Chapter 123 Ms. Fletcher?
Chapter 123: Chapter 123 Ms. Fletcher?
Serbian Howard, who was at the other end of the room, glanced at his time in exhaustion.
For a party hosted by Haven Medical Center, it only had the doctors and nurses in attendance, no sign of any one of their founders.
How carefree. They didn’t even bother to come forward with a speech.
With such a relaxed attitude, even though they were said to be the best hospital with the best medical doctors in the country, he wouldn’t bother to go to them if he needed medical help.
Wouldn’t they ignore him the same way they were ignoring their guests here?
He sighed and leaned back, whipping out his phone to scroll through the internet.
It was at this moment that a group of rich scions recognized him from a distance and eagerly strutted up to him.
"You must be the Serbian Howard. I’ve heard so much about you."
"You’re a hacking prodigy. I’ve heard about you my whole life from my father."
Serbian wasn’t one to socialize with just anyone and judging from how flattering these scions sounded, he didn’t want to be overly friendly with them lest they got the wrong idea .
Hence, he didn’t bother to raise his eyes to look at them and just sighed tiredly.
"What do you want?"
At this, one of the boys pulled out a seat to sit beside him, grinning slightly, "Come on, man. We’re just trying to engage you in a discussion."
Serbian paused, moved his chair to the side, putting a distance between them, and returned his attention to his phone.
"If you’ve heard about me your whole life, then your parents must’ve asked you to get close to me. Should I give you my number then?"
The flattering demeanor of the scions drastically changed as they scoffed in disdain.
"No need to act all high and mighty, you’re just like the rest of us. If you weren’t so talented in your computer thing, you’d be no better than us and be in Jett Adler’s shadow just like everyone else."
His words seemed to set off something in the rest of the boys as they began lamenting bitterly.
"He gives everyone the cold shoulder, but they still worship at his feet. Disgusting! Utterly disgusting!"
"I’ve been trying to have dinner with Lila Reed for over a year now, but she keeps turning me down. Who would’ve thought it was because of him?"
"Why does he have everything? Looks, height, family, and money? Darn that Jett freaking Adler!"
Serbian finally raised his eyes, squinting it slightly as he scoured the place.
What? That man was here?
Although yesterday was their first time running into each other, that rude man kept getting in his way and eventually took the little time Kelsie had for him in the guise of having breakfast.
Now he was suddenly with an actress? He could’ve sworn that Jett Adler was hitting on his Kelsie the entire time!
So that punk was a playboy. Irritating!
He huffed lightly and turned off the screen of his phone, getting up on his feet.
The scions were taken aback by this sudden movement.
But he ignored the look of surprise on their face and asked, "Where did you see Jett Adler?"
One of them clenched his jaw tightly and glanced at a direction.
Serbian followed his train of sight.
It was a little farther from where he was seated, but now that he was on his feet, he could see the small crowd who had gathered around there.
Behind him, the scions watched him suspiciously.
"Why? Have you had your eyes on Lila Reed as well?"
"Like you need to ask. She is the dream of most young men in Silicone Valley. It’d be hard if Serbian isn’t..."
The second guy quickly trailed off when Serbian began walking away from their table.
Their eyes lit up In disbelief and they hurriedly got on their feet to run after him.
"Jett Adler and Serbian Howard like the same woman? Thrilling!"
"I thought today would be as boring as usual. I’m glad the hospital invited Lila Reed this time."
"Talking of Lila Reed, she must’ve saved a country in her past life to have two powerful men fight over her."
No sooner had the scions gotten there did a confused look seep onto their face.
Lila Reed now stood alone while the man she was holding hands with just a moment ago was standing beside another woman.
"Now, I don’t know what you’re all talking about, but I think you should know I already have someone I like."
Jett Adler’s words made them even more perplexed.
What in the world was happening?
While everyone tried to process what he meant by that, Serbian Howard stood in front of Kelsie and glared hard at Jett.
"What are you doing now? Don’t you see Ms. Sutton isn’t in the mood for your stupid mind games?"
Jett merely looked him over.
"You... are you stalker? For someone who doesn’t live close to her, you’re awfully everywhere she goes. You’re stalking her, aren’t you?"
For the first time since they met, Serbian was rendered speechless by this sly man.
How could such a refined man say something so uncouth?
He was yet to know if Kelsie was one to overthink things. If she was...
The possibility of how she’d view him if that were the case had just formed in his head when he took a step closer to Jett, his nose flaring slightly.
"You should mind what you say to me, Mr. Adler. The Howard family was invited as well!"
Jett snickered in contempt, "Since when did you start attending events like this as the face of your family? Don’t think you can fool me!"
Once again, Serbian was rendered speechless.
The next second, he sneered irritatedly, "Mr. Adler, you have a vivid imagination. As much as that isn’t a bad thing, you should refrain from saying things like that before you ruin my reputation!"
While the two men bickered, Kelsie got up to sit at another empty table, rendering everyone speechless.
The stalking? The two men quarreling? Hearing these didn’t faze her at all?
Standing in front of them with her face ashen, Lila Reed couldn’t believe her ears and eyes.
Was this an attempt to throw her off?
She had known him most of her life to know he didn’t have a woman around him. He also didn’t care about the rumors as long as it didn’t affect his business.
Knowing this made her say everything she had just said today. As long as it didn’t affect him, he wouldn’t even take her arm off him. And yet, he did. For the first time ever.
At the same time, she couldn’t help finding what Kelsie was wearing a little familiar.
It took a few seconds before she recognized the gown she was wearing to be the same as the one she had seen outside.
They were the same person? But that person had a date who was neither of these two men.
Could it be she was three-timing?
Right. That person earlier did seem to be someone important.
Oh, this shrew was way in over her head. How dare her drag Jett Adler with her!
She suddenly smiled and took a step forward to say something when a group of men squeezed through the crowd to the front.
"Kelsie, sorry to keep you waiting for so long." Callum Shaw outrightly apologized, not noticing the crowd’s eyes on him, his full attention on the two middle-aged men with him.
Kelsie naturally got on her feet to stand beside him, hands clasped in front of her as a small smile tugged the corners of her lips.
"This is President Kelvin Reynolds and this is his brother, Calvin Reynolds. They’re the founders of Haven Medical Center."
Her eyes darkened instantly, but the next second, she flashed the twins a broad smile, taking in their appearances.
Two middle-aged men who were redheads. She could see the root of their hair from where she stood to know they hadn’t tinted.
They looked exactly the same. The only feature telling them apart was the mole beside Calvin Reynolds right eye.
The moment their eyes settled on her face, their brown eyes trembled slightly like though they had just seen a ghost.
Kelvin Reynolds, however, held in the question threatening to roll off his tongue and raised an inquisitive brow, stretching a hand towards her for a handshake, "Ms. Fletcher?"
Receiving the handshake, Kelsie shook her head in refusal, beaming brightly, "Kelsie. Kelsie Sutton."
"Have we met before, Ms. Sutton?" Calvin Reynolds, on the other hand, couldn’t help asking as he shook Kelsie’s hand.
She still shook her head in refusal.
"I left Silicone Valley seven years ago and only just returned. Prior to that, I was busy with school and hardly went anywhere. So I don’t think we’ve met anywhere."
The man laughed curtly, his eyes still pinned on hers.
"We might’ve met on the airport before you boarded the plane. You never know."
Kelsie laughed curtly as well.
"Ah, that must’ve been the case. If so, it’s a pleasure you still remember what I look like after seven years."
"You have a unique face. I don’t forget such faces easily."
"Why, thank you."
Callum waited for them to get acquainted with each other before he continued.
"So, she’s the neurosurgeon I told you I met overseas. She’s good with what she does..."
Behind them, Lila Reed balled her hands into a tight fist.
A doctor. So she wasn’t an up-and-coming actresss.
The crowd who had gathered also sighed.
Someone who was being personally recruited by the founders of the most famous hospital wasn’t just someone.
Basically, she held most of their lives in her palm.
If they said something harsh to her and she remembered them during a major surgery, they’d be in huge trouble.
Watching them talk, Jett and Serbian took their seat at her table waiting for her.
Meanwhile, the younger of the twin walked away from the group after a few minutes to make a call.
"That Fletcher woman from 19 years ago, are you certain she died?"
