman you should tail. Kelsie Sutton. Tail her for a while and see for yourself how long you have to wait."
